Grab your free gift: The 5 C’s of the Infinity Marketing Machine

Saturday: Try This

Are you in business for a “reason”?

You may see that question and say, “of course”.  I don’t want to work for someone, I have a passion for my product or service… the list goes on and on.

But is there a bigger why.  Look at this package of dog treats…

“This bag gives to shelter dogs” that’s the most important message on the package.  Sure it’s the Campfire Feast… but when you buy, is it because it’s campfire flavored dog treats or is it because you want to help shelter dog?

Most likely to help the shelter dogs.

This is important because if you are passionate about a “why” then use this dog treat bag as a role model.  They have positioned their “why” as the focal point of the business.

Now… I didn’t buy the bag, I simply took a photo, therefore, I’m not sure how much they give to shelter dogs… or what they give… but the message of giving is special.

This type of messaging is wonderful for attracting and growing your tribe, people who like the WHY are very loyal.

Try This.

“Positive expectations are the mark of the superior personality.”

Monday: Subject Matter Expert

You must let people know what to expect from you so that they will understand what they are getting when they hire you!  This is the reason you MUST share your why.

The best place to share your “why” is on your About Me page.  Seriously, I’m a believer in sharing your awards, titles, and accolades.  I think this is crucial.

However… what is your why?

WHY are you doing what ever it is from the time you get up till you go to sleep… meaning what the heck makes you YOU?

Our entire goal with Tribeology is to transform our customers from “one and done” to sticking with us until “Infinity” this is ONLY accomplished when the customer knows, likes, and trusts you…

In other words… to know, like, and trust you – they must KNOW you.  You’ve got to share your “why” – this is somewhat unnerving.  After all, if I say, “I’m a chocolate chip cookie expert that loves walking my chubby doodle named Mr. Pancake” are you going to want to read my blog?

Here’s the deal… if you think it’s strange, you are not a good fit for my blog.  I may have won the Best Profit Center Competition two times and increased revenue by $100,000 in 15 weeks at our family business… however, knowing that my dog is overweight and I’m obsessed with chocolate chip cookies, just might be strange to you – therefore, you will not be comfortable in my vibe, and never mesh with my tribe.

Remember, in addition to awards and accomplishments, make sure to share your personality in your About Me sections because the goal is to ATTRACT your ideal clients… because if we are not specific about who we are attracting, we will attract no one.

That’s true!

So… today… go and share the wonder and joy that is you!  Rewrite your About Me like you sat down next to someone at lunch you’ve never met and tell them who you are… first person, conversation style, and yes… you can humble brag.

Sunday – Week in Review – Episode #471 – Your Proof is Your Proof.

“Don’t brag about your work. Let your success speak for itself”

Monday: Character

Here’s a question to ponder… how do you brag without bragging?

I picked up Mr. Pancake at the doggie daycare and I realized something… they’re really good at what they do.  This particular day care is probably one of the best in the country.  The woman who started it was a VP of a major hotel chain, but always wanted to create a country club for dog… thus a pretty amazing dog care.

You know how I know… Mr. Pancake is STILL tired.  yea!!!!

On Monday’s we talk about Subject Matter Expert and showcasing your credibility to build trust with your customers via Character… the first C of the Infinity Marketing Machine.

Well…Here’s what happens when you walk into the doggy day care.  You see hundreds of photos of individual dogs in their swimming pool.  The photos are in frames all over the main reception area.

This type of humble brag shows testimonials of those that can’t speak.  The photos show dogs simply enjoying themselves in the beautiful clean water of their pool.

The pool is their showcase.

Another feature of this doggy daycare is their reception area.  Yes, it’s complete with a front desk and gift shop.  The merchandise is for the women.  It’s a boutique.  Not a dog bone to be purchased… well there were bone shaped throw pillows.

Knowing the back story that the owner came from the hotel industry is proven with the aspects of the reservation desk, gift store and “check in”/”check out” hours.  This is all bragging about the credibility of the service you’ll receive.

You see… sometimes your proof is you actually doing.

Let’s say you own a wedding planning business and your degree is accounting.  Your credibility is proven by having error free accurate bills.  If you send out delayed bills or bills with errors, it does translate to the rest of your business, especially if you are a classically trained accounting major.  This means you must be good at weddings and accounting!

Traditionally I talk about enhancing your Linked In Profile or other social media platforms to increase your social proof.  Today I thought it would be worth a reminder that your character is defined via your follow through.  Letting your success speak for itself is a great way to brag without bragging.  It’s your brand!

Tomorrow… come back for my episode on “Content and Consistency”!
PS:  Like my vibe? I want you to join my tribe! start here – Episode 442 – Cross the Bridge!

“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

I love motivational quotes.  I think when you find a good one it can turn your day around.

Actually, it can turn around your entire path!

Today’s is a great quote… let’s read again, “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”

On the surface you learn to be hard working and not take short cuts.

Well don’t take a short cut to “any place worth going”.  Hummmm.  Let me tell you something… there’s a great restaurant in Australia on the “other side” of the bridge.  It’s an amazing little breakfast spot…right next to the Sydney Harbor Bridge!

NOW… there’s also a great little restaurant in Wooloomooloo that’s on the “other… other side” of the bridge.  So if both are worth going to, and there’s a bridge, is the quote saying, you should go to both, but don’t take the short cut of the bridge.  You should swim?  I mean that’s the true “non short cut” way to get to both restaurants, after all, taking a boat or ferry is a short cut, right?!?!

SO, what on earth does this have to do with content and consistency?

Sometimes amazing content is stuff written by someone else!  You can share a link to an article written by someone else.  It’s a short cut, but it still puts your tribe first IF the content is amazing and something they find useful.

Same holds true for a video!

Same for a photo or an infographic!

Don’t get stuck in the mindset that the only way to create amazing content is by putting your nose to the grind and authoring every piece you share.  It’s OK to share things other people have created, especially “things” your tribe would find awesome.

Last week I was “wasting” time on Facebook and there was a great video of the three members of team USA for baton twirling doing a trick called an “elbow pop” – basically you pop the baton off your elbow, over and over and over!  They are not easy, they hurt, you bruise yourself, but they look super duper easy!  BUT THEY’RE NOT!

Alright, the 3 ladies posted a video goofing off with the “elbow pop” in slow motion… I re-posted on my Facebook Baton Page… and it was shared by my followers 25 times!  It received over 19,000 views.

I did not create the video – I simply shared it.   In essence, this was my “short cut” to content creation, my bridge!  The word “creation” has a very big spectrum in regards to online content.

REMEMBER, content creation is information your tribe will appreciate, engage with, and thrive from receiving.

YES, you still need a schedule to post consistently – but relax and don’t look at it as cheating if you “share” something someone else created.

A word of caution… do not use this method as a substitution for your own creation, but, don’t be afraid of a “short cut” now and again!

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” Albert Einstein

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Have you ever looked at your lawn only to see a bunch of dandelions… and you just spent a bunch of time and money spraying weed killer?  Ugh. The total frustration!

Think about a dandelion, it’s easily recognizable, you know you hate it.  But do you remember as a child picking a bouquet of them and putting them in water?  How many times do you remember making a wish and blowing the puffy white seeds into the sky (and your lawn)?  This is one tricky weed.  We hate it, and yet there’s a certain romanticism associated with it.

It sure does have a great story associated with it!

When you create content for your followers, you should think of it like a dandelion, not the weed… but the wish!  You want people to see your article or post as useful.

Sure, children pick the yellow “flowers” but when the “flower” transforms into the wish-maker game, it’s hard to resist, because it’s valuable!

If you woke up today, thought… ugh, I should post something… then got distracted and read my blog (thank you for reading) – NOW you have a purpose to your “post something” problem.

Quit striving to simply be successful in “posting”.  Instead strive to create a post of value.  Tell your followers how to do something, teach them a new “thing”, create an FAQ list, give them a top 3… but do something that they will find valuable.

Today, be the “wish maker” portion of the dandelion!

 – Day 37 – Messages and Customers

“Are you sure that a floor can’t also be a ceiling?” MC Escher

Just like the inspiration states… the same thing can have two functions!  Social media is exactly this situation.

You can create messages for customers or customers for messages.  It’s fun, because the line is blurred between the two.

Clearly you’re already in business so you have customers.  That makes it pretty easy to create the first part of the saying…

You most likely has social media sites that generate potential customers, so that’s the second part of the site.

Now just blend them together.

You are generating messages that your group of customers what to hear!  These are BOTH customers that engage with you on social media and those that have already engaged with you enough to share their email with you!

These messages are full of information they want to receive.

When you provide this information you build trust, when they trust you, the customers become a tribe.  When they are a tribe, you start to share new products they want… and that’s when you make money!

That means your Infinity Marketing Machine is not just a series of emails and it’s not just posting on Facebook.  That’s what you’re already doing.

An Infinity Marketing Machine is a system of strategic communications designed to build a tribe.

Cool Eh?

Tomorrow come back and we’ll learn about the 5 C’s of the Infinity Marketing Machine!

Until then… join my group!  start here – Day 16 – Focus!

“I fear not the man who practiced 10,000 kicks, but I do fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” Bruce Lee

Just focus.

I’ve used this answer more than once when it comes to a discussion of social media.

Last week I was interviewed for a magazine article about marketing.  And often people will ask, “how did you make over $100,000 in just 15 weeks?” – My answer is, I focused.  It’s how I created the Infinity Marketing Machine.

You need to take your efforts and really streamline what you are doing.

Last summer I set out to try what I thought would be a great path by using email and remaining in constant contact with our customers… and it worked better than I thought.

This really happened because I concentrated my effort on email.  I still use Facebook, but I stopped the 99 other things I was doing, from Twitter to Pinterest.  The real results come with you can build a tribe of loyal customers.

In fact… when you do this you will become unstoppable.

Just remember… email and Facebook worked for my niche – for you it might be YouTube and Pinterest.

Find the platform and focus.

Master your one kick!
