Yesterday I started my interview season… and it got me thinking about consistency, more specific what does consistency mean.

A great way to conduct an interview is to keep a list of questions and ask each candidate the same questions.  It helps you develop a baseline from which to compare their compatibility and find the best rise to the top.

Well… while the questions are the same, and you get the general topics covered.  That is where consistency ends.  The answers change the course of the interview wildly.

And the same happens when you provide content to your audience.

Let’s use today’s quote as your guide.  Let’s say I ask, what does the quote“If you are consistent, you will get results.” mean to you?

You will answer in a different way than I would answer.

So while the question is consistent, the answers will go all over the map.  That’s the fun of consistency in content.

This is why you need a content plan!

The content plan keeps you on track.  Think of content like buckets.  Buckets that you an fill with articles or posts.  For example I use the 5 buckets… credibility, content, consistency, customers, and cash — Each day has a topic and I write within the topic.

This consistency helps you as a reader to anticipate what “tomorrow” will bring… it’s comfortable.  It’s a surprise as to “what” the post will be, but you have comfort in understanding “why” the information is provided!

Stop and do this.

Make your broad topics.  Select 3 to 6 buckets that you know you can fill and then all you have to do is fill them!

SO make it your goal for today to pick your buckets!

Do you know what I love?  I love when I go to a store and find an amazing “Try This!” topic.  And I found this yesterday!

It was noon and it was a Friday Crew Lunch Day.  I happened to be “out and about” so I stopped by Dominos’ to pick up our pizzas.

This is such a great way to get kids involved in your business.  After all, kids are future buyers of pizza… think teenagers!

 

This also creates a bond with your brand.  The kids may not be able to tell you what “kid friendly is” but they sure know the places they feel welcome.

I remember this exact sort of set up at an old restaurant in our area called “Shakeys” – it was actually a sit down restaurant, but after your order was taken, you could go right up to the bank of windows and watch the pizzas being made… and to attract kids there was a step area to a platform, very similar to the Dominos example.

You might be thinking… but we don’t make pizza… being kid friendly could also be an area with toys, a cookie club, or a take home coloring book.  Um… I remember toys at the dentist, cookie club at the grocery store, and the coloring book from the bait store.

Look for a special way to involve your youngest tribe members!

A lot of times when you prepare your marketing goal you emphasize the most powerful feature… but lots of times we overlook the treasure.

The treasure is the most common thing.

Now I love this example because it’s actual junk!  It happens to be a very small and often overlooked thing… a water spout… that is transformed into beautiful flowers.

But look at this post, it’s not saying “come buy our spout flowers for $10.00” it’s showing a beautiful photo.   A photo that you understand are flowers, but are not traditional flower colors so you stop and read. That’s when you see they not natural and are actually JUNK!

This type of photo is a great way to capture attention.  But the reason it is such an impactful post is that it’s timely.  Look around your store and see what is timely and wrap your post topic around it.

The junk flowers could be posted at any time of year because the business sells them… however, when you twist your post to revolve around timely topics… WOW you really get a much bigger bang for your buck!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 536 – Turn “Get It” Into “Get It Done”

Today it’s time do just get it done!  The best way to do this is to take action and make it happen.

Sure that sounds easy – but is that the best course of action…  I’m going to argue and say “not really” – taking action to take action is unproductive and often leaves to spinning in circles.

If you stop and take time to do a little planning, guess what… you’re still taking action.  Sweet!  How does that sound?!  Pretty awesome.

Don’t get sucked into permanent planning – and I think this is what today’s inspiration is warning against.  That moment when you all of a sudden become afraid to do anything.

I’ll be honest – I’m experiencing this right now… I need to “upload” a welcome profile – it sounds like an easy task, but honestly it’s become difficult.  I’ve heard that when something seemingly easy becomes difficult you’re assigning an unrealistic level of importance to it.

So let’s evaluate – you can’t take action and you are stuck in planning or preparing mode… when this happens, ask yourself WHY.

Again, most likely you’ll discover that you are attaching a high level of importance. When you use this little trick to discover your issue, it becomes much easier to just “get it done”.  The task might have significance, then again, maybe it really doesn’t?

Get it?

Turn that “get it” into “get it done”!

What is a beautiful thing about your business?  What is it that you can feature that stops customers in their tracks?

This is a big money small change hint that can impact your social posts.

Look at this example…

The fun thing is… when you flip through your feed and come across it, at first glance it looks like a regular motivational quote.

But on a closer glance… it’s actually a great way to promote the business which is a real estate group.

SO while you may see the photo and think, “ahhhhhh that’s amazing.  If only I could…?” the answer is their business, right there in the comments!  Right there making it possible.

It’s a beautiful way to strike at the emotion of your customers.

Seek this out.  Look to ways you can attack the emotions.  Whether it’s a lifestyle, a better way of life, a memory, a relationship.  There is someway to get to the essence of health, wealth, or love.

Get this right and you will increase your cash!

Today’s quote is amazing.  By doing the same thing you can either stay where you are or get you somewhere you want to go!

Is that possible?

Well, if you ride in a car and keep the speed at 55MPH you will get where you want to go!  You keep the speed consistent AND you travel forward.

Let’s think about consistency in the context of content.

IF you want to attract and shape your tribe you must communicate on a regular basis.

Therefore, just like the speed of your car sticking to 55 MPH if you consistently stick to a regular posting schedule, say 3 times a week, you will get to your goal of a tribe that is loyal and follows you.

This is important!

If you take your foot off the gas, let’s say, you stop posting, your may coast for a little while, but ultimately you will stop and your goal of “getting somewhere” like bonding your tribe, goes away, too!

Consistency is the number one, most important thing, you can do AND control to transform customers into a tribe.
