ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #413 – The Stuff You Do Best

“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do” John Wooden

Ahhhh you own a small business… as such, you wear many different hats.  You answer phones, work in shipping, clean bathrooms, schedule meetings and if you’re lucky… actually work on your core product.

You feel like you must know everything!  But do you really need to know everything?

NO!

Hire people!  Today we had a visit from our safety company.  You see… I know we generate hazardous waste.  We have repair shop!  That means we have paint, oil, and other minor chemicals.  But do you have any idea what type of documents you need for this?  Oh… there are a bunch.  We hired a safety company and they are in charge of our forms.

I’d spend a lot of time (and frustration) trying to get into compliance because I’d do it once… HUGE LEARNING CURVE — this company… they go to marina after marina gaining knowledge at each one and they can compile the information quickly.  It’s a great feeling to write the check because I know it’s a service that’s totally worth it!

My advice, quit dreading things about social media marketing.  Sure you need to know that you need a website, but you don’t have to learn how to code.  Hire someone to help you create what you want.

It’s worth it!  If you don’t understand, don’t be embarrassed, ask questions and seek others with more knowledge.  Get out of your own way.

Sometimes it’s hard for an Entrepreneur to grasp the “paying for help” concept because you’re by nature a “do it yourself” person, however, you need to explore it.  Yes, it will cost money, but usually it saves you money because you can focus your time on the stuff you do best!
