TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 715 – How to Recognize When It’s Time To Take A Break.

Quote: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes…
Including You.”

Wednesday: Midweek Motivation

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  But if it is broke?  You stop right…

What about when your computer has that little blue froot loop circle spinning round and round and round…

You unplug it.

This is a good analogy for YOU.  When you feel like the blue spinning circle you’ve got to stop and unplug.

Trust me.

Everyone needs to unplug.  The easiest way to recognize the need to unplug is when you are trying so hard to get something done, or to accomplish a task that you simply cannot do it.

It’s not easy, it’s not fun, and you’re really frustrated…that’s when you unplug.

Today I want you to recognize a moment when you need to get up and walk it off.  Go outside, take a little stroll.  OR at least get up and change your view.

Going back to what ever task you were working on will be more successful after you “unplug” – and you know it will be great — but often we’re really bad at recognizing when.. so that’s your task…

Recognize when.

Ready… Set… Unplug!  Well, after you finish reading this.

When you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and you just can’t think – you need a break!  Not a break of a 2 week vacation, although that would be amazing… you need a mini-break.

Just get up and clear your head.

Honestly, I think this has a lot to do why we can get lost in our Facebook feed… you know how you find one thing and pretty soon you’ve watched  puppy videos and seen at least 4 minutes of Friends bloopers.  Yeah, you know what I mean.

Then you get mad at yourself for wasting time.

Well, maybe you just needed a moment to “check out” – it’s not that you actually unplugged, but you did take a moment to rest your head…

I still recommend the getting into nature part of life.  Take a walk, breathe, and just reset – but don’t be worried if you get lost in some endless feed of America’s Got Talent… sometimes, just being proud of someone who has amazing talent is what you need for an afternoon break.

Episode #407 – Go For A Walk

“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.”

Are you ready?

If you answered, “yes” – what are you waiting for?

Today, for our Midweek Motivation, we get to figure out what is stopping us.  You see we’ve answered that we’re ready and yet, we can’t quite get “it” going!

I’m glad you’re here for a goal achieving / motivation refresher! Remember the best thing to do is get super specific about what you want… alright, that’s fine.  You’ve got that covered, but you just can’t get “it” together to get going… then what?

I like the chunking it down technique.  When you take the big goal and break it into smaller goals you have a great opportunity to succeed and keep going…

But again, what if you just can’t even get to that smallest chunk?

Then stop.  Get away from the goal all together.  Clear your head!  It’s ok.  You need to take a break… try a 5 minute walk.  If that doesn’t do it… go for an other 5 minutes.  Just get out of your own way so you can get back to the beginning, gain clarity, focus, chunk down and GO GO GO!

PS:  I started writing this post and I was TOTALLY unmotivated… so I did get up and let my dog out and then attacked it!  Trust me… that whole get up and clear your head thing really works.

Episode #152 – The Secret of a Successful Business Owner

What’s your fuel?  The quote I picked today, “Ambition is the path to success. Persistence is the vehicle you drive in.” You’ve got a path and a vehicle, but what makes the vehicle go?  That’s the secret… You need fuel… you need motivation!

It’s not enough to say, here’s my goal and here’s my plan.  You’ve had these discussions with yourself, plan A isn’t going well, so you “pivot” and go with plan C.  It’s just a curve in the road.  You continue to be persistent and chug along.  See… it’s the chug along part.  You continue to chug along.  What makes to chug…?

There are days when you feel less than motivated.  You simply want to stop.  Guess what, it’s OK to want to stop. Your mind just wants a break.  Recognize the difference between not wanting to do something anymore and simply needing a break.

The way to tell the difference is to seek a little downtime.  If your calendar doesn’t allow a full vacation, take a 30 minute one.  Go for a walk.  Unplug your device. Just clear your head.   If you feel better, go to the next step and feed your mind.  Read a book or listen to one.  Your choose, fiction or non-fiction!  But get your head out of the grind.

Do something fun.  For me making money is fun.  That’s my hobby.  So, listing something on ebay, “just because” is fun.  You might paint, clean, or exercise.  Whatever it is, just do it.

When you get so involved in the grind that you feel worn out, recognize that you need a pick-me up!  Check out the article on my site, it just might inspire you.  Most important, realize that it’s “OK” to take a break to refuel!

Episode #135 – Take a Walk. Forget the Door Exists.

We’ve reached that point again.  The point where you need to do something, action must be taken.

You’ve analyzed your options and created a plan of attack, but now there’s one simple yet difficult task ahead…

Open the door.

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately.  It’s been a lot of reading and researching on social media marketing.  I’m in the process of writing a book and back in February I wrote 95 pages.  Then I got to a point where I realized I wasn’t happy with what I wrote.  It was blah and honestly, it wouldn’t help at all.  Here’s the funny thing, it was just like the books I’ve been reading!

So this summer I’ve been working at the marina and implementing systems to help me understand what works and what doesn’t work. I’m going to come to one conclusion, I totally understand why social media is overwhelming for small businesses and I totally understand why it usually looks like a cluster F.

I asked my cousin who is building a Yoga Empire (she’ll laugh at that), but I texted her the question of how much time she would have to devote to social media marketing, she sent me back the full stream laughing emoji.  I didn’t quite understand it until I read one of the books last night… the author suggested that you need to get serious and devote 10 to 15 hours a week to social media marketing.  And that’s when I completely understood the full stream laughing emoji.  BTW, I raise my cousin’s one emoji to three!

I’m in the peak of summer right now, but I think I know where the book will go. So stay tuned.  I’m opening the door.  I see daylight!  You can sign up for my email list here, when it’s ready (and it will be awesome), I’ll drop you a note.

Now back to your door.  What is it that you’ve been planning for a while that you haven’t been able to make a decision about?  I’d say something odd like… “just open it”.  But it’s probably not that simple.  Today, just forget about it.  Go work on something you like about your business.  Do something fun… take your dog for a walk… check here for ideas.  When the time comes, you’ll open the door.

PS: if you love my post, give it a “like”!

Action Step
1- Take a break.  Go do something to refresh your mind.  Take a walk, read a book, watch TV… just stop.  Do something fun.  The door will still be there tomorrow.
