ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 489 – Third Party Proof is the Online Substitute for First Hand Interaction

“Excellence is not Being The Best; It is Doing The Best.”

Monday Topic: Character (Subject Matter Expert)

Welcome to Monday!  We’re starting the week with us.

I know… you’re thinking, “she’s way too happy for a Monday morning” — well you’re right!  Time to get up and think positive thoughts about ourselves.

It’s time to promote yourself.

This is a very important skill to learn and practice because you need to get the word out about YOU.  The reason behind this is to build credibility online.

If you had a customer in front of you they would be able to ask questions and gauge your honesty by your answers, not just what you say… but how you say it.

Online, you need to build your Subject Matter Expertise.  This is the magic that is you… meaning 3rd party things that help tell your story.  For example, your educational training, this could be a degree or certificate.  Both are earned from a 3rd party institution.

You could include newspaper or magazine articles that show your credibility.  Again, written by a source, other than you, helps to tell your story.  Here’s a story about how I’ve implemented the Infinity Marketing Machine at our family marina… cool, eh?  I like to think that when you read it, it adds to my social proof!

Awards are a great source of 3rd party proof, too.  Show the photo of you on stage or the trophy you won.  These are all helpful things to show a total story about you and your excellence.

Remember, just like today’s inspiration state, excellence is not being best, it’s doing the best.  HOWEVER, to do your best… sometimes you need to prove how you are the best and that comes from boasting your Subject Matter Expertise.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 483 – Why Original Content Helps You

“People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.”- John C Maxwell

Monday Topic: Character (Subject Matter Expert)

As we welcome our Monday let’s review the 5 C’s of the Infinity Marketing Machine.  These 5 C’s are the foundation that convert your customers into a tribe that knows, likes, and trusts you.  They are:  Character, Content, Consistency, Customers and Cash.

Today I’m looking at our first “C” of Character a little different.  I want to look at it from a leadership angle.

Regularly I write about the importance of “proving” your credibility with honors/awards, education/certifications, and even blogging your expertise.  This is important.  However, like today’s inspirations states, “People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.”- John C Maxwell.

This tells me you need to be a leader.  And as we convert our customers into a loyal tribe, they need you to lead.

How do you do this?

Let’s go back to that blog thing… whether you like writing or speaking, you need to provide original content about your store, business, and industry.  It’s important!

You’re already talking with customers and reading industry magazines or attending conferences.  Learn to share this information on your website whether it’s written or transmitted via video.  This first hand presentation of information is valuable to positioning yourself as a Subject Matter Expert!

Think about what draws you to a business… it’s information. You visit a site and can see the product or service… but what about the information.  Do they share their story, history, or expertise? When they do feature this first hand information… you trust them.

This is the importance of our first “C” and as you see it’s fundamental to building trust with a tribe.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #474 – Create Your Own Closed Market of Customers

“Chase your Customer, not your Competition.”

Thursday: Infinity Customer

How do you chase something you can’t find?  We’re quickly approaching hunting season.  In Minnesota this is a big deal. We have duck season, deer, and a bunch others… I’m not a hunter but it’s big.

If you’re hunting… you clearly go where your animal is… whether it’s an open field, in a marsh, or in the woods, your animal has a habitat.  It makes sense to go hang out where they are.

Well… we in advertising we use to have a pretty easy time finding our field, marsh, or woods.  It was easy to place an ad in the Sunday paper, the phone book, or on the radio.

But then the internet happened.

Now we could place an ad on many websites, our own website, or even in the newspaper.  It’s very noisy and there are tons of places to put an ad.  When we actually pay money for an ad it’s likely that our competitors are doing the same thing.

Wouldn’t it be better to have a closed market where we’re the only ad?

YES!

The Infinity Marketing Machine allows us to create our own closed market!  We have a great group of customers in a location we can find them!  We communicate with them, build trust, and increase sales.

It puts us into a position of strength.  We no longer are reactive to what our competition is doing and instead gives us the opportunity to bond with our customers.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 462 – Creepy Phone

“Selling to people who actually want to hear from you is more effective than interrupting strangers who don’t.” – Seth Godin

Thursday: Infinity Customer

Yesterday I was talking to one of my crew members.  We were done for the day and he was on his way to ask his girlfriend to the homecoming dance.

BTW, this has turned into a big event. Not the dance, the actual asking a date to the dance… but that’s a topic for a different day.

He was telling me about the plan and he said, “It’s going to be a fun HOCO invite… blah blah blah” – I missed most of the conversation because I was processing HOCO.  Then I figured it was short for homecoming.  I’m not cool, but I’m not stupid!

He left.

I woke up my phone, checked Facebook for the 300th time that day… and boom. There it was, an ad for Homecoming dresses to celebrate HOCO.

I was (and still am) completely creeped out and angry that my phone was not just listening/monitoring me… but actually picked up the voice of a stranger… and then sent me an ad for teen dresses.

Facebook can be a good place to target market your product. But remember this… these people are NOT looking for you!

Again, super creepy monitoring 24/7 Facebook is gross, and it sends you ads.  These ads “can” be helpful, for example if I were looking for a “HOCO Dress” per the conversation it eavesdropped on…. but I’m not, they interrupted me… and worse yet… caused me to write a post so you could read it.

I still think it’s useful to use the targeting tools that Facebook has for advertising, but remember this:  Facebook contains people you interrupt. Google contains people looking for the thing you are advertising!

This is a VERY big difference.

If you are trying to build a pipeline to your Infinity Marketing Machine… you don’t want to interrupt, you want to attract!

Lots and Lots of money can be wasted on paid ads – that’s why we create an Infinity Marketing Machine to capture the customers, and continually entertain them so they want to buy from us and so we’re not interrupting them!

OH, and be careful what you say around your phone.  so so creepy.

Quit Thinking Small – Episode #450

“Quit Thinking Small” Roxanne Rockvam

Thursday: Infinity Customers

The goal with the Infinity Marketing Machine is to create your own tribe.  This is the group of customers that know, like, and trust you!  When you’ve gained “the big three” you are able to suggest different products… and make more money.

The road to “the big three” takes time and consistent effort… and that’s when small business owners hit a wall.

I remember reading a social media “how to” book that said, “prepare to spend 15 hours a week on blah blah blah”.  I burst out laughing… who has time!  This quickly became a “how not to” book for social media marketing!

That’s when I decided there’s got to be a better way — thus, I developed the Infinity Marketing Machine.

But recently it’s felt like something has been missing.  Yes, you build this machine and you create customers that become loyal tribe members… however, I’m convinced we need a mind shift.  We need to “Quit Thinking Small”.

I’ve always had this feeling deep in my gut that “small business” has a negative vibe.  Sure the physical size of businesses are not “large” and most focus around one or two  entrepreneurs, physically it’s small.  BUT, just for fun,  I looked up synonyms for “small” and the list included, puny, pitiful, petty, little, diminutive, meager, slight… it kept going.  Do you have a puny business?  How about a diminutive business?  Worst yet… is it a “cute” business… I hate that one!

Now… here are a few of the antonyms of small:  great, important, substantial, unrestricted… doesn’t a “great business”, or “important business” sound better?

Here’s where I’m going…

Quit Thinking Small and Start Doing Infinity

OLD MINDSET:  Products + Customers = Small Businesses

NEW MINDSET: Infinity Products + Infinity Customers = Infinity Businesses

When you produce a product that is ongoing without an upper limit and when you convert your customers from “one and done” to Infinity through my process of tribeology.  You have transitioned from entrepreneur to Infinitypreneur!

Quit Thinking Small.

Make Memories Now! – ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #426

“Collect Moments, Not Things”

Thursday: Infinity Customer

What did you do on August 8, 1981?  How about January 17, 1994?  And finally, what did you do last Tuesday at 3:42pm?

These are impossible questions to answer… impossible unless there was a significant moment like your birthday, a day you broke your arm, or maybe lost a loved one.  Days run together but there are moments that might make them stick out.

Do you remember the first car you had? Mine was a 1983 Dodge Omni.  It was the coolest car ever.  Black with a red interior, and a super cool after market stereo that I had to work a month to pay for.  It was EVERYTHING to a 17 year old in 1987!  But you know what… I have no desire to own that car right now, no way!  But the memory of it is precious.  I love thinking of the days of driving around with my friends to cheerleading practice or the movies…

Memories are the thing we strive for!  Memories are the things your tribe strives for, too!  Every interaction you have with your tribe needs the goal of a memory maker! Don’t get stressed out, just like May 13, 1972 happened, so will Post #426, but your GOAL is to be memorable!

Be memorable online and in real life.  Your tribe craves belonging and commonality. Both are created by sharing a bond and that bond is created with memories.  You are traveling a journey together.  For us here at ProfitCenterCoach, we all want to improve our business and make money, but we want to do this by building a loyal tribe via consistent communication.  In other words, we want to create an Infinity Marketing Machine.  Our commonality is our success stories!  Sharing how our personal Infinity Marketing Machine… worked!

So today, create memories and turn your “one and done” customer into an Infinity Customers.

Thanks for hanging out with me… If you like my vibe, subscribe to my tribe!  start here

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Day 29 – You Need a List

“You can’t go back and make a new start, but you can start now and make a brand new ending.” James R. Sherman

You want to start your social media marketing plan… but you just can’t quite get going.  I’m here to say, you can start right now and never feel behind again!

Here’s the best way to think about it… Right now send an email about the “widget” you have for sale.

Can you do this?

If not… why?  Is it because you don’t have a list???  I understand, but this week I’m going to spend a little time on this topic.  Creating an Infinity Marketing Machine will be an amazing addition to your business…

SO…

You need a list and I don’t mean your list of followers on Facebook or Twitter.  Although nice, the Facebook/Twitter/etc list doesn’t give you any control or security because they can disappear in a moment.  Seriously, changes in their rules could wipe out years of your efforts overnight.

You need a list of people you work with right now!  Start collecting this.  Look forward one month, and imagine if I walked up to you and said, send an announcement email about “widget A” — AND YOU CAN!

How good would that feel? Pretty amazing.

Now… tomorrow I’m going share some fun ways to build your list… so come back!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Day 16 – Focus!

“I fear not the man who practiced 10,000 kicks, but I do fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” Bruce Lee

Focus.

Just focus.

I’ve used this answer more than once when it comes to a discussion of social media.

Last week I was interviewed for a magazine article about marketing.  And often people will ask, “how did you make over $100,000 in just 15 weeks?” – My answer is, I focused.  It’s how I created the Infinity Marketing Machine.

You need to take your efforts and really streamline what you are doing.

Last summer I set out to try what I thought would be a great path by using email and remaining in constant contact with our customers… and it worked better than I thought.

This really happened because I concentrated my effort on email.  I still use Facebook, but I stopped the 99 other things I was doing, from Twitter to Pinterest.  The real results come with you can build a tribe of loyal customers.

In fact… when you do this you will become unstoppable.

Just remember… email and Facebook worked for my niche – for you it might be YouTube and Pinterest.

Find the platform and focus.

Master your one kick!
AND KICK!
