What can you sell over and over and over?  This is the question you need to answer to make money.

I was visiting Disney World and came across this unique product.  I’m sharing it with you because it’s a perfect example of an infinity product.  The blank shoes are perfect “as is”.

BUT

Look at the chalkboard… you can have the shoes custom painted by an artist!

The stand is outside the store and the entire process becomes it’s own event that draws attention AND sales. The result is a cute one of a kind product.

For the store owner it’s a neat way to interact with customers and provide a custom experience without keeping a bunch of inventory of colors and designs!

It’s an implied closing for the sale — as a student “wavering” on attending class or a new person wondering if they should attend… they read it and BOOM! No options, we’ll see you tonight.

The photo gives the vibe and it’s followed through on the “see you tonight” – it’s easy AND it’s a great sales pitch without actually selling!

Well done!  An excellent way to increase sales by using all the hard work you’ve done to build the tribe.

Earlier this week I talked about emotional words and yesterday I talked about putting your customer into your post… then I came across a photo I took earlier this spring.

Renting a car is kind of a mundane event.  When you travel you need to have ground transportation.  And it’s pretty easy to substitute the businesses that provide car rental…

Look what this one did to help you use the product – they used emotional words to help paint the picture of the emotion of their rental cars.

They don’t say convertible, 4 wheel drive, automatic transmission… it says scenic, fun, and family.

This is something you can do… maybe not on a wall as your back drop – but what about on your website or brochure?

Use the opportunity to share the words of the emotion of your product!

This visual Instagram post teaches a valuable lesson – you can publicize an event without actually creating a “who what when where” type of visual.

The cookies… yes, the cookies do it all for you.  I mean, don’t they look awesome?!?!  So much so that it caught my attention while I was scrolling.

Here’s what happened next… I needed to know if this was a cookie company or what the heck it is… it’s actually a company that creates ice skating costumes!  The cookies will be given away at their table at a flea market.

NEAT!

You get to know that YOU can have the cookies by visiting their special event.  It’s a very creative way to get all of the details to your customers without being predictable. It’s a great way to stop people in their tracks.

This is a great way to get a big money impact with a small money change!

Yesterday I went to the eye Doctor… the fun part of the trip was trying on frames.  The funny part is that OP currently has 80s style sun glasses… it’s like a blast from the past.  A warm friendly blast.

That got me thinking of old commercials, mainly because they used an old magazine ad to promote their new line of frames.

Anyway…

Do you remember the “Rinse and Repeat” commercial for shampoo?  Even if you don’t remember the original airing, its one of those brilliant moments in marketing that’s been studied and taught ever since the 80s.

The woman gets done washing her hair, rinses her hair, then repeats the process… thus, using more of the product, and causing larger consumption.

Well, the rinse and repeat also works for Infinity Products.  The over and over characteristic is what we are striving for in our business.

Sure… we have our regular “main” product – but I’m going out on a limb and saying… YOU NEED a profit center that is a “rinse and repeat” Infinity Product.  Something that has no upper limit that you can easily replicate.

Especially if you have a small footprint you’re working in… you need to maximize your available space!

For example, if you have visitors… let’s say in a resort… souvenirs are amazing.  T shirts are hot sellers.  BUT, it’s hard to have many designs and keep lots of sizes… what happens if you buy a heat press, design transfers, and white T shirts and then make on demand?!  You eliminate LOTS of inventory space but still give your guests what they want to buy!

An Infinity Product can also be something like a gym/club membership.  Is there something in your business that you can market or create that gives a club atmosphere that people will pay for?

Here’s the fun part… you may be thinking physical “real world” club… but how about an online “VIP” club where you form a private Facebook Group and you host weekly information sessions, etc… what CAN you do that will allow you to create another profit center with steady monthly income?

We started a boat club about 10 years ago as our Infinity Product… it’s worked great we buy a boat, well a fleet of them, and sell memberships for seasonal use.  It allows us to maximize our space and increase our profits.

Start thinking infinity!  Repeat. Start thinking infinity! Repeat.

There is a way to create an infinity product at your business.

Oh this will be fun.

Your customer walks in the store, they’re hungry.  You sell hotdogs.  Which will generate the higher sales… focusing on the satisfying the customer’s hunger or telling them how the hotdog is made?

hahahaha

I couldn’t resist that!

However, let’s keep this very short and simple example in our heads as we create our story about our product.

YES… you need to create a story.  At our family marina we have a great service where the customer’s boat is kept in our warehouse and with a one hours notice we put the boat in the lake “valet style”.    This sells the features of the service.  The benefits are that the boat stays clean and it is safe from wave damage in the storms.  Well, both of these tactics, features/benefits are helpful… it’s the story that, “all you do is pack your cooler and hit the waves” that’s feeding the customer’s desire.

We could tell the customer it’s convenient or easy… but letting them do the work of imagining a sunny day, packing a cooler with ice, food, and drinks, and leaving shore is what will sell THEM on the service.

Allowing the customer to jump into the story, meaning they visualize them selves in the story is much more effective than telling them how the hot dog is made.

This style of story marketing also helps with your tribe building… why? Well, you are teaching customers HOW they will be able to use your product.  So from before “day one” they begin to trust you.
