Episode #365 – Get It, Got It, Good.

“Surround yourself with people who get it.”

I’m glad you’re here and ready to make a difference in your customer’s day!  Notice I typed, “day” not life.  Your responsibility is to make a difference on a daily basis, each day that you have the relationship.

This is how the Infinity Marketing Machine differs from advertising.  You are not here to buy an ad you are here to build a relationship.  This requires you to make the commitment to provide information your customer wants to receive.

That sounds like an easy and straight forward task… yet, in practice… it’s a little more difficult.  You have much to do with your business.  Every day you do hundreds of tasks to keep the business going, everything from ordering inventory to emptying garbage cans.  Whatever it takes to make your business function you do!

Therefore, creating a basic task like the Infinity Marketing Machine’s content creation task, seems easy — but for some reason all of a sudden you realize it’s the day you need to post and BOOM you’ve got nothing!  I’ve done this too… I realize, “crap I need to post today.”

How about this…

You are creating a tribe, the tribe loves your product or service and really likes you… they are actively choosing you… therefore, you need to choose them back!  This happens when you create information they want to read and consume.  So it’s not about creating a post for the heck of posting, this is about sharing information with a group of people that think you’re rockstar cool!

When you surround yourself with people that “get it” meaning “get you” it becomes much easier to give them the information they crave.

Your desired outcome is to create a pool of customers, Infinity Customers, that are ready and willing to travel your business journey.  You are not alone and you have people cheering you on… as long as you share your journey with them!  Therefore, don’t keep your information a secret.  Create a bond by making the commitment to your tribe and giving them what they want… connection to you!

Episode #359 – The Why Behind the Buy

Focus on “…branding the customer experience, not just selling the service.” John Sculley

What’s fun about automatic transmission.  Nothing.  What’s fun about the wind in your hair and Jimmy Buffet on the radio.  Everything.

This is a car.  It happens to be a convertible.  But selling the car as mode of transportation, although accurate, misses the experience of the product!

The same holds for your services.  If you sell that you teach gymnastics to middle school girls you are factually accurate, however, is that what your customers are seeking?  Your customers are seeking a safe environment that fosters self confidence and excels in teaching competitive skills that last a life time.

What Mom doesn’t want that?!  Step out of the selling zone and into the messaging zone!  You need to start speaking your customer’s language. Sure, they’re going to buy your product  or service but get familiar with “the why behind the buy.”

If you have trouble identifying the reason people are buying your services, then as them.  Ask why they are at your business or even what made them choose you.  Usually customers have at least one more choice similar to your services, so it’s important to ask!

When you identify the why you can brand your experience. Huh?  What is branding the experience.  Well, much like a car dealership has a 30 point inspection, develop a catchy slogan to define you in the market place.  The 30 point inspection test helps to calm a customer ‘s fear of getting a lemon… without actually using the word lemon!

These small changes, i.e.,  branding the experience or “identifying the why” will help you to better brand your message and more effectively communicate with your customers. When you communicate most effectively you build a connection and cause a tribe to take hold… this builds community and trust and that’s how you create an Infinity Customer that sticks around for the long haul with you!

Episode #341 – Give ‘Em What They Want!

“The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service sells itself” PDrucker

Wouldn’t it be great if your product sold itself?!  YES!

Here’s the reality, it take a lot of work to get your product to sell itself.  But, if you build an Infinity Marketing Machine your goal is to sell the product once.  Just once.  Then repeat.

It’s like that Shampoo commercial… rinse and repeat!

But do it over and over and over.

Here’s what I mean… you will decide the path your potential customer will take.  Along the way you already have anticipated questions, so simply pre-answer them! Imagine the customer in front of you, they’re asking questions, and you’re doing your job answering the questions.  Now put this outline down on paper.  This is your guide to the information you need to give to your potential customers.

Provide the answers in website pages and emails. The more detailed the better.  This is how you start to streamline your time by letting people get lots of questions answered AND it’s one of the best ways to get products to sell themselves.

Another great way to streamline your efforts is to develop your list and offer products they’ll be interested in.  When you are able to identify the characteristics of your customer base, finding products they’ll be interested in purchasing becomes easier.  It’s a fantastic way to increase your sales and also build trust with your list.

Why?

People like to do business with people that “get” them… so if you don’t waste their time with a bunch of information or products they’re not interested in, they’ll appreciate the relationship you are developing!

Episode #305 – This is the Easiest Way to Build Loyalty With Your Customers…

“Clear and consistent communication helps your customer get to know you and what you have to offer.”

The Infinity Marketing Machine is about caring.  You want to communicate with your customers because you care.   You want them to get the information you provide because it’s useful to them.

This is completely different from providing information because you feel like you should post or because you haven’t posted in a while.

Think about those two statements… if you are posting because you haven’t in a while… why is that?  Do you have nothing to say?  I doubt that!  There is probably a lot to talk about, but, you simply haven’t planned it out.  Tuesday is our content and consistency day.  We take an entire day to chat about topics related to the importance of providing consistent content!  When you use a monthly calendar technique you’ll have greater success.

The calendar technique works! You just plot out important dates in your business and area that you customers would enjoy learning more about.  Check my Etsy store for the “Best and Simple Social Marketing Planner” I created.

The reason it works is because it keeps you on schedule AND you’re providing useful content.  To truly gain an Infinity Customer you must be willing to enter into a relationship with your customer. Just like a real world relationship you must care.  It’s no different from having a friend and not talking to them… eventually they’re insulted and go away!

BINGO… Followers leave if you don’t keep them engaged.

The great part of the Infinity Marketing Machine is the constant release of information, on an automated consistent basis, that let’s them know you’re here!  Since sometimes it feels like a “one sided conversation” because you don’t get face-to-face time, you need to anticipate the needs of your customers and provide the information they need!  Just remember… they are listening.

And that’s where it circles back to the calendar.  The calendar keeps you on track.  The calendar identifies dates important to your customer.  The customer appreciates your willingness to anticipate their needs.  This builds loyalty.  And then the cycle starts over!

The Infinity Marketing Machine is the best way to have your customers get to know you and as a result know what you offer!

Episode #281 – There’s a New Way to Talk With Customers… Learn It Or You’ll Be Left Behind

“Talk to people, not customers”

The quicker you realize that customers are people, the faster your online communication will grow!

Here’s what I mean.  And this is a hard concept to wrap your head around if you were in your teens in the 80’s.  You need to stop being formal.

This really is difficult.  It’s good you have a formal way of writing and to use proper English.  But… when it comes to style, personality will go very far in gaining trust.

Now I said if you were in your teens… I mean at the youngest… Teens+ in the 80s.  We grew up in a time when newscasts were (painfully) formal with forced banter… OK it hasn’t changed that much.  But what has changed is the social media way of filming.

Do you remember when your family got it’s first video camera… or using a super 8 movie camera?  You never wanted to shake the camera!

Now, it’s almost preferred, however, it is changing.  I have a Smove and although I’m still getting used to it, it’s pretty cool.  It’s a camera stabilizer AND it has feature where it follows your face… it gets a little creepy – but you can bob your head around and the camera follow you!  Cool and creepy!

I’ve gotten a little off topic, so back to talking to people vs. customers.  When you talk to people, and by talk I mean video, audio, written and in person.  When you communicate with people you do so in a relationship manner.  This is very different from the 80’s newscast where people were stiff and awkward, that’s talking to a customer.

It’s the difference between “one and done” and building an “infinity customer” – go for the relationship.

Episode #186 – Capture Customer Information Now, You’ll Be Glad You Did Later!

Do you operate as a one and done business or an infinity customer business?  The traditional advertising model has pushed business to advertise “blanket” style.  We created an ad and placed in a general publication and we waited.  We waited for customers to show up.

We can still participate in this traditional advertising model, and I argue we should to a certain extent, but what is more fun is when you work to capture the information and loyalty of your customers.

When you gain this loyalty you are on the path to creating an infinity customer.

An infinity customer is a customer that sticks around!  This person appreciates your business and is often a raving fan.  Their loyalty brings repeat business and new customers.  You can rely on this person to write reviews and help onboard new customers.  They may even bring referral customer to your business.

The infinity customer provides you with information to build your database. They accept your email marketing and they participate in your social posts.

This customer is critical to your end game.  As you move from traditional marketing to an infinity marketing machine you will more heavily rely on this customer.  Start today to attract them.  Make sure to set your systems in place to capture their email, even if this is a simple paper and pencil sheet of paper.  For your own benefit, add a check box to the form where they check that they will accept your marketing pieces.  But, do what you can to collect the information.

This is the beginning block to develop an infinity customer.
