TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 683 – What’s the Real Value of ONE Post?

Here we go!  Post 683.  That’s so many… and you know what??  I started with post number one.

I didn’t plan to write over 600 posts, in fact, when I started I really really REALLY worried I’d run out of things to say.  I also feared that I’d use up all of my “good stuff” at the beginning and the rest of the post would be lame.

Here’s secret, not every post will be amazing.  Not every post will even be interesting.  But there’s something about the consistency that is important.

For me the consistency helps me build a pattern.  I have a specific time of day that I allocate for writing.

Here’s another little secret, when I started writing I did so for me.  It was MY goal to write every day, just to see if I could do it… but somewhere along the way it transformed into writing for you.

I write to share information to help with your journey and your process.  The fun part of a post such as this is to share where I was because it’s quite likely you are there right now.

Someday you will have over 600 posts, if and only if, you have your number one post.  Not your best post, just your first… then you keep going.

But I’ll tell you this… when you do have this type of momentum you will also be building your very own content library that you can re-use!  If I took every post together in one great big book I’d have almost 700 pages!

However as a content marketer, the value is not 700 pages together – but understanding if I chose to re-use each post I’d have nearly 700 days of content!  What’s that… 2 years?  cool.

But again, it all starts with ONE… just one page, one post, and one moment to sit down and write, it’s pretty valuable.

Enjoy, relax, take your time.  What does this mean?  This means be comfortable.

I enjoy being comfortable, I’m assuming you do… too.

Your customers also enjoy being comfortable.  Therefore, it’s important to consider ways to make them feel more at home.

This could be as simple as making sure your website has it’s certificate up to date, or having reading glasses for use to see small print on contracts or receipts.

Well…

This was a dream!  The grocery cart at Winn Dixie has actual cup holders fused to the handle area.  This small addition really makes it easy to enjoy your beverage while shopping the store.

Small attentions to detail make a difference!

Here’s a great “small change” idea… dress for success!

It works for your personal appearance, so why wouldn’t it work with your products?  Well, it does!

When you take a little extra time to “spruce” up your appearance you will make more money!  The packaging is your silent salesperson… but that doesn’t mean they need to stay quiet.

Take a second look at your products and determine what you can do to give them a face lift.

I love the way this necklace looks!  It’s a neat piece of jewelry but it’s enhanced by the thoughtful packaging.

If you were shopping for a gift, especially someone with a May birthday, the necklace is nice, but the card it’s attached to makes you WANT to give this as a gift.

Start to view your packaging as the way you “dress” your products.  This also applies to your photos… update and express your style by telling stories with your photos!

Episode #235 – Glasses With a Message

Advertise on your own glasses!  BUT… do it like Quarterdeck.

Last week I attended Marina Manager training and we went out for a group lunch.  While eating I noticed the cup had a special message on one side.

It had a QR code to scan for specials.

OK — it’s a very cool idea.  While you are sitting in the restaurant you can scan your glass to see what the specials are, RIGHT NOW.  This is different from putting it on a place card on the table.  Only those that try scanning their glass will be rewarded.

Now, one way to “level up” this type of promotion would be to use the “text a word” to a designated number to immediately collect the customers text number and/or email!  That way you could give the customer specials and allow you to send other updates in the future.

You see… you put this information on your promotional cup… but the landing page can change to what ever message you desire!  So you print once and then… up to the minute… you can update the special!  This is why it’s such a valuable “real time” item!

Episode #211 – Who Else Wants a Clever Marketing Idea?

Even though I often mention my need to be the “cool aunt”… I can’t take credit for this idea, my niece is the smart one.

She gave her mom a gift… her mom loved it!  OK, I thought it was pretty cool… so I decided to share it with you.

Look close… you might miss how clever it is and how you can apply this idea to your business.

My sister’s gift was a package of sample perfumes.  But it’s not what you’re thinking.  Sample perfumes makes you think they’re the tiny tubes in cardboard holders.  Nope!  She received a beautiful package of five bottles in a pretty sliding box.

Here’s the amazing thing. This gift includes a gift card for a “full size” bottle.

This is a great way to get customers to buy sample products as a gift.  The recipient gets to pick their their favorite fragrance or taste and come pack for “the big one”.

There’s your idea.  Create a “sample size” that fits in a “sample kit” and package with the gift card for “the big one”

Sample size gift packs are really just borrowed from “beer flights”.

Now, figure out how you can use this tool at your business!
