The Infinity Marketing Machine is based on a 5C pillar system of Credibility, Content, Consistency, Customers, and Cash.  That’s why I’ve chosen this blog to spend each day on a different “C”.

But you know what’s fun…

When I find a quote that says something very similar… and that’s today’s topic for credibility!

Money is not cash… it’s the “THING” that makes trading two wants equal.  It would be hard to be a dancer that wants gum from the convenience store and find a store owner that appreciates a single leap enough to trade for gum.

However, if the dancer sells tickets to a performance and accepts money for the tickets, the dancer can go to the convenience store to get gum.

Normally I’d use chocolate chip cookies for my examples… but I’m trying to cut sugar out of my diet and I dislike gum.

SO… back to the quote and how it relates to our 5C system.

Money is credibility, credible relationships, character and competence.

When you build your Infinity Marketing Machine – you provide content that attracts a tribe… and you must provide that content consistently to build trust.

This trust is your action and follow through which is your relationship trust and is different from the trust you gain as a Subject Matter Expert based off your character.

But the character trust is what makes your content reliable and worth coming back again and again as you consistently build your relationship.

Eventually the customer turns to a tribe that you offer items for sale that you know they desire and BOOM…that’s when your skills and trust transforms into money that you can use to buy gum.

The dancer showcases all of her Subject Matter Expertise on a stage to an audience willing to trade money for a ticket to see her provide content they will enjoy, but the cash is just the equalizer to allow her to buy gum.  It’s the trust that brings them into the theater.

Build trust and eventually you’ll be able to buy gum.

More than once I’ve shown examples of how awesome restroom advertising can be.  You have a captive audience in the restroom and typically it’s a complete lack of competition for messaging.

Rarely do I point out the bad execution examples… but here you go.

What the heck are you suppose to type in for a URL?

Don’t Do This!

I totally want to use the emoji of the smack yourself in the face.  You want someone to work for your and you use a symbol in a URL?

How many people will look for this as an emoji… or an eyeball… or not even a clue.

The argument can be made that if you’re too dumb to figure out how to apply, maybe you shouldn’t have a job.

But seriously.  It’s “clever” but in the super important part of your ad, don’t mess with it!  Just use text.

When you do this you can actually cost yourself sales, or in this case potential employees.  You want to create “Big Money Small Change” moments… not “Big Money and Zero Results” advertising!

Friday night I received a, “… mentioned you” comment from Facebook.

It was from someone I don’t really talk to.  I also didn’t post anything earlier in the day… so it was odd.

I opened the comment and found a woman looking to purchase pageant banners because her normal vendor came up with a problem… she is completely stressed because the pageant is in a week.

Alright, this might seem strange so here’s the backstory.

I competed in baton twirling for 17 years.  Part of every twirling contest is a pageant category or awards that involve pageant sashes.  There are a couple social media sites I run for baton twirlers, and I also create rhinestone T shirts… well, I thought… maybe making pageant sashes would be a great way to provide a service to the baton twirling community.

Last year, I tried.  I made some for one contest… then crickets.

Until Friday.

The gal I made the sashes recommended me in the answer to the woman seeking help with her Facebook need.  Since I was tagged, I hopped on and put the link (MyAwesomeTitle.com) to the sashes I create… then about 30 minutes later, my phone did “cha ching”

We operate in a very interesting commerce era… right now.

Credibility and personal reference is more important than ever.

Lots of people listed who they used in the reply for help on Facebook…. but she chose me.

It’s just something to think about as you work to develop your online credibility and social network.  It really gives purpose to all of that work you are putting into your Infinity Marketing Machine!

You are creating content but this is all about creating a connection.  And it was the mutual connection that got me the order.

I’m sure of it.

You might be denying it – but there’s something irritating you.

hummmm… see what I did there?  I turned mad into irritating.

If you stayed at mad… you’d focus on something you simply can’t control and worse it’s something that consumes you.

Turn mad into irritating… how ever that needs to be done because irritating you can live with. Think about it.  How many things irritate you?

OH I have a whole bunch.

But I can move forward without wasting a whole bunch of time on irritating.  But Mad…. when you visit mad you spend a heck of a lot of time, wasting time.

Then you get to the end of the day and find out you accomplished NOTHING except mad.

Turn your mad into irritating and you’ll get a whole lot more done!

Here’s a funny thing I noticed this holiday season… there was a lot of hype about discounts, specials, and bargains… but I didn’t see a lot about “the season of giving”

That’s why this post caught my eye…

As you are looking for your “Big Money Small Change” idea, why not expand your universe.

How hard would it be to host an event that proceeds are donated, or collections are organized for charity?

Like in the example above, lots of people have extra “stuff” in their closets and the right event might get the “stuff” into the hands that can use it.

Be the coordinator.

As we head into the last week of the year… lead your tribe.  Coordinate the coat drive, canned food drive, or even the donated proceeds campaign.

This is an event… it’s OK to make money at it… no one says you have to work for free, just take a minute to help make it a “season of giving”

So who is the star of the show?  Clearly it’s Monday so it’s “Subject Matter Expert Day”… so you think it’s you, right?

UM, it might be…

But the purpose of positioning yourself as a Subject Matter Expert is to allow others to gain trust in your background making you more credible.

For example, I can tell you to use the 5 pillars of the Infinity Marketing Machine, “Credibly, Content, Consistency, Customers, and Cash” and leave it at that… but if I say, I sent out one email and generated $1,800 in sales in two hours… or if I said that a week ago I sent out two emails in 4 days and generated $17,000 in sales, that makes your ears perk up…

However, that doesn’t make me the star.

YOU are the star… (in this case).

What do I mean?

I mean make your customer the star.  In a WIIFM (What’s In It For Me) world you’ve people only care about how something effects them.

That means my above examples are only good in that YOU want to achieve these types of results… right?!?!?

Yep.

Now, it’s the Christmas season so here’s a little real world present for you.  And I think it’s fun!

Let’s jump back to your tribe member as the “star” in the context of making them a Subject Matter Expert.

What?

How on earth do you do that?

It’s super simple… You can do it by elevating their status.

Everyone loves a loyalty card, VIP group, or even a certificate.  These distinctions in your tribe will give others something to strive for…  And at times it will give them the opportunity to list it on their “resume” as a Subject Matter Expert.

How?

Have you ever attended a conference and paid for VIP access?

Well.. often as such there is an photo opportunity… depending on circumstances, this can be hung in their office, store, or even displayed on their website.

 

I had the opportunity to meet Gary Vaynerchuk at a VIP event.  And in return I got a photo.

Another way to help your tribe with their credibility and increase yours is to have a certificate… It doesn’t have to be a complicated process.

Here’s how I used this process… I created a “Clean Boater Pledge” program. If you’re a boater – make sure to take the pledge.

It’s a simple “yes” checkbox and when you’re done it emails you a digital certificate to print and display.

But what this does is adds to their credibility!  People that love boating and want to spread the word pledge to environmentally sound boating practices.

My brand PontoonGirl.com has an “army” of followers to help in our mission.  The followers are elevated, and the brand is strengthened.

So as we head into this week of holiday madness, think of how to make the tribe that follows you, “stars”.

At first it might seem like a strange way to build your credibility by making someone else the “star” but creating a way to elevate a tribe member status is a wonderful way to build loyalty and increase your subject matter expertise.

Santa makes everyone feel special – yet sometimes he makes certain people feel MORE special than others.

WHAT?!?!?

Santa Plays favorites?

YES, he does.

I was at the mall earlier this week and I saw a very modern addition to Santa’s home.  He installed a fast pass lane.

Now the funny thing is, I’m a close friend of Santa.  I worked at his house when I was in college and once a Santa’s Helper, always a Santa’s helper.

As such I have a little inside scoop into how he keeps his home.

Typically, everyone is treated the same with great amounts of hospitality.

Then this week I saw this!!!

So Santa Plays Favorites… right?

Well, maybe not.  Maybe he just understands how busy people are and he REALLY wants to make sure he sees all the good girls and boys – or better yet, maybe there are a few on the naughty and nice list that he MUST see, so he created a Fast Pass lane that you can schedule a specific time to visit.

Now the great thing is, you can learn from Santa and find the way to do this yourself.  Do you have a process for checking-in that could be “pre done” online or do you have a way to call in your order for food, or can you use a door lock with a code to let people access your building or home instead of waiting for you…  there are lots and lots of ways to create a “fast pass”.

AND when you create these opportunities to “plan ahead” your customers will LOVE you!   I mean I think the best thing ever created is the ability to order online at Subway and just pick up my sandwich!
