TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 722 – Habits Start by Starting!

Quote:  “We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.” ~ John Dryde

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

Today is your habit forming chance to make a difference. I’ve learned that habits make all the difference in my ability to “level up”.

This blog is a great example, I’d love for you to get motivation from — not just the words on the is page, but the daily post habit! I started out to see if I could do one month – one solid month of writing every day…

That happened.

Then I tried for three months… again, smashed that!

I decided (notice the word decided) – I decided to do one solid year… now I’ve past two solid years of daily posts.

The habit has transformed me… I can in a quick turn around write an article.  And I love that!

My most recent habit — I started “stretching”.  This seems like an “easy” habit — not so much, it HURTS.  But the silly thing is, after about the 3rd day in a row, I notice my back felt better.  I’m not at 100% on the “every day” habit, but, I’m getting closer AND more bendy.

Today – is the first day of your new habit… what will it be?  More water, saving your change, paying cash, meditating, stretching… writing a blog?

Just start

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 715 – How to Recognize When It’s Time To Take A Break.

Quote: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes…
Including You.”

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  But if it is broke?  You stop right…

What about when your computer has that little blue froot loop circle spinning round and round and round…

You unplug it.

This is a good analogy for YOU.  When you feel like the blue spinning circle you’ve got to stop and unplug.

Trust me.

Everyone needs to unplug.  The easiest way to recognize the need to unplug is when you are trying so hard to get something done, or to accomplish a task that you simply cannot do it.

It’s not easy, it’s not fun, and you’re really frustrated…that’s when you unplug.

Today I want you to recognize a moment when you need to get up and walk it off.  Go outside, take a little stroll.  OR at least get up and change your view.

Going back to what ever task you were working on will be more successful after you “unplug” – and you know it will be great — but often we’re really bad at recognizing when.. so that’s your task…

Recognize when.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 709 – Eat the Kale.

Quote: “All you need is the plan, the road map & the courage to press on to your destination.” e.nightingale

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

Do you have the courage?  This seems to be the big thing that stops people from achieving their goal.

Think about it.

You come up with a goal… you make a plan on how to achieve the goal. And congratulations. You’ve set a goal.

It’s like when you want to lose weight, so you go to the store, buy Kale.  You are so motivated for this “eat healthy” portion of your life to begin and you actually buy the Kale.

You get home, put it in the fridge… right next to the cookie dough.

Two weeks later, the Kale is moldy.

Setting the goal is easy and putting a plan in place is also easy — but actually having the courage to eat the kale… that’s difficult.

The ACTUAL taking action portion of your life is hard.  It’s the scary part that takes courage.

Today…

EAT THE KALE.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 702 – It’s Good to be Right

Quote: “The most important person you ever talk to is yourself, so be careful what you say.” ~JC Maxwel

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

It’s funny how you think you can’t and you don’t… and you know what that make you?

It makes you right!

But wouldn’t it be better to be right for thinking you can and doing?

We are very aware of what we eat and how it affects our bodies, but rarely do we think about the garbage we put in our heads.

It’s hard to get on board the positive train when we’re in the muck or are striving for a goal that seems so far off, but you need to tell yourself you can.

It’s the concept of the “fake it until you make it” – if you act like you’ve already achieved success, you will…

And by act I mean actually start believing it.  It’s hard to think “heck I’m skinny like a supermodel as you’re eating donuts” so you there is a little “real world” action you need to take on your positivity journey.

If that seems complicated, let’s simplify.  For Today… be careful what you feed your mind!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #696 – When You are Stuck, Stop and Look Around.

Quote: One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.― Henry Miller

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

Have you ever had that feeling you are running in place and just not getting anywhere?  OMG that has been my last week!

I’ve accomplished a lot of THINGS… but the problem is, right now…it feels like tasks to check off on a list.

Ever felt like that?

I guess today’s quote leads can lead us to a different perspective… we can have all the checklists in the world, but we also need to learn to see things as a journey.

Its not that we’re trying to get somewhere but we are on a path and growing each day.

So when you feel stuck, running in place, and not getting anywhere, pause and soak it all in because you still need to enjoy all that life offers.  And maybe, just maybe, the reason you feel stuck is because you’re SUPPOSE to recognize the life around you, otherwise you would be moving…

Right?!?!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 690 – Zero Means Nothing, But, Losing Zeros Makes The Answer So Clear!

Quote: “There are only 3 colors, 10 digits, & 7 notes; its what we do with them that’s important.” – Jim Rohn

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

This quote just caught my eye.  There are only 3 colors.  That sure puts a different perspective on the day you feel overwhelmed, doesn’t it?!

When your head is spinning and you have that dreaded analysis paralysis… just remember to make it simple.

Take things back to the basics – blue and yellow makes green!  Green is complicated but blue and yellow are simple.

I really like when Glen Beck did this in an example of the economy back in 2012.

Click here to see the article

“Beck offers some compelling food for thought below:

  • U.S. TAX REVENUE: $2,170,000,000,000
  • FED BUDGET: $3,820,000,000,000
  • NEW DEBT: $1,650,000,000,000
  • NATIONAL DEBT: $14,271,000,000,000
  • RECENT BUDGET CUTS: $38,500,000,000

“Sanity replaces insanity” by erasing the zeroes:

  • ANNUAL FAMILY INCOME: $21,700
  • MONEY THE FAMILY SPENT: $38,200
  • NEW DEBT ON THE CREDIT CARD: $16,500
  • BALANCE ON THE CREDIT CARD: $142,710
  • TOTAL BUDGET CUTS: $385″

This is easy to see, when you lose 8 zeros, that you’re in big trouble! If your household income was $21,700, and your balance on the credit card was $142,000 you’re in very big trouble!  AND when you do a budget cut of $385 you’ve cut NOTHING.

However, when the numbers are hidden by zeros — the budget cuts of 38 billion seem like an amazing savings!  But they’re not.

Remember you only have 10 digits — simplify.

Today… just simplify.  When you are overwhelmed, when you’re confused, or when you’re stuck – bring your life back to the basics.  Determine what is important and then make your decision!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 684 – Tell the Giant Growling Monster to Shut Up!

Quote: “Keep learning, be the better you every tomorrow.”

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

Dog: “bark bark bark bark”

Me: “Stop barking”

Dog: “bark bark bark bark BARK BARK”

There a storm going on outside and my dog, Mr. Pancake, is going crazy.  I feel bad for him, because he’s scared.  He hates storms and they freak him out.

I heard a quote today that those who talk to their dog have a higher intelligence than those that don’t talk to their dog.

Well, right about now I’m a genius!  (honestly… I’ve never met a person that doesn’t talk to their dog – that’s strange to me.)

Anyway.

Back to Mr. Pancake.  He’s barking. I’m talking to him. And he’s still barking.

There’s nothing you can do with a dog, they simply can’t be reasoned with…they’re great for fetch, snuggles, and make great listeners… but you cannot teach them to understand that thunder is not a giant monster growling at them.

You are not a dog.

If you find yourself barking make sure to figure out if it’s something scary or an irrational fear.

Sometimes your giant growling monster is just thunder.
