Thursday: Infinity Customer

The fourth “C” of the Infinity Marketing Machine is Customer, more specifically Infinity Customer. This is a person that joins your tribe and stays.  They are very loyal and purchase items “over and over and over”.  We like Infinity Customers.

Now… the thing to keep in mind is this… Your Infinity Customer can leave at any time, so don’t neglect your relationship.

It’s important that the information you provide is useful… but the other thing that is important is that you provide items they want to buy!

I was looking on Pinterest a couple days ago and came across this!

Can you see why this is important for us to study?

This is an Infinity Product!  Remember, the infinity product is one that can be replicated over and over.  But I really like this because it’s niche based.  If you had a business of nerds as your base.  This is your product!

T Shirts for science loving introverts that apparently don’t like pants.  haha

But look at the significance.  It’s a gray shirt with different words under a common theme that is niche based.


Learn from this product – because as you want to make money and seek that $1/per month per person on your email list, the infinity product is critical to your success.

Next Step… sit down and brainstorm your niche and the type of product that is desired from your group, then provide it!  If needed, throw them a nerd party!

I love when fun things pop up on my Facebook feed.   This one just arrived and I just needed to share it with you.

It’s the perfect example of what you can and should do with your social media.

Do you like going to the dentist?  Well… read this post!  It’s not about tooth cleaning, or root canals, or even cosmetic care.

It’s about the personal relationship a dentist and a long term client have.


Wouldn’t you want to be so excited to visit your dentist that you planned your visit by picking the ugliest tie you owned… AND have your dentist play along by also wearing an ugly tie?

What a fun business!

Learn from this post – it’s a brilliant way to feed the top of your Infinity Marketing Machine. You create posts like this that showcase your infinity customer without saying — this is John, he has been coming to our office for X number of years, look at his smile.  NO!  They tell an interesting story about how much a customer enjoys coming to their office.

You can do this, too!   It’s a small change in the way you frame a message that will bring bring long term relationships…and that means big money!

Your customers need you!  Well… don’t they?

If you can’t answer this with solid “yes” you better find a way to make your presence a little stronger.

Notice how I said make your “presence” known and not make your “product” known?!

If you are relying on the strength of your product you will always be a “one and done” when you adopt the Infinity Marketing Machine you will move toward “infinity”.

This infinity mindset is created through consistent content that your customers desire…THIS makes them a tribe. It turns them from a group of customers into loyal raving fans.

And it is at this time that they desire what you have to say.  Usually it’s interesting information that is relevant to them.  It might be a product that is super helpful to them… but ultimately it’s about them!

And you know what?

If you forget to send something (or it ends up in their junk box) they miss you!  They look for your email you matter in their life!

You want to matter!  When you matter your emails are opened.  Sure, you and boast that you have an email list of 3 billigion people, but if only2 open your message, what’s the point.  Now… if you have an email list of 25 and 22 open your message, that’s a big deal.

You’ll have better success, on your journey to infinity, if you focus on your presence.  Strive to matter!   This journey to infinity is your way to control your destiny.  What an awesome deal – you get control over your future by impacting and making a difference in your followers lives! – Episode 414 – Freaks and Scoundrels

Thursday: Infinity Customer

If you work face-to-face with customers… today’s inspiration is for you!

Today I achieved an all time new low in customer behavior.  Are you ready…

As a reminder we’re a marina.  One of the services we provide are pontoon boat rentals.

So here goes…

A woman rented a pontoon boat. She did not order a ladder. She did not pay for a ladder. She did not ask for a ladder. She signed paper work that declined a ladder.  She left the dock.  It was 64 degrees, windy, cloudy, and we had three downpours, 5 of 9 boats opted for rain checks… so it was terrible “swimming” weather.

About an hour later she came back to the dock, she walked into the store, and said “I want a ladder but I’m not paying for it”  When asked, “why?” -her answer, well, in the “real world” you don’t have to pay, we left the dock there wasn’t a ladder and we were inconvenienced to have to come back to get one, therefore we don’t have to pay.

So now in the “real world” if you simply play ignorant and scam systems, and you get things for free.  If that’s the “real world”, I want nothing to do with it.  She was very upset that she didn’t get her way.  She paid.  (so did we… with her swearing… lots of swearing… etc).

How does this affect you?

Well, we need to reevaluate our avatar – you know… our ideal customer profile.

See… me personally… I want customers that pay. I’m not into this “real world” crap.   I guarantee somewhere in her closet she owns an “adulting is hard” shirt. haha.  But honestly, I do not want people like her anywhere near me or my staff.  At 12:30pm today, my biggest wish was that it magically would be 8pm and we could lock the door.

So instead of locking your door – Quit attracting nonsense!

You need to strategically find customers that align with your business policies and practices.  And you know what that means…?  You must understand what you will and won’t tolerate.

I do not tolerate “free”.   Just like you do not get to eat the entire meal then complain it sucked.  In my store, you don’t get to “complain” that you wanted a ladder when your signature is one inch away from your declining a ladder on a contract!

Business are designed to serve customers.  But that does not mean you have to spend your time “serving” scoundrels and scammers.  When you take control and create an avatar of your ideal customer, your life will improve greatly…

We have an avatar… but I guess I’ll have to reevaluate our policies (and pricing) because it appears that a few freaks decide to join us! (roll eyes)

Thursday is our day to focus on Infinity Customers – these are the people we want around for a long long time.  That means creating your ideal customer avatar is super duper important…  my first recommendation for your “must have” list is… customers that pay!!!!

Here we go!  We’ve made it to the 5th C – Cash!

You’ve got a business… you want cash.  So let’s get to it.

Yesterday I used a beach ball example.  You sell beach balls and that’s it.  One and done… but then you collect emails and in your weekly newsletter you’re able to market other products like pails/shovels, beach towels, and suntan lotion.  This keeps customers coming back over and over, thus infinity.

Now… when you’re really ready to explore some fun… what happens if you keep going and build a database of your customers.  You start to categorize those that buy  pails/shovels.  It’s a pretty good assumption that this group has children.  Now what happens if you sell bikinis or swim trunks.  You also have an idea of mens and womens clothing preferences.  These are two very simple examples.

But how can this help?

Why do you have to limit yourself at selling beach items? You don’t.  And this is the infinity part of the Infinity Marketing Machine.  When you develop affiliate relationships you have the opportunity to sell products that you don’t carry.

Your first responsibility is to build the relationship and trust with your tribe.  But as you write your newsletter you can include affiliate products that are geared to a targeted portion of your audience.

When you categorize bikinis from swim trunks from pails/shovels you can suggest products for kids, men, and women to the correct target audience!  It doesn’t cost anything extra because you’re already sending the email newsletter AND you don’t have to carry inventory!

So that’s your biggest tip of the day – categorize your database based on the things they buy!  That way you can always sell more!

However, just like planting a crop, you can only sell more when you do the work to create your Infinity Marketing Machine.

Today’s inspiration might seem a little confusing.  We want customers satisfied… right?

Yes we do.

But more than satisfied customers, we want loyal customers.

This is where the Infinity Marketing Machine steps in.  The complete purpose of building an Infinity Marketing Machine is to turn customers from one and done into Infinity Customers.  An Infinity Customer is a loyal customer.

And that’s today’s topic, the 4th C of the Infinity Marketing Machine, “Customers”.

Here’s why… Pretend you have an online store.  Alright, some of you might already have one… but for those that don’t – just pretend!

You sell inflatable beach balls.  They’re normal.  Nothing too exciting about them… but they’re fun.  Some people that buy them also buy shovels and buckets.  That’s it.  At the end of the day, you take your orders, pack the orders, and send them out.

Now imagine if you created an email list that celebrated stuff to do at the beach. The names you have are generated from your beach ball list.   Every day you sent out an email that showed the temperature of the water, the winds, or heat index.  You talked about the festivals in town… people liked the information and subscribed – they told their friends and more people joined.  You have created a consistent and content rich email that your beach visitors love!  In your email you start to include a product of the day – maybe a beach towel, or inflatable, or sunscreen…   but people by from you.

They keep coming back!

You have created an Infinity Customer.  You have turned the beach ball from one and done into infinity with the towel or sunscreen ads in your newsletter!

This is the goal of the Infinity Marketing Machine… Turn “one and done” into Infinity!

Episode #365 – Get It, Got It, Good.

“Surround yourself with people who get it.”

I’m glad you’re here and ready to make a difference in your customer’s day!  Notice I typed, “day” not life.  Your responsibility is to make a difference on a daily basis, each day that you have the relationship.

This is how the Infinity Marketing Machine differs from advertising.  You are not here to buy an ad you are here to build a relationship.  This requires you to make the commitment to provide information your customer wants to receive.

That sounds like an easy and straight forward task… yet, in practice… it’s a little more difficult.  You have much to do with your business.  Every day you do hundreds of tasks to keep the business going, everything from ordering inventory to emptying garbage cans.  Whatever it takes to make your business function you do!

Therefore, creating a basic task like the Infinity Marketing Machine’s content creation task, seems easy — but for some reason all of a sudden you realize it’s the day you need to post and BOOM you’ve got nothing!  I’ve done this too… I realize, “crap I need to post today.”

How about this…

You are creating a tribe, the tribe loves your product or service and really likes you… they are actively choosing you… therefore, you need to choose them back!  This happens when you create information they want to read and consume.  So it’s not about creating a post for the heck of posting, this is about sharing information with a group of people that think you’re rockstar cool!

When you surround yourself with people that “get it” meaning “get you” it becomes much easier to give them the information they crave.

Your desired outcome is to create a pool of customers, Infinity Customers, that are ready and willing to travel your business journey.  You are not alone and you have people cheering you on… as long as you share your journey with them!  Therefore, don’t keep your information a secret.  Create a bond by making the commitment to your tribe and giving them what they want… connection to you!
