Episode #357 – What is the Goal After the Goal?

“If you are persistent you will get it. If you are consistent you will keep it.”

What do losing weight and saving money have in common?  Stopping exercising and spending cash!

When you achieve your weight loss goal or your savings goal it’s hard to switch to a sustaining mode. I mean how many people focus on life after the goal?

Now many… that’s why the weight loss industry is huge!  That’s also why financial planners always have a job!  People are horrible at maintaining.

This is why you can really see results with your social media plan if you just maintain consistency.  It’s “easy” to establish a goal of starting a blog… after all that’s the sexy part!  When you come up with your theme and even when you develop a plan, that’s fun.

The work comes by actually implementing the plan.

However, when you look at the information you are providing as a service that is important to your followers the “chore” of it is greatly diminished… it actually becomes fun to think about how your information will benefit your followers.

For example, regularly I’ll say you need to provide consistent content because it builds trust with your followers.  I’m not just writing that because it’s true, it’s because I really want the Infinity Marketing Machine to work for you… therefore it’s important that I say it over and over!  It’s a fundamental building block that will benefit you… however, it will be even more beneficial to YOUR readers.  That’s the audience you serve.

You are working hard (being persistent) to grow your audience… but anyone can grow an audience.  Your new goal is to keep your audience (with consistency).

Go for it.

Episode #352 – There’s Only One Reason Something Is Impossible

“The only impossible journey is the one you never begin…”

Welcome to Wednesday… the day we all stop, take a moment to breathe and get a little motivated!

However… if you haven’t started you don’t get to do the impossible!  Although, if you think about it, nothing is truly impossible because you have thought about it and if you can think it you can do it rendering it possible.

WOAH.

That’s a deep thought!  But it’s true.  Nothing is truly impossible!  Sure, you can see a tough road ahead or an obstacle in the way, but there’s always another path or some way around it.  When that happens you develop strength and skill!  It’s a little something for the next challenge that comes your way.

So you see… today’s inspiration is absolutely on target… the impossible journey is the one you never begin!

Don’t get stuck in the trap of looking at a very big “impossible” task and brushing it to the side.  Look at it, see which parts you can accomplish and which parts will require new skills.  The new skills can be learned as long as “impossible” is pushed aside.

Episode #351 – Go Live!

“You won the lottery. You have an expensive phone in your hand… go out and create content. NO excuses” from a Tweet…

Wow.  Were you looking for a reality check to start your Tuesday morning?  Here you go!

You have the equivalent of a TV broadcasting station in your pocket.  Not a video camera… but an entire broadcasting network!

I grew up in the 1980’s and had a Watchman, not a Walkman (although I did have one of those), but I had a Watchman.  That was a “pocket” TV.  It was about 12″ long and 6″ wide and 2″ thick.  With a black and white 2″ TV that operated off of open air waves.  I got the upgraded model with the radio.  It was $264.87 with tax.  I STILL remember it… I saved my money all summer long for it.  Well, now that I’ve gotten way off track (haha)…

My point is, the Watchman was a big deal.  And the only thing it did was receive open air waves for the big three networks and two independent stations.  That’s it.

Now, we all have a smart phone that is TINY.  It doesn’t just receive information but you can share information!  You don’t need a wire… you don’t even need to press save.  You just press “LIVE” — you build a tribe and just talk to them.

You can go live on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram… YouTube.  And it’s FREE. What on earth are you waiting for?  Imagine if only one platform had the technology and they charged $1,000 a minute to use it… would you be jealous?  You have access to FREE!  Just press LIVE!  GO… communicate!

Episode #344 – Here’s Why You Deserve Happiness.

“Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but from what we give.” Ben Carson

I’ve said it before, the qualities to focus on for the best positioning as a Subject Matter Expert are remembered by the phrase: INAHSClique.  Just like the qualities that form a high school clique… so do the same attributes form a Subject Matter Expert.  And when you think about it, the Jocks, the Popular Girls, and even the Nerds have these qualities within their “social stratus” – they are Influencer, Network, Ambassador, Honors, Study and Credentials.

Jocks:  They have studied and practiced their sport, earned titles, been in competitions where they are known in other areas, influence others and are ambassadors to their sport.  Yes… nerds, too… they study, earn certifications by studying, network with other nerds, and are influential.   So all the characteristics that make up involvement in a high school click are the same as those of your Subject Matter Expertise.

One difference…

You are positioning yourself as an expert, not a group.   You want to become the “go to” for your business/industry.  This is where some people get a little hung up.

You see… they can accept the anonymity of a group, and they may even be comfortable being the leader of the clique.  BUT, going solo bugs them.  They feel not deserving of the Subject Matter Expert title.

Well, with today’s internet dominance. You must toot your own horn. You need to get out there and claim your corner of the internet.  Never before did you open a newspaper and find a special section devoted to “people”.  There was never a place to go to make sure you were real.  The internet has a slight problem.  In the early days it was a “wild west” sort of environment.  That meant you could be whom ever you wanted.  People posted false photos and enhanced biographies.

Now that doesn’t work.  It’s especially doens’t work in terms of your business. For example, what happens if you own a hotel and you post photos of another hotel’s rooms (which are MUCH nicer) then people show up to stay… YIKES!  Nothing good, right?!?

Same for you personally.  When you take control and market (brag) about your honors, credentials, education, it will build your ambassador and influence within your industry.  These all factor together to build trust.  It’s the way to make yourself real!  It is a foundation of the Infinity Marketing Machine.  When you build trust, you build loyalty, and loyalty is what makes the machine go round and round.

If you are really struggling with “promoting” yourself as a Subject Matter Expert. Look to today’s inspiration.  Happiness is a direct result of what you give.  If you share information and knowledge, otherwise known as your expertise… you will be helping other people and that will make you happy.  Do it… you deserve happiness!
