It’s time for Content & Consistency… and guess what?!? My message is the same… be consistent.

But it’s a little more than that.  Let’s think about consistency for a quick moment.

You could never be an Olympic athlete or even play on the High School sports team unless you regularly practice.  You regularly develop you skills.

Your content is exactly the same!

I know… you may not see the value, because… you feel like you’re talking to yourself.

Guess what, you might be right now, but soon someone will search and find the post, video, or podcast episode you created.

Think about it.  While you are creating for today – it’s not “one and done” because when you post it becomes searchable.

This is the magic of the Infinity Marketing Machine!

When you create it compounds.  So it’s not just one article sitting is space… it’s every day compounded on the previous day… so I’m on episode 617… how crazy is that.  That give someone the opportunity to find over 600 posts I’ve written.

If you started last month and wrote twice a week you’d have 8 posts… when you write it becomes more natural.  It becomes easier.  And you build a voice to better relate to your audience… in essence your consistency builds your vibe!

An amazing vibe does not just happen, it is created, crafted, and practiced… and just like the athlete you cannot excel without practice.  So today’s quote is true… Success is never an accident, it’s a choice.

Here’s the fun thing… last week I said you need to “live Tribeology” – well… the success of Tribeology is based on your vibe… and we just discovered that your vibe is based off of practice.

So today’s “Try This!” tip is something I’m pretty familiar with because it’s at our marina.

A little later today we’re hosting an open house.  This is a great opportunity for our customers to visit the marina without having to take time off at this time of year.

However, it does pose a little problem because it’s winter and there is ice on the lake but we are selling summer recreation.

So what to do?

We put our boats from our Boat Club Fleet on display in our warehouse and invite people to visit.  But we go a little further to help explain the boats.

The reason we have discovered this little trick is that each boat has a “show piece” photo and that is the one that we use on every brochure.

when the customers visit it’s hard to visualize which boat is the one they love from the brochure because the boats are not floating and they are not “in action” driving.  By associating the boat with a photo, it reassures the customer they are looking at the boat they desire.

This helps build trust AND it helps build anticipation.

Look for opportunities where you can help bring the brochure or website to life in your store… I guess the simplest way is to keep profile photos current with human appearances.  If you were a heavy, dark haired, glasses wearing person and you lose weight highlight your hair and get contact lenses… meaning… you no longer look like your photo – Update it!

When your website matches your business you build trust.  So make sure all of your “pages” are on the same “page”.

Boy oh boy… today’s example traveled great distances.

I was scrolling through my feed the other day and someone posted a photo of their shipping label.  You know… you see these and normally it shows a wrong address, crushed box, or possibly an “unboxing”.

But this time it was simply entertaining.

 

When you pay attention to your vibe… When you Live Tribeology you can create magic like the Birchbox label.

Someone probably got the idea of adding a little message in the address bar.

In terms of “Big Money Small Change” Yowza!  This is a free vibe builder!

Look at it this way… their vibe translated from a social site, to a product, to the shipping label, all the way back to the internet and now here!

All for free!

This seems to be an easy “piece of real estate ” to use!

HINT: When I sell dog collars, I list the dog’s name on the label…

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #610 – Why I’m Going To Discuss How to Make a Hair Appointment Online.

The reason you have a plan is not to keep you on track when things go well, it’s for when things go rough.  I mean… if you’re going along “according to plan” you really don’t need the plan… or do you?

Well… pretend that today I chose the topic, “how to schedule a hair appointment using an online program”…

And then I went bullet point by bullet point on how to use a new online system.

This would make absolutely zero sense in context of our Tuesday Topic, “Content and Consistency”.  Although, I made an online hair appointment today, and it was very easy.  But in terms of my crafting an entire post about it is, well, odd.

This is why you need a plan.  You may think, “well teaching, bullet point by bullet point is content, and today’s topic is content, therefore I’ll write about how to create an appointment”

However, if you look at my Content Mission Statement you’ll quickly realize this would be a bad topic choice, for my audience.

WOAH

What is a Content Mission Statement?  It’s a statement that defines the content you will provide to your audience.  Basically, it is information they strongly desire and you are qualified to share with them.

There are three basic elements…

  1. Identify your core audience
  2. Determine what will be delivered
  3. Discuss how will they benefit

For example:  Empowering women with tips and tricks to stream line their time management skills.

Now… if that was my Content Mission Statement, WOW, my blog post which “bullet point by bullet point” discussed how to make an online hair appointment would make for an amazing content fit!

Get it?

This is what I want you to do today… define your Content Mission Statement to focus every single blog, podcast, post, or tweet you create.  What ever message you craft must receive a great big, “YES” when you ask, “Does this fulfill my Content Mission Statement?”

For the record, a blog post that discusses “how” a post about “how to schedule a hair appointment” does fulfill my Content Mission Statement… Seeeee my title doen’t seem so strange anymore, eh?!?!

What a fun day… I love finding real world ideas and sharing them here.  There’s just something rewarding about coming across a hot new tip when you least expect.

Speaking of least expecting it…

This is a photo of the bathroom at a hair salon… haha.   But seriously, it is.

When you think that “marketing” is just too expensive to engage in… or you’re worried that marketing costs too much.  Look at the photos.

They have a nice vanity with shelves.  I can imagine that it’s hard to fill a shelf in a bathroom because the nicer the “nick nacks” the higher the chance they walk away.

But you can’t leave a shelf empty – look what they did!

It’s an inexpensive acrylic frame with a special inside!

Your bathroom is valuable real estate for your marketing efforts.  Think about it… you have a captive audience that has the ability to take a little extra time to ponder your message.

Use this idea!  It’s simple.

I love days when we quote Abraham Lincoln.

Why?

Because it shows how timeless wisdom can be!  I’m using it to help explain the importance telling a story, telling your business success story!

This post needs no words.  Just look at it!

Congratulations to this woman, 30 lbs in six weeks. WOW!  Awesome for her…

But also, awesome to this fitness studio.  Not just for showing her a process to be successful in her transformation… but for sharing it in a simple way with their social feed.

Look, it doesn’t need words to say how she did it.  It’s super simple.

And, it’s super effective!

This is a classic transformation/before and after type success story. Think of a way you can do this!  If you are an orthodontist it’s a great visual process.  What about a before/after for house painting… we can do it at the marina for before/after on boat bottom cleaning.

This is such a small way to gain big results that we often over look it!

Business is designed to help other people by providing a product or service to better the life of someone else, therefore, business it’s self is a before/after.  So compile a list and utilize this tool.

Content is typically thought of as the words you speak or write… but then again we have photos so content doesn’t have to contain words.

So does content tell a story?  It can, but you can also create content that causes a vote… I mean, what else is a survey!

Your content is completely subjective and it’s about connection.  It could be through music or video.  There are lots of ways to create the connection you desire.

So what about your packaging.  Does packaging qualify as content.

Let me answer that with a question, have you ever seen an “unboxing”?

OH my we’ve actually created a word to describe the act of opening a package.

YIKES!

If there’s a word, you better pay attention to it.  So YES packaging is content, and it can create content.

The big difference you have over is this… you can create a personal connection via your packaging. Your vibe will translate through your thank you note, stickers, stuffing.

Amazon has that smile on the outside of the box, but typically nothing vibe worthy on the inside.

Therefore…this is an area you can knock your customers socks off!  I mean… here’s the deal… Amazon is affecting your pricing, you might as well capitalize on your vibe.  It will help with your return customers… I mean Infinity Customers!

Include a treat, a small momento, it could be a piece of candy, a rubber duck, a key chain.  It should not be expensive, it does not need to be a logo based item, but it must evoke your vibe.

Could you imagine if you sold movie memorabilia and inside the shipping box you included a bag of microwave popcorn with your thank you note?  That would be so cool!

I don’t have an online store associated with our marina.  I had one around 2006…  but if it were open right now, I’d include a thank you note and a smile face beach ball.  Why?  Our city has a smile face on the water tower and you can see the smile face on your way to our marina via the water!  AND it’s something you can use on the boat.

The smile face beach ball evokes emotion, becomes a vibe, and causes people to talk… it becomes your “no words needed” content.  If you include a hashtag sign in the box you’ll also receive social interaction.  Again, more content!  Gosh, this makes me want to open an online store for the boat yard!

Go the extra mile and think about what you can do as you expand your view of content!
