Who do you follow?  Think about the people, brands, celebrities, products, businesses?  Which ones do you love…

Now ask yourself why do you follow them?  Why do you feel such a connection with the entity that you follow it?

You see, I’ve heard you can follow something as simple as cereal.  Growing up I used to love a trip to the grocery store to visit the cereal aisle.  That was always cool.  Way better than the spices (yawn, boring).  But I bet you can follow a spices page…

So why do we do this?

Because we want to belong.  I follow my favorite hotel in Florida.  Why?  Each time I see the pool, I envision myself floating in it!  I imagine that people who follow spices think of smells or tastes?  OK, I have no idea… that’s just to strange for me.  But hey, I’m not part of that tribe!

And that’s the point.

As a follower you want to belong.  That’s why you give permission for a toilet paper company to send you information.

Now reverse engineer this… do YOU offer an “experience” that people want to follow?  And I don’t just mean online. Do they want to west a T shirt with your logo?  At the heart of it, are you a good leader?  Remember, you are the vibe behind your tribe.

This vibe is a critical portion of your Infinity Marketing Machine.  The reason is that you want people to hang out with you and consume the content you provide. When they stick around they become loyal and that loyalty translates into more sales.

That’s what we all want… more sales!

Your vibe can be created. It is a combination of your policies and procedures mixed with your products and services tied together with your history and story!

This vibe is critical to your Infinity Marketing Machine.  The stronger and more defined your vibe the better your results will be.

Take some time today to see what vibe you already have… and then decide if it’s what you really want to be leading!  If it’s not… change it.

It’s OK to be a beginner… in certain areas.  It’s also OK to “Fake it till you make it” – in certain areas.

Let’s explore.

Check out the photo I selected for today’s inspiration.  It’s a beautiful bouquet of wooden tulips.  Now… if you a gift shop with a spring display and have the wooden tulips, brilliant!  They won’t die.  However, if you’re a florist and you try to “fake it till you make it” with the wooden tulips… that’s just strange!

You are an expert in your business. You can’t fake that.  However, you might be a beginner at the social media thing… and that’s OK to “fake” – jump in, write a post, analyze what works, and do it again.  Learning on the job is OK!  This is the perfect time to “fake it till you make it.”

But it’s very simplistic, so simplistic I can come up with a “Saturday Night Live” character for both scenarios!

Debbie Downer vs. Stewart Smalley

I’m not a fan of SNL, but… think about it… you can either be Debbie and drown in your own pitty party OR you can sit in front of a mirror and pep yourself up with a mantra of “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me”.

The choice is yours!

I seriously cannot believe I’m referencing SNL! But, I saw this quote and it just became so clear.  You get to choose… Today will you channel your inner Debbie or Stewart?

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 432 – The Reason You Must Get Out of Your Comfort Zone.

Get outside of your comfort zone.  Remember this!  You need to get out of your comfort zone, well… every once in a while.

I’ll explain it like this.

While you goal is to create one tribe.  One group of people united by a common purpose or bond.  Your goal can get in your way.

Here’s how.

You need to provide information that your tribe desires and although it’s one tribe it’s a mass of individuals!  The individuals all have their own little mini-tribes of interest in you.

I’ll use my Facebook page for the boat yard as an example.  I enjoy posting photos of sunsets.  Why? They’re pretty!  They also have great interaction.

However, when I post a photo of a storm blowing across the lake, I also get interaction, it’s often a different segment that “likes” it.

What’s even more fun is when I post a story about our forklift… that brings an even different segment of interactions.

I don’t think the forklift lovers dislike the sunsets or vice versa, I just think it evokes a different sense of belonging.  But you know what… belonging is what we are striving for in creating the Infinity Marketing Machine.

Creating forklift posts is a little out of my comfort zone… or at least it’s not as easy as a sunset photo.  But you, just like me, needs a mix of topics to talk about!

Strive to create belonging by posting different “types” of stories for your tribe.  Soon you’ll notice different follower mini-tribes!  It’s a great strategy to build loyalty and turn the “one and done” customer into an “Infinity Customer”.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 431 – Goal. Plan. Go… Even If It’s Slow.

Do you have a plan?  It might be about your family, your business, or your health… but I’m just curious if you have a plan.

The reason I ask is because when you’re frustrated it’s often because you haven’t put any sort of goal in motion… a.k.a. a plan.  A plan is just a goal in motion!

And when something is in motion… it’s great!

I’m extremely busy right now, the reason… it’s summer!  We have a lot going on at the marina but I also know this… September will be here in 15 days and that’s when people, believe it or not, start Christmas shopping!  I do several things online that are all about the holiday shopping season… so I have a different goal right now.

It’s a personal goal…

And that’s to get my websites under control and ready to go for winter!  This is difficult with everything I’ve got going on, but, if I make a plan and regardless how “slow” it’s going toward accomplishing my goal… I am making progress and you know what????

I feel good about it!  Regardless of how slow it’s going right now… I am making progress toward my goal.

SO for you today, get yourself a reality check and see what is frustrating you, make your goal and just make a little progress EVERY DAY toward making it a success!

Bite size… slow and steady… but just keep going!

Have you ever wanted to “win” something. Now I don’t necessarily mean a trophy… I mean you’ve got a goal, you work hard to achieve it… then you look around and think “now what”.

Sometimes it’s easy to strive and achieve a goal…

The reason it’s easy is because you put a lot of energy into a plan.  But how many people actually put a plan in to maintaining?

I would almost be willing to say never.

That’s because consistency is not “valued”.  How many commercials have you seen where they promote the consistency… think about financial products.  Do they market the $250 you put away each month, forever?  No, they promote that you can retire before you die.

Same with weightloss… they never show what happens after the fatty turns slim.  They only show the before and after… not the “after after” where each and every day they’re STILL counting calories.

Consistency is BORRRRRRING.

But it’s vital.

When you decide to create a regular communication channel with your cutomers.  In other words when you decide to become the “vibe behind your tribe”.   You’ll find out that consistency is necessary – but not sexy.

You must have a plan.  Plan for consistency.  Decide that you will post once a week or twice a week at the same time… come up with “programming” – I do a different topic each day which helps me maintain consistency.

Remember…

Creating the blog and coming up with the plan is fun.  Sitting down and writing is fun but when you have lots of other things you’re working on, it can seem less than necessary.  However, if you don’t want to get fat you need to count calories.  If you want to retire, you need to accumulate money.  If you want to keep your followers around, you need to provide content consistently.

It’s Simple and Boring … but developing a plan for consistency will make you consistent.
