What’s happening?  I wish there was a sign so I could find out!

I saw this sign at Disney and thought, with all the technology around, this is pretty cool – an old schools sign.

This was in the lobby and it’s attractive and movable AND informative. It helps to, guess what… build a tribe among the guests!  YES a hotel of 500 rooms certainly needs to create a tribe.  The challenge is, everyday their tribe changes.  BUT, one sign like this is an opportunity to provide activities that support the vibe!

 

You’ll notice that this hotel is a “nautical” theme by sailor Mickey on the sign.  Again, vibe behind the tribe.

So how can you do this?  You’re not a hotel…

Well, if you have download PDF’s online, do they have design layouts that also support your vibe?  Do you have a “schedule” of events that you can share… you may be thinking “arts and crafts” like in the photo… But imagine laying out your next month of “soup of the day”

There are lots of things you already know are coming next, but your customers don’t… so keep them in the loop and build the excitement of your vibe!

Let’s Kick Ass!  I could say “kick butt” but I thought you’d all appreciate a little rough and tumble speak.

I changed the key word to butt for my baton group.  But regardless of the word, the sentiment remains the same.  Get up, take action, and do it again.

When it comes to our customers we want to get up, take action, and do it again.  We devote Tuesday to our Content and Consistency topic which helps us provide information for our customers that will build loyalty and transform them into a cohesive tribe.

So then what… you’ve got a tribe…

Well, don’t end up in the “friends zone”.  Gosh, I crack myself up with these analogizes but sometimes they are soooooo perfect.

You are in business to make money. But, tribeology cautions you to provide information and focus on loyalty and trust… so how do you get someone to be an infinity customer?  You have to offer items they want to buy!

Think about your tribe and share product offerings as you would sitting at the kitchen table talking to a friend.  If your friend would sitting there, you wouldn’t start rambling the features of the product, you’d talk about how it benefited you.

Focus on the benefits, successes, or how it changed YOUR life. As I say, products you OFFER to your tribe… not products you SELL to your tribe.

When you have your “kick ass” moment… learn from it… and repeat!  Be careful not to end up in the Friends Zone.

Episode #265 – What’s Your Elevator Speech?

It’s Saturday – that means it’s “try this” for our daily blog post!  So here’s the question, “Who has spare time?”  If you’re laughing… how about your customers in an elevator or your customers in a restroom!  What are you doing to engage their spare time?

It’s funny that in a world where our attention is so distracted we still have a few areas of massive “spare time” — I was thinking about this as I read the weather forecast for the town I was vacationing in…

Each day I read that bulletin.  It was great, well, the first time.

By day 5 of my stay I started to wonder if they would ever change the information. So there’s your cautionary tale.  If you have a captive audience – such as an elevator.  Use this “spare time” as a great opportunity to engage your guests… BUT… make sure to switch up the message regularly.  I mean daily.

Imagine if they had included a “special of the day” in their gift store.  Honestly, a hotel only need 7 specials… most people who are not there more than the 7 days. This would be so easy!  Give guests something fun like the weather forecast but also include a daily special, tip of the day – I mean, this is the Ultimate Elevator Speech!
