TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 981 – Why Do You Need to Check the Height Weight Chart to Continue to Do Business?

What a day!  Our blog post starts with a standard height weight chart.

UGH.

Might not want the truth, eh?  Check it out!

Now how are you feeling about yourself?

hahaha

So what the heck am I including a height weight chart on our traditional “Infinity Customer” day…?

Well… lots of you are here because you have real world businesses.  It might be a small store attached to your bigger business and the concept of finding the best way to build a tribe is profitable.

It’s important to build your tribe!  I love doing it.  It’s fun for me to serve my customers with information they desire…

This happens to be one of those moments.

We are getting closer to our busy summer services at our family marina. Part of my job is to seek out answers in regards to changing laws and practices.

Well what the heck.

I happened to look at the White House Three Phase roll out… and oh my goodness.  I found this…

What the heck… your vulnerable adult category has been expanded to high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, asthma… Check this out for yourself at the White House site.

I don’t want your politics on this one… I want your business head.

You are building a tribe.  Your store is a gift shop in a shopping mall… how do you proceed with the above statement.

There is a government height/weight chart available to your use… do you restrict people from coming into your store?  How about restricting the access to the mall itself?

This is for real.

How do you function as a business… there is so much talk about taking temperatures and asking questions about travel history and health… but can you honestly see yourself asking someone coming into your restaurant to step on a scale?  If they’re off the chart do you say, ‘sorry you can’t come in”

What about asking each person coming into your store, do you have asthma or diabetes…I mean, what business is it of yours?

Well, I’m going to suggest getting on the phone and contacting your insurance company to see if you have coverage.

Whether your a dance studio, restaurant, or marketing consultant… can you meet with obese customers without the risk of being accused of causing their exposure to illness?

Real guys… this is real.

I’ve spent a lot of time on the phone and have not been able to get an answer.  I’ve asked about obtaining a waiver to have customers sign where they assume the responsibility of risk to use the facilities, and have received zero from both the insurance company and the attorneys.

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT TO DO WITH THE ADDED RED CIRCLE INFORMATION.

You need to educate yourself on this exposure… I can’t imagine a school, public or private, bringing back teachers once they are aware of the above expanded base.  But what do you do… have everyone step on a scale.

bad

Your customers are super important, and I’ll tell you a quick story, we’ve dealt with weight restrictions on our boats for decades.  One time we really angered (embarrassed) someone by accident when we confirmed weight on the boat.

It’s your tribe you’re building and you want them to come back over and over… but you also do need to make sure you are protected from exposure. Check it out!
