“Be careful of your thoughts, they may become words at any moment”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Today’s inspiration has inspired me in several ways so I’m going to have some fun.  Tuesday is when we focus on two C’s of the Infinity Marketing Machine – that’s Content and Consistency.  These two are vital to creating great information to transition your customers into a loyal tribe.

Tribes like one leader that motivates them.  It’s important for you to have a strong sense of where you are going as a business to have customers follow you, and support you.  If we look at today’s inspiration it has several hidden meanings.

If I say it out loud, depending on your mood you could interpret it as a “get motivated” set of words.  Seriously, you better be careful your thoughts can become words!  If you have negative thoughts… “Ugh, I don’t want to slip on the ice” and thing you’re sitting on the ground.  OR “I will get the orders done and shipped today” and you do!  Your words are vital to your day.  I like the phrase, “what you believe you achieve.”

Next… when we read today’s inspiration we learn that our thoughts translate into words that can be interpreted very different depending on the listener.  At our marina we sell inner tubes and rafts.  We sell them inflated because our customers are heading on the boat and it is a huge convenience for them!

We also sell gasoline.

When we sell a tube, we need to replace it on the display.  We do this by taking a new tube out of a package and using our air compressor.  I refuse to say “blow up a tube” we “inflate a tube”.  This is critical because of my aforementioned “what you believe you achieve”.  Maybe it’s strange, but we sell gasoline!  Let’s eliminate the phrase “blow up” ok?!?

Now, the funny thing is… I’m very aware of this phrase, but you know what happened last week?  I was at the doctor to have the sun damage on my skin checked.  He asked, “what do you use?” and I said “suntan lotion”.   He had the exact same look of disgust as I do when someone says, “blow up a tube”.  He said, “sun block or sun screen” — HA!  Yes, I got my philosophy thrown against me… be careful of the words you choose.

Finally, my third example of a meaning behind today’s inspiration is this… take it as a challenge.  Careful… your thoughts can become your words!  You sit and look at a blank paper or blank screen, but as soon as you type or write your words it becomes a blog post!  So go for it.

What you see is not always what you get.  We just discussed that today’s inspiration can be a motivational quote.  It can be a challenge to get you to write a blog post.  It can also be a word choice selector and that words to one mean something different to another.  And finally these three examples show that we create a fourth example that the first read needs a second so you don’t operate on assumptions.

Today, do all four in one!  Be inspired to write a post that is motivating, but think about your word choice so you don’t catch someone off guard!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #484 – Be Reliable. That’s all.

“Don’t be reliable when it’s convenient”

Tuesday Topic: Content and Consistency

Imagine it’s New Years Eve.  You’re counting down… 6…5…4…3…2…1…

Then Nothing.

45 seconds later…

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It would be an awkward moment, wouldn’t it?!?

New Year’s Even parties must be reliable.  Just like the 10:00 news.  How about the time the bus or train arrives.  These are things we set our clock by.

The way to realize how important reliability is happens when you’re listening to the morning news and the host on the east coast says it’s 7:03am instead of “3 after the hour”!   You’re in the central time zone thinking you’re an hour late!   That’s like a jolt of cold water in your shower.

This is the power of reliability.

Develop this mindset as you create content for your followers.  I use Tuesday to discuss the second and third “C’s” of the Infinity Marketing Machine… that’s Content and Consistency.

When you take the time to create content for your audience, it’s a gift.  This means your customers anxiously await it!  Think about your birthday as a child… you waited and waited… Your customers wait for your content. It’s important.  The loyalty of your following is built when you allow them the security that your content will arrive.  If you send something regularly for 3 weeks, then disappear… people will wonder where you went.  Don’t create stress in your customer, create confidence.

Create content and consistently deliver it.  Again, this is how you build loyalty and how the customers convert into a tribe.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 478 – Keep Writing. Just Keep Writing.

“Just because you can’t measure it doesn’t mean it’s not real”

Tuesday: Content & Consistency

If you can’t measure it if you can’t manage it.  Yeah… that’s true and yet it’s not. There are times I create content and I wonder if anyone is reading it.

Most recently was our newsletter, TonkaThursday.

We have been creating this for a little over a year.  And you can monitor open rates and you can monitor how many are on your subscription list… but it’s hard to monitor it’s impact.

This newsletter is not about our marina, it’s about activities in our surrounding area.  The festivals and gatherings are emphasized. We rarely put information about our marina in the newsletter, other than on the masthead.

SO… is it effective?

Well, yesterday a customer stopped in our store and signed up for Winter Storage.  He was getting ready to leave the state for the winter.  He said, “will I still get TonkaThursday”?  He went on to say that many times he and his wife would look at it to find out what to do over the weekend.

It’s hard to monitor effectiveness of the publication, but one customer, leaving the state, is looking to stay connected with the area… so much so that he stopped in to make sure of it!

This is the best feeling of all!  It’s the reason we work so hard on creating content for our Infinity Marketing Machines.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 472 – You Are Going To Be Rich…

“Life has its own hidden forces which you can only discover by living.” Soren Kierkegaard

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Today’s the day you are going to become rich!  (But only if you charge for it.)

I’m going to share a thought process with you that was quite an eye opener for me.

This eye opener is extremely obvious… yet, sometimes the simplest things are the most overlooked.

Let’s figure out how to value your time.  And by value, I mean price it, charge for it, and collect it.

Often I’ve tried to figure out how to price my time.  What is my time worth?  I mean I’m pretty cool so it must be worth a lot right?  Therefore, I charge accordingly.

But it always bewilders me…

Why do people short change themselves?  So, this is the “flip flop” question you need to answer…

Why are you short changing yourself?

My recommendation, you need to consider ALL of your time, this includes… travel time.  If you work at “on site” locations such as you travel to somewhere to do your thing… like a lawn care company, you need to factor your time to get there AND return.  If you are a wedding planner and you visit site A, B, and C to accomplish Bridezilla’s wishes… you need to wrap your travel time into your pricing.

That’s a fairly obvious pricing concept.  But now here’s the eye opener.

You must consider…  the USE value vs the CASH value of your product.

I was first exposed to this concept from Wallace Wattles in “The Science of Getting Rich”.  And this is the point.

Price something according to the USE value, not just the CASH value.  Often we factor the cost of something (cash value) add a mark up (typically our time) and that’s it.

But what is the USE value of the item?

Mr. Wattles says to consider an Eskimo.  If you have a priceless painting and trade it for furs you have ripped him off because the priceless painting is worthless because he cannot use it!  But if you trade a gun for the furs, he can use the gun to get more furs and in return make more money. The gun has use value to him.  PS: this book was written before the internet and I know… he could just sell the priceless painting – but let’s go to the core issue.

USE value is a concept that needs to be recognized in your pricing structure!

Think of a book.  It’s bound paper with ink letters. That’s not super expensive to create.  However, the ink letters form words and thoughts that you USE.  The USE value can be enormous.

This is why when you buy my Infinity Marketing Machine System you are actually making an investment in your USE value.  I have created the process by trial and error.  However, when I followed the steps myself I can directly attribute over $100,000 in 15 weeks from it’s success.  Now, I’m not going to charge $100,000 – but, the use value of the system is much higher than the paper and ink you receive in the mail.  It’s a system that works when you must combine your will and dedication to implement.

This is how you recognize the USE value.

Starting today, you need to consider the USE value in your product pricing.

I am a big believer in raising prices.  It’s the concept of “getting paid what you’re worth”.

You need to compensate for your cost plus your time – but also consider getting away from a CASH value pricing structure and start dabbling in a USE value for setting pricing a little higher than you have been.  You still need to be competitive, but start selling the USE value to your customers and guess what… you can start charging for it!

The hidden benefit to USE value… it helps you attract customers that you want to work with, instead of getting the customer you have to work with.

Why did I pick this for my “Content and Consistency” blog post?  I wanted to show you that content is not a chore. It should be useful to your readers.  If you found it useful, like the post… that’s how I’ll know it was worth it to create and share!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 466 – Barkworthy Content

“One dog barks at something, and a hundred bark at the bark.” Chinese Proverb

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Mr. Pancake is helping me out with today’s post.  That’s the dog in the photo… he is the perfect inspiration for today’s theme.  After all, I took this photo and three seconds later he was on full alert because a dog outside barked.

This allows me to ask the question, do you bark at something or just bark because someone else did?

Meaning… do you provide content that people want to read, or do you just pass along “stuff”.

Not every piece of content you write or record will bring you tons of likes or comments, but you need to make sure that you’ve got something to say!

Create a content calendar for yourself!

This doesn’t have to be super intense, but it will help to put important dates for your business in one central location.  I recommend doing this once a month… let’s say the 25th…  that way you don’t miss the 1st!

Include all of your important deadlines, National “day of” events, town festivals, and tribe building things like birthdays!

I created a “Best and Simple” version that I sell on Etsy — you can check it out.  Honestly, you can do this on your own with a few moments of quiet and a blank calendar, but check it out and see if it would be helpful to you!

Remember, it’s OK to bark with the crowd… but sometimes you need to bark first!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – E460 – Five is for Fire

“Storytelling is a powerful communication tool to get your message across.”

Tuesday: Content and Creation

Yesterday our Store Manager said, “Shoot… my assignment is due by 7pm”.  She’s in college… It was 3:00pm.  The assignment was for her Sign Language class.

The goal of the assignment is to take the numbers 1 to 10 and tell a story.  Oh, it had a twist.  The story she needed to create had to associate a word with a similar motion to the number… so it’s like a “one bun” “two shoe” rhyme, but in sign language, the signs look similar so it’s equally as memorable.

She was so stressed, then finally started telling the story of a cute fire fighter.  For example the number 5 is all fingers extended palm facing your nose.  To make the sign for fire you fan your finger in the motion of flames.  The more the story came together, the more excited she got!

Her story taught the numbers and it did it in a fun memorable way.  Her goal was to teach the numbers.  She had a goal and an outcome and she met her deadline.

Did you see what I did?  I told a story.

More important, for your content creation purpose, I taught you that having a goal and an outcome are important for your story.

Goal: teach the numbers in sign language.  Outcome: told a story.

When you want to teach your customers something.  Remember we’re always teaching.  We teach about our products/services.  The best way to teach is through story.

You just learned a creative way to create content via story telling AND you learned how to sign FIRE along with the number 5!

Today: create a post, but use a story.  Come up with your desired goal and outcome and wrap it in a nice little story to teach your customers!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #454 – Are You an Impatient Butterfly?

“Stop rushing the process. Instead, perfect the art.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Question: How do you write what your tribe wants to read?

My Answer: I don’t think you do… I think you write what YOU want to write.  But I do have a mini-formula that will soon reveal itself.

OK, here’s what I mean by writing what YOU want… I think you write from your heart. You write what inspires you and you simply let it flow.  Get the ideas in your head to flow right on the paper (or keyboard) – adopt a mindset that “it’s important to share”.

Now, here’s the deal.  Focus less on the sentence structure and focus more on message.  When that happens you can focus on a title to grab attention. When that happens, you can include a call to action.

You want your readers to do something… but you have to attract them… and in the middle of all that is… your message.  If you skip a step your message gets lost!

Check this out:

  1.  I create a great message and call to action… but the title is bland.  No one reads it.
  2. I create a great title and message… but no call to action.  It’s read and forgotten.
  3. I create a great title and great call to action… but fluffy message. You lose credibility.

When you change your mindset to creating posts that are helpful and appreciated by your tribe all you have to do is: create a title to attract, create a message that’s useful, and create a call to action to help them.

That’s it.
Easy.

Your map to creating a “perfect” post is simple.  But this does not mean you can rush the process, after all, it is an art.  If we’re impatient, we only have caterpillars.  The world needs beautiful butterflies, not impatient ones.

Take a moment, use this mini-formula, and write one great post… TODAY! Use my Title, Message, Call to Action formula — and don’t forget the hashtag #doinginfinity
