Isn’t that what every commercial says… buy right now!
Ans as you know, in marketing there’s always a “call to action” – right?!
Do something right now… take action.
Why is this important?
It’s important because you’re in the moment. You are engaged. Right then you are the most ready to make a decision. So DO IT. Make a decision. (Also, the sales person wants you to make a decision too, for obvious reasons)
So you can make a decision about purchasing an item, but what about a new idea?
HA! Sometimes you need a shove, right?
If there’s one thing we’ve learned about the last five weeks is that the entire globe has received a giant shove. While some might think they’re standing still… others are running backward to make changes, sometimes drastic changes, just to keep going forward.
I know at our business we have implemented some changes which will create a new path forward. Not for a short amount of time, but for a long time. The funny part is, we were researching these changes but were not ready to make the decision to implement until we were SHOVED.
This includes four major digital automation changes. They will be amazing, once they’re done, but right now it’s crazy. It’s necessary for us to have these changes in place, so we are jumping in and doing it quickly.
So why didn’t we do it before? Because we had time. We had lots and lots of time to decide.
Urgency will make you do some crazy things!
Our online billing started today. Our pay gas pump is ready at the end of the week. We are implementing a video check in for our boat rentals and that process is just beginning. And we have a digital program going in place for our inventory control.
The thing is… people have gone online for classes, they’ve put up shields for cashiers at stores, there are new processes to check out. Guess what. The world has changed right before our eyes.
If you don’t believe it… when was the last time you went to the airport and actually met someone at the gate? Probably around 9/10/01.
This revolution, however, just eliminated a whole bunch of jobs. I don’t mean to be a downer, but the automation systems that just went into place are not going to be removed.
Why am I mentioning this?
Because the ideas you have require action. It’s better to make the decisions and implement them on your own time table… I’m glad we did research the processes prior to implementing, but dang it… if we had started implementing in January instead of April, it would have been calmer.
But sometimes we all just need a shove!
