Yesterday I received the highest compliment I could receive…. I was called quirky!   YEA.  I received an unsolicited email from a new customer at my PontoonGirl.com website.

I started this site about a month ago and I’m using the principles of Tribeology to shape and grow it.  My goal is to create a vibe where women who love their pontoon boat can hang out and enjoy the social aspects of it with other “Pontoon Girls”.  This includes entertaining ideas and lots and lots of memory making.

Well, this nice lady sent a thank you email addressing the bag she bought. She went on to… and here’s where I #humblebrag, she went on to tell me she the website is “fun, quirky, informative” and she loves all the boutique items for sale.

DANG!

I could live off that compliment for weeks… well two months… thank you Mark Twain.

My point is this, I did not set out to be quirky – but me, my personality is quirky!  I love to surprise people with odd and random things, therefore, the best part of my tribe is that they enjoy quirky things, too!

Use your personality to it’s fullest advantage and I hope you also receive emails like this, because, darn it – they rock! 🙂

Monday: Subject Matter Expert

Are you an expert?  Answer this… are you an expert?  If you answered, “no” then what are you doing in your business?

The way you build a tribe is to become the leader.  You must be the vibe behind your tribe, however, this does not mean you sit among your tribe and emit a vibe… you’ve got to get out in front and lead!

As the leader, I hate to break it to you, but you are the expert!

This is the only way this whole “tribeology thing” works… you must build a tribe and you must be the leader.

The way you can do this is through your own success with awards, honors, titles, education, experience and knowledge.  BUT, keeping it a secret will not help you lead.

Get your “leadership resume” on your Linked In, website, blog, and other social media platforms.  Do this by building up your “about me” sections!

This is the easiest and most impactful way to show others you are the one they need to “follow”.

Let’s get to this today!  Brainstorm on a paper ALL of the things that make you the best leader of your tribe… and then go to the “about me” sections and enhance, enhance, enhance!  This should take you 15 minutes.  You’ve got 15 minutes, right?
