Friday: Big Money Small Change
I received an email the other day asking me to select my entree on my upcoming flight.
It was one of those breakthrough ideas I had to share. The reason… people like their first choice. So if you have an opportunity to give them a “select ahead of time” it makes their experience a little less stressful.
I can imagine this idea took some logistics to pull off. They had to attach your selection to the reservation and print. But, what a neat way to wow your customers!
You see… I’m a really picky eater. I hate going to places with “food choices” like conferences or airlines… it creates stress. You wonder IF you’ll be able to find something you like and worse yet… you watch the choices slowly go away.
I’ll put it like this.
You all know I love chocolate chip cookies. I mean love them. You also know that I think putting peanut butter into a good sugar cookie base is just down right mean. GROSS. Peanut butter only goes on bread. (told you I’m picky) — but I really can’t stand peanut butter cookies.
So imagine my stress if you can see the two trays of cookies from across the room and you LOVE one choice and you HATE the other. When you watch the Love Love Love cookies leaving… UGHHH it’s maddening.
When the airline offer the opportunity to select the meal ahead of time – it builds the brand, differentiates them, becomes another service offering and strengthens the tribe.
It’s super simple. Just ask your customers what they want!
