When you have friends arrive at your home and they ring the doorbell… do you leave them outside?  NO… you open the door and invite them in.

Why?

Because you want to welcome them…

What else do you do?  Take their coat, show them where to sit… offer them something to drink

WHAAAAT?

Of course.  “Would you like coffee?” or  “I have some soda or water… would you like some?”

Right – -you give them something to help make them feel welcome.

Look at what I found – it’s an awesome beverage stand at the office supply store…

It’s a free coffee and water bar.  You just help yourself.

This is a terrific amenity.  It allows you to slow down and enjoy your visit to the store… much in the same way your guest feels in your home.

Get it?

By offering customers a free beverage for their visit you’ve welcomed them into your “home”.

This is total real world tribe building! And it’s all for the price of a cup of coffee.

PS:  Sorry for the delay in posting — my mom broke her ankle last night.  She’s doing well… much better than I would be, it was pretty nasty.   A special thanks to the two men that found her in the yard, gave her immediate care, and got a hold of me… and also to the entire ER staff!  Amazing.

Keep it simple.  Increase sales with this simple idea.

Make a sign — put it by your product.

Yep… this week is that simple.

OK, there’s a little more to my explanation.  In my opinion we are making things too difficult. You are trying to figure out when when to post, how many times to post, and what to post – and you forget you’re in business to SELL.

I went to pick up new shoes the other day.  It’s not what you think, I was on a parts run and needed new brake shoes for a trailer.

That brought me from the city desk to the will call and right next to the will call was a pop machine (remember I’m from Minnesota).

Did you see what’s on the pop machine?  That snazzy high tech announcement of new products.  It’s a pre-made half sheet of paper that had blank lines that you write new flavors on.

That’s it.  Scotch tape (remember I’m from Minnesota), a marker, and a sign.  Hang it in the area you’re drawing attention to.

It really doesn’t get much simpler!

Increase sales… now.  Look around your office/business/website and draw attention.  You can even make the sign, take a photo, and post the photo online – I know that’s a little more complicated.

BUT

Focus on increasing sales!

This is an amazing idea and it’s something you can do!

This is an immediate feedback opportunity.  Ask one question at the time someone checks out… and put it on a touch screen.

I stopped at a local convenience store and this popped up when the sale cashed out…

It’s a super simple question… how was the experience… just touch the red dot.

There’s no explanation of how to even use the touch screen.

It’s simple and the gal at the counter says they get lots of people that participate.  Imagine the trend statistics this creates.  You can see how your customers feel, immediately and make changes right away.

Earlier this week I traveled “downtown”.  I live in the suburbs so going downtown is always slightly overwhelming…

So imagine me driving up and down the aisles of the super narrow parking ramp that’s below the sky scraper… it’s like making corners where you simply assume you’ll make it without hitting any other cars but you’re just not sure.

So I took a left and there was an odd set up – cars parked and a shelving unit with lots of auto parts… I’m like “what the heck?”

I parked, looking back, I’m pretty sure I wasn’t suppose to park there… but I did.  I got out of my car and encountered this at the elevator.

What a fantastic idea.  You can get your oil changed right in the parking ramp.  OK maybe I’m a little late to the game on the parking ramp oil change thing… but think about how you can use this idea at your business.

No… don’t start an oil change profit center.

BUT do start a make it super convenient where your customer is at location.  There are two ways to do this… offer a service when they visit you OR off your service off sight.

The oil change is offering your service off site.

An onsite service would be like the old school days when you could drop your film to be developed off at the grocery store.  In today’s terms, it would be like offing a service for clients to drop off dry cleaning…

That gives you two things to think about.

What service can you bring off site OR what can you bring on site to make life more convenient for your customers.

I love profit centers.

When I walked into the grocery store the other day I noticed something different at the Coffee store.  Yes, there’s a full coffee shop inside the grocery store – this itself could qualify as a profit center… but if it’s a leased space… then the rent is a profit center

but anyway…

Look at this — just to the left of the main area you order coffee is a neat little bin with T shirts!  Titled ‘Bou Fashions.

What a great tribe building idea!

Get people to buy your vibe and wear it… when what you actually do is sell coffee.

How can you do this at your store, whether online or in person… is there a way to add a completely different type of product, like T-shirts are to coffee, and grow your tribe?

BTW… T shirts are hot. So honestly, adding apparel with your brand just might work at your business, too!

Look what I found… a super easy, simple, and effective idea!  Grab a frame and put your advertisement inside.

That’s easy!

This was the bathroom at the hair salon I visited recently… it’s for some product they sell on the other side of the wall.

This is a cool memory recall idea.  Often you see this type of nice advertisement in a magazine, but you flip the page and forget about it…

Well, this framed ad has a unique advantage, you leave the restroom turn the corner and must see the product!

What a great opportunity, create your ad, put it in your ad in a frame that matches your style… then… make sure to have that actual product in the walking path of your customers!

This is an awesome idea.  I know… it’s from Disney Springs and to make it more specific… from Cirque Du Soleil.

It’s a world famous show from a world famous location… how on earth can you use it at your business.

Well… if you see something like this what do you do?

You go right up to the design, stop… pose… snap a photo… then post!

Make it easy for your customers to promote your business.  I was talkig to my cousin earlier this week.  She’s at the final stages of building an amazing yoga studio.  She asked me if I liked the design she’s picking out for the main wall.

I said it’s great!

Then I mentioned she should think about adding her business name or logo… it’s a great location for her to film in front of!  You can mark mile stones like birthdays or goals met…  but it makes a permanent location to show consistency in your photos.

The branding helps when people scroll through their feeds…

This is how you use a world famous idea at your location!
