How can you serve your customer?  How can you lead your tribe? Two different ways to say the same thing.

Often I’ll write on Tuesdays with the message that you need to create content your tribe wants and needs… and I leave you to figure it out.

Most people jump on the post bandwagon and that’s great! It’s always useful to have posts to keep in touch.

But you can provide more!

The good news is I’m not going to leave you at that… haha

If you look at each of my posts, depending on the day I have a Free Download — it’a a PDF that has useful information related to the daily topic.

So how can you use this type of idea?

Start to develop information that can be downloaded and used later.  This could be recipes, fact sheets, or print outs. Something I’d like to do is create a “boating invitation” which our pontoon rental customers would receive that they could email to their friends.  That would be totally useful (I think I should probably make time to do it!)

OK…

So what can you do?

Think about how you can use these in your business for your tribe..

Create a downloadable report that compares new or old products… make a check list of what to do or bring, make a calendar or planning pages, Lesson plans, a video training series, template, a challenge, spread sheet/calculator, round-up on a topic, beautiful photo to frame, resource list (like area restaurants), wallpaper for your phone… and on and on!

That’s 12 new ideas for greater impact downloads and tribe bonding giveaways!  That gives you one idea for each month for an entire year!

Can you think of how to use each idea at your small business?  YES!  Take that idea and run… spoil your tribe.

Saturday: Try This!

Just when you think you don’t have space to display products, really you do.

This is a great example of how with a little creativity you can make space to feature a product.  Seriously, this was at a restaurant.  There was a tiny space on the countertop to the left of the cash registers.

The neat thing is this is not a “food” product its a T shirt!

They took the time to have shirts for sale and are created a display using shadow box frames.

It’s a display of the design AND a display to feature the products.  Both in a nice tight space.  They make money off of this counter space!

Take a look at your space and find the hidden treasures, meaning find the space you can put something for sale.  You don’t have to hang 40 shirts on a spinning rack — you can easily display ONE in a frame.  This idea is Amazing!

Happy 4th of July!

Have you ever tripped?  You’re walking along and… you don’t fall down… but you stumble, look around, laugh a little… and stop walking, never to walk again.

Of course not.

You keep walking.

It’s the same thing you do with your social marketing efforts.  When you create an email and you get really lame results, you never send another email.

Ugh. NO!

Send another email.  Just keep trying – this is normal… you tweak you try again.

Now that you’re in the try again mode, try this… recruit people for your email list by selling them things.

What?

Well, for example I sell personalized dog collars. Instead of running an ad for dog collars and hoping for the best…  what happens if you sell a “I love My Golden Retriever” T Shirt?  You make sure that you have a check box for your email AND you make sure you put your flier in the envelope.  You nurture this person because they like dogs!  Instead of a random ad to lots of people, you target the same people with a product and they pay to be a part of your email program.

This might sound “out there” or you might try it and trip… but it’s a core function of developing an infinity customer.  You attract people and offer products they want to buy!

Episode 700?  Is that real?  OMG… each day I write a new post, they add up… and then a milestone is reached and it catches me by surprise! But thanks for being here for episode 700.

What a great day for Episode to fall on because it’s Subject Matter Expert Day!  This is the day we discuss how to position ourselves as the “go to” person in our field.

How do we do this?

We accomplish the goal by sharing our knowledge and becoming a leader for a tribe,  Sure , credentials such as education and and experience are valuable for credibility.  It gets your foot in the door…

BUT!

The thing that makes some appreciate your credibility is your ability to share that information, to be the leader they are looking for.

When you become the leader you are trusted and it helps you with your marketing credibility.

You need to be this leader and this is why you need to share “the stuff between your ears” all that knowledge!  It’s doing you good, but when you help others you will get the feedback and questions that will help foster energy and make you amazing.

I know this starts to read like share your information to make you feel good, but the thing is… this really does happen.

You are reading this post, and I appreciate it, but when you take action based from my words and start sharing information with your own tribe… I’m not gonna lie, it makes me feel AMAZING.

What can you sell over and over and over?  This is the question you need to answer to make money.

I was visiting Disney World and came across this unique product.  I’m sharing it with you because it’s a perfect example of an infinity product.  The blank shoes are perfect “as is”.

BUT

Look at the chalkboard… you can have the shoes custom painted by an artist!

The stand is outside the store and the entire process becomes it’s own event that draws attention AND sales. The result is a cute one of a kind product.

For the store owner it’s a neat way to interact with customers and provide a custom experience without keeping a bunch of inventory of colors and designs!

I love teaching the concept of Tribeology.  When you build a tribe of loyal customers they will stick around and buy things.

Well… it is a simple process.  Honestly, it is.  You attract customers and provide information on a regular basis that they desire. This builds trust and that’s why they stick around.  It is that simple…

BUT simple doesn’t mean “without work” – you need to commit to this process and be present in your customers life.

When you are present, you become a participant in some really cool events.

Look at this post…

This couple was married on a Bennington pontoon boat, and shared the photo.  This type of customer loyalty cannot be replicated in an ad.  There’s just no way to make an ad that captures emotion like a real world wedding.

When your customers love your product so much that they include it in their wedding day, dang… you’ve put the hard work in to build a tribe!

This quote just caught my eye.  There are only 3 colors.  That sure puts a different perspective on the day you feel overwhelmed, doesn’t it?!

When your head is spinning and you have that dreaded analysis paralysis… just remember to make it simple.

Take things back to the basics – blue and yellow makes green!  Green is complicated but blue and yellow are simple.

I really like when Glen Beck did this in an example of the economy back in 2012.

“Sanity replaces insanity” by erasing the zeroes:

  • ANNUAL FAMILY INCOME: $21,700
  • MONEY THE FAMILY SPENT: $38,200
  • NEW DEBT ON THE CREDIT CARD: $16,500
  • BALANCE ON THE CREDIT CARD: $142,710
  • TOTAL BUDGET CUTS: $385″

This is easy to see, when you lose 8 zeros, that you’re in big trouble! If your household income was $21,700, and your balance on the credit card was $142,000 you’re in very big trouble!  AND when you do a budget cut of $385 you’ve cut NOTHING.

However, when the numbers are hidden by zeros — the budget cuts of 38 billion seem like an amazing savings!  But they’re not.

Remember you only have 10 digits — simplify.

Today… just simplify.  When you are overwhelmed, when you’re confused, or when you’re stuck – bring your life back to the basics.  Determine what is important and then make your decision!
