Just when you think you don’t have space to display products, really you do.

This is a great example of how with a little creativity you can make space to feature a product.  Seriously, this was at a restaurant.  There was a tiny space on the countertop to the left of the cash registers.

The neat thing is this is not a “food” product its a T shirt!

They took the time to have shirts for sale and are created a display using shadow box frames.

It’s a display of the design AND a display to feature the products.  Both in a nice tight space.  They make money off of this counter space!

Take a look at your space and find the hidden treasures, meaning find the space you can put something for sale.  You don’t have to hang 40 shirts on a spinning rack — you can easily display ONE in a frame.  This idea is Amazing!

Simple. Concise. To the point.  You only get one question.

What is the one thing you really want to know about your business?  You should ask your customers!

But no one wants to fill out a long involved survey. I mean, honestly, do you want to fill out a big survey?

HECK NO

That is why this is the most genius survey machine, ever.  I saw this at the bathroom in Salt Lake City, Utah… and by the way – total Green!   Super Clean.

Anyway…

Are you satisfied with the cleanliness of the bathroom?

That’s it.

You don’t need to read the answer… it’s either red, yellow, or green.  Pretty simple to figure out yes, no, and maybe.

Do you care if the garbage cans are empty? That the soaps are full? That the sinks are clean?

NO — it’s irrelevant — you just want to know what the overall satisfaction is!  It’s pretty easy to determine if people say “red” to the cleanliness question – you’ve got to clean.

So what question can you ask at your business?

You don’t need a fancy wall information collector… you can email a ONE question survey that says it all.

Ask for an “overall satisfaction” on ONE thing… it could be friendless of front counter… speed of check out… ease of online system…

Make it so simple that filling it out gets interaction!  Remember, asking questions helps the tribe bond with you.

You want to create an email for your customers.  Easy… well, it should be.  But, you’ve got to plan.

The plan comes from coordinating it with your other messaging.  The goal is to provide your customers with information they desire… remember this is the way to build credibility by getting your customers to know, like, and trust you.

However…

You need to be respectful of their time.

What I mean by this is that you cannot bombard them with lots and lots of messages all at one time!

Well, how do you keep 5,000 people or 50 people all coordinated on their journey?

You need to plan… and plan well.  Develop your ideal journey that your emails will take.  If you start a welcome series and it runs everyday for 5 days, don’t have the customer immediately start your weekly newsletter right away.  Wait until the first Tuesday after the welcome series is completed.

See what I did?

Regardless of the day of the week the welcome series is started, your customers all funnel down to the one day of the week that your weekly newsletter is sent… THEN, all 5,000 (or 50) people are on the exact same journey!

Pretty cool, eh?

It’s the way of making your job of creating new emails… simple!

Are you struggling with a decision?  Hesitation will drive you crazy!

What makes me laugh is that we have a text code FOMO and honestly so much of hesitation comes down to FOMO!

Ask yourself, why can’t you make a decision.  Is it because you’re worried that this decision will affect another and maybe the “other” is better?  It’s not so much the analysis paralysis.  It’s just FOMO

But guess what… when you don’t make a decision you miss out on everything!

WOAH. What the heck.

YES… no decision results in nothing. You stay the course. If you wanted to stay the course you wouldn’t explore a new path in the first place… so you might as well just make the decision quick and crush it!

Go 100% in!  It’s time.

Make a decision.  Just make a decision.

When you feel frozen you’ve got to dig deep and decide.  It’s going to sound trite but a non-decision is actually a decision.

When you feel paralyzed and can’t “see up” – you can stop, analyze, and make a decision – but honestly it’s not that easy – I say… just make one.

Trust me, nothing is so dramatic that one decision on your desk will change your direction… OR will it… if you make that decision you set the wheels in motion for more change!

BUT you are in control.

I’ve had a rough week.  It’s spring which means it’s CRAZY.  While lots of people are excited over the nice warm weather – I’m on a time crunch…. we have a family marina and I’m hiring AND signing contracts for new customers.

The time is now for me.

In 6 weeks it’s too late we’ll be in the full swing of summer… so I’ve got to make decisions right now.   Here’s your take away from my situation.  In 6 weeks it’s too late.  I’ve got a BIG time deadline – but my desk is a disaster full of post-it notes.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter which comes first, there’s no prioritizing – it’s all a “do it now” situation – so just jump in and pick one.

And that’s what I’ll share with you.  Come up with your one deadline the “it’s too late after this date” and just “pick one”

As soon as you get momentum – the rest falls in place.

Yesterday I started my interview season… and it got me thinking about consistency, more specific what does consistency mean.

A great way to conduct an interview is to keep a list of questions and ask each candidate the same questions.  It helps you develop a baseline from which to compare their compatibility and find the best rise to the top.

Well… while the questions are the same, and you get the general topics covered.  That is where consistency ends.  The answers change the course of the interview wildly.

And the same happens when you provide content to your audience.

Let’s use today’s quote as your guide.  Let’s say I ask, what does the quote“If you are consistent, you will get results.” mean to you?

You will answer in a different way than I would answer.

So while the question is consistent, the answers will go all over the map.  That’s the fun of consistency in content.

This is why you need a content plan!

The content plan keeps you on track.  Think of content like buckets.  Buckets that you an fill with articles or posts.  For example I use the 5 buckets… credibility, content, consistency, customers, and cash — Each day has a topic and I write within the topic.

This consistency helps you as a reader to anticipate what “tomorrow” will bring… it’s comfortable.  It’s a surprise as to “what” the post will be, but you have comfort in understanding “why” the information is provided!

Stop and do this.

Make your broad topics.  Select 3 to 6 buckets that you know you can fill and then all you have to do is fill them!

SO make it your goal for today to pick your buckets!

Time for our Einstein moment!  🙂

So if you can’t dumb it down you’ve got a problem.  That means no matter what you are selling you’ve got to be able to explain the core essence of it in less than 20 seconds.  If you can’t do that, work on it.

Simplicity is key!

My favorite teacher from high school regularly stops by and makes sure things are going well at the boat yard.  He also works for us during the busy season.  The funny things is, had you told me that in high school, my reality would involve his friendship, I wouldn’t have believed it.  It’s funny how life works.

Well… he’s a marketing guru that does not have cable TV.

He refused to pay for cable insisting it was a fad (that’s a big of a joke, but he never could figure out why someone would pay for TV when you can get it free) – anyway… back to marketing.

As you know I’ve been taking about 4 online seminars to better my skills at this new way of marketing.  Today I showed my teacher a video. Since he doesn’t own cable TV you can imagine what his skills are at the Internet.  He doesn’t use it.

However, he understands marketing, money, and still coaches students.  So he’s willing to learn.  And that’s the important thing… it’s the reason for my topic.

You must be willing to continually learn and teach and do it with such simplicity that a 6 year old can understand.

Here’s why… the highly complex nature of how some squeeze pages, upsells, CPC, posts, and influencer marketing really boil down to product placements, ad placement, sales letters and contact cards.  It’s ALL the same just mixed with technology.

I had a fun conversation teaching my teacher.  I think I made his head spin… haha   And yes, I gave him homework!
