TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 795 – Are You Sure You Want to Achieve Your Goal?

Quote:  “Congratulations! You Can’t!”

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

Today’s quote captures your attention, doesn’t it?!?!  Guess what… I’m the one that said it!  hahaha

My niece was hanging out and I don’t even remember what the heck she was talking to her mom about – but she all of a sudden said, “I can’t” and without missing a beat… I chimed in, “Congratulations! You’re right!”

She looked at me with that stare you give people when they throw away a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie.

I went on to say, “Your goal was ‘I can’t’ and guess what, you didn’t – that means you are successful at goal!  Your goal of not achieving — soooo….. congratulations”

Needless to say, she was not impressed.

Saying “I can’t” is a self fulfilling prophecy.  We are all guilty of it… and often we say it without realizing it. But, the next time you catch yourself saying, “I can’t”…. stop and decide if this is the success you’re trying to achieve.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 783 – Productivity Break

Quote:  “The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts.” – M Aurelius

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

I’ve just spent about 30 minutes looking for my wireless microphone.  It’s missing… I didn’t think I would find it… and you know what. I didn’t.

So I bought another one on Amazon.  I figure the new one will arrive before I locate my now “old” one…

Now I wonder… If I searched with a mental thought process of “I will find my wireless microphone”  would I have found it?

We’ll never know, but, it’s worth thinking about.  Many teach the power of positive thoughts in manifesting a fantastic reality.  This is why our inspiration today is to encourage you to choose your thoughts wisely.

It gets hard when you’re in the middle of your grind.  Your business is a part of you.  It’s hard to keep your head above water… but you need this productivity boost.

Don’t let it stop after you leave this post.

Today, focus on your thoughts – what are you feeding your mind?  When you find yourself frustrated, stop and control what you’re thinking!  Give yourself that gift.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 745 – Who Are You Creating Content For?

Quote: “You are not trying to be everything to everyone. You have your niche, your clear and ideal customer. You’re crafting content for them.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

If you’re “stuck” and having trouble with your content direction… ask yourself, “Who am I creating content for?”

If you say my tribe… or my customers… or people.

You need to reevaluate your targets and goals!

Content is best created for  your ideal customer.  Think of that one person you want to attract, or maybe that one customer you want to repel.

Sheeh — yes, this works in the reverse too.  The person you can’t stand is obviously picking you for a reason – figure out what it is that is attracting them and RUN!  Do something that stops that invitation.

Alright back to the ideal customer.

Think of that perfect customer.  The one that pays you on time. The one that orders products and services from you. The one that makes your live enjoyable and profitable.

Now imagine you had 20 of those people to work with!  What a joy.

Write down the characteristics of this person… is it a man/woman, age, schooling, hobbies, likes, dislikes, height/weight, etc… just keep going and get specific.

NOW.  Think of this person and answer the question “What content am I going to create?”

If you have your ideal customer in mind… the answer to this question becomes easy!

Now go, do this exercise.

Episode #315 – The Reason a Business Personality Matters and Why You Should Care.

“A brand is no longer what we tell the consumer it is… it’s what consumers tell each other it is.” SCook

If you’ve had a small business for a while you’ll remember running it prior to the internet, or just as the internet was starting.  You also remember phone trees and having negative experiences with a “help” desk at a large business.  Then social media happened.  This gave consumers a voice.

We can argue the merits of whether this is a good thing or bad thing but that’s simply not productive.  We are here to improve our situation using the Infinity Marketing Machine.  So here goes.  If you think you control your brand, guess again.

You get to control the branding, that is, you get to formulate a message throw it against the wall and see if it sticks.  You get to take photos, write blogs, and create videos, but whether they match the expectations of your customers is up to…. ta da… your customers.

Here’s why.

Social media has leveled the playing field for consumers.  It’s actually made it uneven for the bad customers… you know the ones I’m talking about.  The customer that is never satisfied and will give you a bad review anyway… they tend to have a slight upper hand. Well, that is until they write some absurd review.  Don’t fret… when they show their crazy, other people see it too.

But this even playing field really affects you.  Gone are the days when you could create a brand and that was it.

I like to refer to social media as the personality of your business.  The reason is, your business can be sued and it needs to pay taxes, both things that a person can and must do… well people have personalities, and now businesses have personalities.  That means, just like people relate to people, businesses relate to people.

This ability to relate to people is created through your branding and personality development with content creation.  It’s hard to relate to people that do not speak… much like it’s hard to relate to businesses that do not communicate.

If you switch your thinking to brand development and that content is the express way to make this happen, the “job” of creating content takes on a whole new importance!

Episode #313 – Is Your Garbage Can or Cannotting?

“It’s called a garbage can, not a garbage cannot”

Ha ha ha – I think I’m stretching today for the inspiration!  But it cracked me up.

Happy Saturday – it’s our “Try This” topic day.  And today I’m bringing to attention the condition of your garbage can.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING
&
Look at your trash bin.

What’s the condition… are there droppings on the side of the piece mission scuffed and overflowing can – is your can “cannotting” right now?  Dang, I entertain myself.

But seriously, how gross does your trash can look?  How about the trash cans all around your property…

For me, bathrooms and trash cans are important.  I cannot stand to go near garbage cans that smell and have bees circling around.  Now that I’m pointing this out it’s going to drive you crazy.  You will totally notice garbage cans everywhere!  It’s true!

Here’s what I noticed at the New Orleans Convention Center.  SUPER CLEAN garbage cans.  Just look at my photo!  What I loved about them is that they had these cute, sweaters… or covers… or something that went around them.  They looked awesome!  Yes, that’s an embroidered Fleur de lis on the side.

It really added to the style and look of the building.  Instead of being an eyesore or not noticed, they created a great impression.  They “Can”!

Episode #148 – Consistency Works for Exercise, Dating, and Social Media Marketing

I had a conversation with my Aunt recently.  She was telling me that she walks every day for exercise.  I said, “wow, that’s great” and we got to talking about it.  The place she walks is a big indoor building and it’s about 20 minutes away from her house.  But that way rain or snow, she knows she can exercise… no excuses.  She went on to say, “I schedule it in.  It’s on my calendar.”

It’s on my calendar.

That’s a phrase worth writing down.

My Aunt also told me that if she didn’t schedule “walking” into her day she wouldn’t do it.  For perspective, she’s in her 70’s and an active retiree… so… if my 70 something Aunt abides by the “making time” philosophy, there must be something to it.

Recap: My aunt feels walking is important because she feels better when she does it, and when she misses a day she notices it, that’s why she schedules it.

It has importance, a benefit, and a negative outcome for skipping… hummmmmmmm that kinda sounds like the “consistency” component of sharing via your social media outlets.

Whether it’s blogging, posting to Facebook, or creating an email newsletter… you need to consistently share the great things you’re doing at your business!  If you do not share your business misses the opportunity to communicate…

OK, one more analogy before I finish.  Let’s look at social media like dating.  You have a great time communicating with that new love interest… you talk regularly, then all of a sudden, there’s no more talk?!?!  Then you wonder, what did I do wrong?   OH wait… “ding” then you get an occasional text, phone call, or “interruption” in your day… This leaves you even more confused.  Roll eyes here!  Is this your social media strategy with your customers?  Did you start the relationship with flowers and candy… and now “when you think of it” you quickly create a post telling them all the great things you’re doing at your business…

Yep.

It’s time to “make time” for consistent social media marketing.
