TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #577 – The Reason You Don’t Want People to Open Your Email

Quote: “If we all did the things we are capable of doing we would literally astound ourselves.” Thomas Edison

Friday: Big Money Small Change

Do you have the best intentions, but can’t find the time?  It’s like when you have an amazing idea, you think it will be great, but then “poof” the time passes.

For example, I have a brilliant idea for the Christmas holiday shopping season and next thing you know, it’s December 23rd…

OR

You want to do a welcome to summer event, and the ice doesn’t go off the lake till early May (not that I’m still bitter about that happening last year)

Here’s the deal.  You can make most things happen.  But you need a plan.  And that starts with old fashion paper and a pen.  Just brainstorm the ideas you want and the results you hope to achieve.  (the results on paper should be the motivator you need to get going)

I love using this type of plan/reward get going style when I think of my email list and the creation of content.  Not content you create on a consistent basis.  Special content… for example my booklet, The 5 C’s of the Infinity Marketing Machine.  Content that is designed to attract people to take action.

SO… using the plan/reward/ get going style… this type of booklet has a reward of growing an email list of people I’m trying to attract.  It’s hard work, but worth it when it’s finished!

NOW, here’s our “Big Money Small Idea” I got as an email from Pillsbury.

They sent out an email “Get your free gift” – it’s a download recipe cookbook.  They personalize the email and even include the day I joined their list.

Why would you want to send an email like this?

You already have someone on your list… what’s the point?

img_7348.png

You will gain engagement.  This is a big deal.

More important is the result.  You can get rid of people with dead emails or that do not engage… emails do cost money.  If you are sending out several thousand emails that are not opened, you are being charged.

SO… you might want to create a neat download and send it out to your list – you’ll find out who is engaged and ready to receive your information, build your tribe!  HOWEVER, it is also a fantastic way to clean up your list and save money!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #572 – Does Your Marketing Measure Up?

Saturday: Try This

I’ve been spending the past couple days at the Minneapolis Boat Show and I thought this was a fun marketing example to share.  Our family marina has a small display booth at the show, but, there are moments to sneak away and enjoy the show… this is what I found a break.

If you’re familiar with the RV industry, you’re familiar with “slide outs” – well, the boating industry has jumped on this trend.

There is actually a boat that expands from side to side!  It’s really neat…

You might wonder why you’d want to do this, well, if you’re at a beach it allows your to have even more space to entertain friends.

But exactly how much more space can you get?  Well, the boat expands to 14′ 6″!

How big is that?

That’s when you start to search for a reference… If you’re 5′ 8″ then it’s a little over two of you.  OR if the ceiling is 8′ high, then a little less than double… OR the fact that it starts at 8’6″ and expands to 14’6″ which is an extra 6′ and that’s the height of many people…

It’s hard to get an exact reference to how much bigger that is!

NOW… look at this banner

What a fantastic way to show exactly HOW wide your new boat can be!  There’s a real world “to scale” measuring graph at the bottom of the banner!

When you are looking at a way to demonstrate size, find a way to create a relatable way to do it.

For example…. weight loss!  If someone loses 5 lbs… get a jar and fill with marbles that weigh 5lbs, let your clients hold it!  Let them hold how much 5lbs is!

Try this!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #571 – Get Paid for Teaching People to Use Your Product

“Never stop reaching a bit further, faster, and higher.” R.Branson

Friday: Big Money Small Change

Our 5th C is Cash and it’s a fun topic to find great examples on my feeds.  This one stood out because it’s one event with a couple intertwined activities.

It’s a workshop that teaches you how to use a product – BUT, it’s got a twist.  They are promoting how to wear and use a head wrap… and it’s a workshop, however, there’s wine!  So it’s more of a party.

Here’s the twist… because it’s a workshop you buy a ticket, therefore, you make money!  Sure you’re giving away a “free” head wrap with the purchase of a ticket… but that will be built in the price of the ticket.

People are paying money to attend your workshop to learn about how to use your product by actually getting a sample of your product.

AND they’re getting to sample your vibe and since it’s fun you are at the same time building your tribe!

Brilliant!

Now it’s your turn:  THINK…What workshop/party can you host where customers will pay to attend, sample your product AND want buy more from you?

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #569 – It’s OK to Get Lost Surfing Facebook.

Quote: “Almost anything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes …including you!” Anne Lamott

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

Ready… Set… Unplug!  Well, after you finish reading this.

When you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and you just can’t think – you need a break!  Not a break of a 2 week vacation, although that would be amazing… you need a mini-break.

Just get up and clear your head.

Honestly, I think this has a lot to do why we can get lost in our Facebook feed… you know how you find one thing and pretty soon you’ve watched  puppy videos and seen at least 4 minutes of Friends bloopers.  Yeah, you know what I mean.

Then you get mad at yourself for wasting time.

Well, maybe you just needed a moment to “check out” – it’s not that you actually unplugged, but you did take a moment to rest your head…

I still recommend the getting into nature part of life.  Take a walk, breathe, and just reset – but don’t be worried if you get lost in some endless feed of America’s Got Talent… sometimes, just being proud of someone who has amazing talent is what you need for an afternoon break.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #568 – Can One Color Be Remarkable?

“We could all get a lot more done if we kept it simple.”RBranson

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Saturday happened.  It was the evening and I was thinking about the content for my upcoming newsletter for the Pontoon Girl site.  And I was blank.

It’s winter.  Not much boating going on in the winter, however, you know what I teach… you must be consistent with content.

You see… everything I talk about in the 5C’s, I do myself!  So just because I couldn’t think of anything, did not mean I could pretend my content was unimportant.  It is important.

And that brings me back to Saturday.  I was cold and there’s ice on the lake.  Hummmmmmm that got me thinking about the time I was in Alaska and saw a glacier.  A big beautiful blue glacier.

Blue, hummmm I pondered further.  Ice blue.  Ice blue drinks!  I looked on Pinterest and found great looking BLUE drinks, including hot chocolate… that was blue.  It’s named Elsa… well, I guess there’s “that” song – (Every week I choose a featured boating song) and that drew me into making a very special sweatshirt that’s blue.

You see… my normal color scheme is pink. Very girl pink…

Today’s edition is Ice Blue!

So yes one color can be remarkable!  When you have a framework… you can plug in many themes.

My framework is have an item for sale, a song, one main post, and a photo of the week… this week my theme is blue and the rest fell into place.

Use your creativity!  Even if it is just ONE color.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #563 – Turn Mundane Tasks Into Exciting Learning Opportunities

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Gandhi

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

This is definitely the type type of quote you want to print up and hang on the wall.  It’s so AMAZING.  You totally want to stand at the top of a hill, arms outstretched, sun gracing your face and you exhale.

That’s what you feel when you read this quote.

There are dreams of selling everything, moving to an island and soaking in the reggae band at the bar while drinking a ginormous drink with a huge slice of pineapple on the rim.

You want to run free in the meadow being chased by a pack of golden retriever puppies.

Don’t all of these things sound amazing!  Especially when you’re staring at your unread emails? haha

Let’s look at the second half of the quote — Learn.  Learn more. Then learn some more!

I was listening to a book as I was driving today.  I was running errands, and I HATE to run errands. It’s winter, I’m fortunate to have a warm coat, but I hate not being able to move!  UGH.  But there I was… driving to pick up stuff at 5 different places. AND I was listening to an audio book.

I was listening to a marketing book.  It’s about creating remarkable moments and how to craft them… there will probably be a post about it in the future (wink) – but today I was learning.  One example is about New Zealand and their innovation of a Sky Couch.

YIKES!

They added a foot rest to the 3 across seats.  It flips up and makes a futon.  Imagine that!  On a trip across the ocean you can lie down and NOT be in first class.  (Granted, I’d like to be in First Class)

So what does this have to do with the quote for today?  OMG.  I was doing life (mundane), learning (audio book), and living (dreaming) — all at the same time.

You can multitask anything! 🙂

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #560 – Don’t Miss this Easy Way To Share Your Vibe.

Saturday: Try This

Never miss an opportunity to share your vibe.

Email, posts, websites… these are all great places to share your mission statement or history…

BUT look at this!

T-vineyardvines.png

Vineyard Vines uses their shipping box as an opportunity to create their vibe in your home.  You open the cover and they share their story, right there, under the cover.  It opens up to look like a showpiece!

Now, it might be hard or expensive to replicate this exact style of box…

BUT that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

If you send a bill, include a small flier that shares your story, vibe, message… it’s “free” to mail something additional.

If you send a package – you can create a sticker and get a similar vibe!  Include your story in the package.

Use the same type of sticker and attach to your shopping bag.

There are endless ways to create this little bit of magic for your customers.

TRY THIS!
