ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #512 – Volunteer Your Space

If you’re looking for a better way to “social media” at your business… grab your free copy of my guide #doinginfinity.

Saturday: Try This

It’s important to be a good citizen in your community… but it does get overwhelming with the constant asking for donations.

You want to help… but at a certain point you do have to look out for your business.

So what can you do?

Offer your space!  I don’t mean your physical space in your building…

Is there a way you can put a sticker on your box or a flier in your bag… how about a flier in a bill you send out.  There a lots of ways you can help spread the word!

Today I was picking up a pizza and the top of their box were stickers for two upcoming up events… one is a free movie sponsored by the fire department and the other is a fundraiser for teens.

Both are a great way to help out the organization.  You can say “yes” without hurting your own finances, and you share with your tribe a useful way they can take part in something fun, too!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #506 – Chalkboards are the New Social Media?

Saturday: Try This

Ideas like this make me smile.  The reason I’m so happy with this idea is because of multi-benefit it creates!

It is also super simple!

Get a chalk board… or a dry erase board… or one of those neon boards.

Next, hang it up in your store or your office.

Get into a pattern of writing a “thought of the day”

Finally, post on social media sites.

Here’img_8043.pngs the multi-functional part… You create content, you create content EASILY, your “real world” visitors and staff get the benefit of the positive vibe AND you get the extra mileage of posting online!

You can also do modified version of a “special of the day”… “featured <thing> like a dress, car, dancer” really anything that relates to your business can because your local star of the day!

It’s just a fun idea with so many possibilities.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 500 – Help Someone Find You

“The moon is the first milestone on the road of the stars.” Arthur C Clarke

Saturday: Try This!

Which way are you coming from?

There used to be a time when people would call and ask for directions.  This relied on your staff having to give directions and your customer having to understand the directions.

NOW… “Hey Siri” or a Search gets you where you need to go.  I thought driving was the main source of automated directions, until I saw the new directories at the Mall of America.

Not only do you see where the store is… it has an animated arrow to guide you!

img_5123

It might be impossible to give your customers a guided arrow, however, what can you give them?  Bring someone with you, jump in your car, and film the journey from the main highway to your business.  Get out of the car and film the walk from car, to elevator, to front desk.

Prospective customers will appreciate this!

They are used to Google or Siri… but they can’t be everywhere (yet) – so help your customers find you!  Film the journey.  We did this at the boat yard… super helpful for first time visitors.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 494 – Bond With Your Area

Saturday: Try This!

Make a connection.  Recently I stayed at a nearby hotel.  It’s just a chain hotel but the neat thing they have done is selected decor that bonds with our resort area.

They have selected to do it via historical photos.  Sure, some visitors may not notice they are specific to the area because they look like art.

But…. if you have a connection to the area you quickly realize they are actually “old time” lake photos.  The one below is the steamboat docks in Excelsior from the 1800’s.  The docks are still there, but the steam boats have been swapped out for large dinner cruise boats.

Other examples I’ve seen in our area include the two grocery stores have named the aisles after the bays on our lake.  There are at least two other hotels that have named their ball rooms after the bays.

So whether it’s aisle names, photos, restaurant food names, or even specials…select your area attractions or even school colors/mascots! There are many ways to show your customers that you are part of the community.  We strive to attract customers that know, like, and trust us… when you strengthen the bond you will build loyalty.  This is critical to your Infinity Marketing Machine!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #488 – You’ve Gotta Sit Down for This…

Saturday: Try This!

On Saturday’s I like to use a real world marketing examples that I think are fun.  If you have one to share… I’d love to see it.

Today’s “Try This” is a reminder to stay classy.  You can use potty humor but you can do it in a non-crass way.

This was on the inside of the stall at the car wash… It’s a pretty funny ad.

Put your thinking cap on… Can you sEE it?

hahahahaha

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 482 – Doggy In the Window… or Picture Frame.

Saturday: Try This

I had a good time at the dog food store yesterday.  It’s always fun to see what stuff they sell for dogs.

I’ve talked about it before, but I’ll repeat it… there’s an entire store devoted to dog food.  When you really want to see amazing marketing, just walk into one of these stores.

When it comes right down to the basics, you could buy food for your dog at the grocery store, and I don’t mean bagged kibble.  It’s just like human food.  But, there’s now a huge industry for the whoof whoof and thus, an entire store full of dog food!

So back to the “Try This” portion of the blog.

When I checked out I noticed on the counter a simple piece of paper.  Email your dog’s photo to the store manager and they’ll put on the in store photo frame!

This is EASY and IMPACTFUL!

It’s major marketing at the local level.

It’s also tribe building.  People love to see photos of their dog.  This makes their dog ultra cool!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #476 – Let the Chips Fall Where They May

Saturday: Try This!

OK – unlike the title, don’t let the chips fall!  Create a new space for them.

The grocery store in my area has been remodeling and look at this… an ugly support pole that was a navigation hazard is now a valuable retail space.

You might not think that such a small area has any use in a big grocery store…

BUT

This is a convenience food area, you know they space, where you run into and grab lunch or dinner!  It’s the perfect place for potato chips.

img_5044

Take a look around your retail space, is there room dynamic that is “in the way” that could be made into valuable space?

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 470 – Don’t Unplug…Plug In

Saturday: Try This

Make your customers comfortable! Yesterday, I came across an interesting idea I thought I’d share…

Have you ever been at a restaurant and your cell phone battery is going down, down, down?  Why not install a charging outlet.

The photo was from the booth at Wahlbergers.  You know the restaurant from the famous brothers, which it was determined I am the only person on the planet to have seen zero movies by them…   I also am unfamiliar with the music, although “back in the day” I did like New Kids on the Block.  whew.

Food is good… go try it. 🙂

But here’s why I’m mentioning my visit.  It’s a cool feature of the restaurant… they put charger stations at the booth!  It was down on the wall next to the seat cushion base.  A super easy convenience.

Imagine in your waiting area if you had this type of outlet.  You could even do this today with an extension cord and adapter.  Just do something that makes it easier for your customers running low on battery power.

It’s a great idea!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 464 – Go Live, Get Pearls!

Saturday: Try This!

Go Live!

Ok, it’s not exactly what you think… but we’ll get to the thing you are thinking of!

EPCOT at Disney World is kind of a cool place. I like the International Showcase. I was a student in Japan for a semester and the EPCOT version is pretty true to real which makes me believe the other countries are realistic, too.

The last time I was at EPCOT I noticed a new attraction. Inside the Japan shopping store (which really is like the department stores in Japan) – they had a cool, live, interactive feature of finding a pearl in an oyster.

I noticed it because of all the people standing around watching… well, that made me need stop and watch!

The excitement of just opening the oyster to see the treasure inside is fun enough, but the addition of an overhead video monitor to “see for yourself” when you’re standing behind a row of three deep people is… thoughtful.

It’s worth considering as a business in the recretainment industry (any industry specializing in recreation or entertainment) you need to add a live feature.  The oyster/video monitor is a wonderful example.

Back to my original “Live” hint… you can use live on a social platform, too.  How?  Anytime you take the opportunity to communicate with your audience in a “real time” fashion is… cool.  Could you imagine getting a lunch time view of the beach at your favorite resort?  That would be amazing!

Use your creativity and add an experience!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode#458 – Sell Air.

Saturday: Try This!

Can you charge extra for air?

Yesterday I received a box from Amazon.  Inside was the ink cartridge I ordered… and air pillows.

OK, I have no idea what they’re called.  Not bubble wrap… but those large pillows of air trapped in plastic that are no fun to pop.

Well, I was in the middle of stabbing them and realized my dad needed packing material for a box he was shipping… oops.

Well… I said, I can get some duct tape and blow them up.  Air is free!  He was not happy with me.  (one of the joys of working with family).  But…. it got me to thinking of a visit to a grocery store in Florida.

There was a great display area right by the entrance.  It was full of rafts and inner tubes… inflated!

What’s better than buying a tube?  Buying an inflated tube!  If you are fortunate enough to have a few moments to jump in the pool, do you want to spend any time inflating the raft?

Heck no!

But… it’s beyond exciting to grab your raft, cram it in your car, go home and float!

You know what I thought was exciting…???  They charged $2.00 more for the inflated version.  So amazingly cool.

Alrightie

How can you use this idea, especially if you don’t sell inner tubes?  Think about the stuff you sell.  What do you sell that requires assembly… assemble it!

PS:  Don’t forget to charge for the air… or assembly!
