How do you earn loyalty from your customers?  You spoil them. 

I love sharing marketing tips that help bond you with your tribe.  Often I find these because I’ve done them OR it’s because I’ve come across the idea.

Well, today I’m sharing the latter.

Tuesday was my birthday.   Yeah, birthdays are crazy.  People are typically nice when they acknowledge you… but the ironic thing are the number of emails you get from businesses.

I did get some cute reminders.  I got a special take over on Bing… yes, Google too… and of course a couple discounts.

WHY?

I mean, it’s nice, but WHY

Because they can.  Because they’re trying to stay top of mind… it’s not because they sincerely believe in my birthday.  They have no clue. It’s sent on auto pilot.  But they do it because they’re thinking ahead!

So what can you do? What way can you acknowledge your tribe’s birthday?z

Send an email, include on a welcome board, put on a page on your website, send a card… I find it ironic that more people don’t use the birthday search in Facebook… but Oh well, that’s not the topic… what can you do ?

Well, you can’t do anything unless you ask for a customer’s birthday!  Start here.  Today, start asking on your email survey for a birth date!  This way, if you collect the information and you decide to start sending emails relevant to their special day you sure can.  Right now, without even having the basic data you can’t.  Turn the can’t into a can!
