Tribeology.com – Episode #526 – How Do You Level Up Consistency?

Grab Your Free Gift: The 5 C’s of the Infinity Marketing Machine

“Appearances make impressions, but it’s the personality that makes an impact.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

I just spent about 20 minutes looking through the Vineyard Vines Christmas Catalog.  How is that possible? Because it’s an enjoyable experience… that’s how!

OK.  I’ll admit. I love the clothes.

But I’d love it if you got on their mailing list to take a look at how they use their brand to form a tribe.

It starts with their pink whale.  The pink whale that they are not afraid to dress up in different patterns and outfits.  I’m referring to their logo… On the T shirt page it has the hockey whale next to Hawaiian shirt wearing whale.  It might seem like a strange contrast of hobbies for December… but it works.

Their vibe is the “Good Life” with their emphasis on sports and travel.

Here’s a fun twist to their catalog they regularly use their own staff as models.  Sure you’ll have the professional pretty people in the size zero clothes… but on the next page are the girls from marketing with a pineapple drink in their hand, or the guy from creative climbing a palm tree.  They are wearing the clothes they sell, but more important their tribe is getting a “behind the scenes” view of the company.

A final observation is the page with the heavy fleece pull overs and the description, “we can’t even begin to explain how soft this is… you’ll just have to feel it for yourself.” – It’s not soft like puppies on a cloud… it’s “you’ll have to feel it for yourself” that’s bold.  And you know what… I do want to feel it for myself!  haha

I’m mentioning this catalog as a mentor to your tribe building skill.  Look up their website and study what their vibe is all about.

YES it’s Tuesday and we need to create consistent content.  We need to show up at regular intervals in our followers email or social media feeds.

BUT MORE IMPORTANT

Let’s reread today’s inspiration: “Appearances make impressions, but it’s the personality that makes an impact.”   Show your personality!  It is what makes an impact.

Use “Content and Consistency” as your tool to share your VIBE!

“Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits.”

Friday: Big Money Small Change

Do you want to make money while you sleep?  This is the best thing ever.  When you wake up, check your email, and find that you have an order!

This is not new.

Prior to email… we used to walk to our mail box and see envelopes with checks.  Remember the informercial (before they were called informercials) you can make money while you sleep with one small ad!  I know you remember.  Then all you had to do was send in a couple dollars to find out the secret which was placing small classified ads in newspapers around the country.

Now with the internet, this doesn’t seem like a big deal.  But it was a HUGE deal back in the day, this kit included addresses of all newspapers across the country!  (not that I ever bought one of these packets)

OK, I’ll admit it.  I have a rule.  I can write down the 800 number (or nowadays, the website) but I cannot buy anything until morning.  OH my… someone is going to have to ban me from buying things on Instagram. Same thing, the ads are sooooooo enticing!

But back to the make money while you sleep.

Here’s the spin.  How about making “big money” over and over and over.

This is the new goal for a small business.  You need to learn to create an Infinity Product.  This is a product that has no upper limit. It rejuvenates itself.  For example, a downloadable book!  You create it once, and sell it again and again.

The reason I mention it is because it’s fun with something like this sells… you can check out my Best and Simple Social Media Planner that I sell on Etsy.  I love when it sells.  It inspires me to pass this message on to you all!  Work on your Infinity Products… yes, make more than one!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 478 – Keep Writing. Just Keep Writing.

“Just because you can’t measure it doesn’t mean it’s not real”

Tuesday: Content & Consistency

If you can’t measure it if you can’t manage it.  Yeah… that’s true and yet it’s not. There are times I create content and I wonder if anyone is reading it.

Most recently was our newsletter, TonkaThursday.

We have been creating this for a little over a year.  And you can monitor open rates and you can monitor how many are on your subscription list… but it’s hard to monitor it’s impact.

This newsletter is not about our marina, it’s about activities in our surrounding area.  The festivals and gatherings are emphasized. We rarely put information about our marina in the newsletter, other than on the masthead.

SO… is it effective?

Well, yesterday a customer stopped in our store and signed up for Winter Storage.  He was getting ready to leave the state for the winter.  He said, “will I still get TonkaThursday”?  He went on to say that many times he and his wife would look at it to find out what to do over the weekend.

It’s hard to monitor effectiveness of the publication, but one customer, leaving the state, is looking to stay connected with the area… so much so that he stopped in to make sure of it!

This is the best feeling of all!  It’s the reason we work so hard on creating content for our Infinity Marketing Machines.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 467 – Make a Change!

Reset. Readjust. Restart. Refocus. As many times as you need to…

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

The all important question… when to cut bait.  Well, some might say when to cut your losses, but I’m from the marina industry – we relate everything to the waters!

I’m not sure when is as important as actually doing it.

Think about playing a slot machine.  You’ve put quarter after quarter in the machine… and nothing.  But that next time, that next time… that’s the one… that could hit big.

It doesn’t.

When do you get up from your chair?

This is why I say, “when” isn’t as important as actually taking action.

Just like today’s inspiration says, “Reset. Readjust. Restart. Refocus. As many times as you need to…”

AS MANY TIMES AS YOU NEED TO!

Don’t be afraid of changing your course too soon… or that someone will think “bad” of you… just do it.  If something is not working, make a change.

BTW:  You might notice some things are changing on this blog and on my website.  They are getting a little makeover this week. (I got bored… and now I’ve gotten creative)

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode#458 – Sell Air.

Saturday: Try This!

Can you charge extra for air?

Yesterday I received a box from Amazon.  Inside was the ink cartridge I ordered… and air pillows.

OK, I have no idea what they’re called.  Not bubble wrap… but those large pillows of air trapped in plastic that are no fun to pop.

Well, I was in the middle of stabbing them and realized my dad needed packing material for a box he was shipping… oops.

Well… I said, I can get some duct tape and blow them up.  Air is free!  He was not happy with me.  (one of the joys of working with family).  But…. it got me to thinking of a visit to a grocery store in Florida.

There was a great display area right by the entrance.  It was full of rafts and inner tubes… inflated!

What’s better than buying a tube?  Buying an inflated tube!  If you are fortunate enough to have a few moments to jump in the pool, do you want to spend any time inflating the raft?

Heck no!

But… it’s beyond exciting to grab your raft, cram it in your car, go home and float!

You know what I thought was exciting…???  They charged $2.00 more for the inflated version.  So amazingly cool.

Alrightie

How can you use this idea, especially if you don’t sell inner tubes?  Think about the stuff you sell.  What do you sell that requires assembly… assemble it!

PS:  Don’t forget to charge for the air… or assembly!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 457 – Ask for the Sale.

“Chase the vision, not the money. The money will end up following you.” Tony Hsieh

Friday: Big Money Small Change

Sometimes the best advice is the most obvious.

When you are trying to make more money… ask for the sale!  Today I was on the phone trying to sign up someone for our winter boat storage.  I finished my pitch… there was a pause… I said, “would you like to sign up?” and the answer was, yes!

Normally our customers “think about it” and call back… but it’s a good reminder to just ask.

Now here’s a fun little tid bit, the equivalent online is your call to action.

Just like your phone conversation or letter in the mail… ever leave your post or email without a call to action. Consider it your opportunity to “ask for the sale.”

Your call to action might be your “buy here” button – but again… don’t simply leave it up to the text on the button.

Set the stage.  Even something like, “Imagine your life in 5 years if you buy ____” gear it toward your situation, but do something that helps your customer “hear” your suggestion.

It seems silly to mention “The Next Step” but it’s often overlooked!

Here’s my next step for you… today – create a post where you have a “next step” don’t want to make a post — then do it in your phone call.  See what happens!

Worked for me… 🙂
