OK so why did I write that at the top of my post?

Apparently… voice search has become an important consideration in your content marketing searching techniques. 

I just read an article that said you should put your key words in the first sentence and in the last sentence and every 150 words along the way… that’s waaaay too much trouble. However, I figured I’d try the first sentence AND tell you another tip at the same time.

Did you see how I wrote the same thing two very different ways?

“What are easy content marketing ideas?”

“easy content marketing ideas”

(HA – maybe I will hit the every 150 words)

Ahhhhh — ok the reason it’s important to include a full question is just incase you shout (in frustration) – “Hey Siri, what are easy content marketing ideas?” — you would do this instead of “Hey Siri easy content marketing ideas” we don’t speak that way… we speak in sentences. 

So what are these content marketing tips?

I also just read a great article about top NEW trends in content marketing.  Now I’m not sure if that’s a searchable term… may I should ask, “what are the top new trends in content marketing for small businesses?”

Now, I’m just entertaining myself.

But here’s what number one was… video.  Yeppers that red record button and speaking – especially live is a critical component to content marketing.

I need to do this.

I enjoy writing articles like this to help you learn content marketing and consistency in posting it to build your Infinity Marketing Machine… and more important your tribe!  After all that consistency in content will build trust and you must have trust to bond the customers and transform into a tribe. 

This apparently, well according to the article, is happening with video!  SO… I will get on board and start creating videos.  Ugh.  But they will be awesome!

OK what else did I learn from this Top New Trends in Content Marketing?  (Ha. did it again)

I learned conversational marketing is HUGE.

This is email… messaging… texting… it’s that feeling of an actual conversation.  It’s exactly what we teach here!  I’m so excited you started visiting me… everyday we have a different topic to the blog.

Today is Content and Consistency.  And today’s article is on content… and the content I’m providing is an article on the Top new trends in content marketing that I found in an article I just read.

But other than the shameless keyword packing… I’m actually teaching you HOW to use this type of content strategy (minus the sarcastic comments) to have an impact at your small business.

Ultimately, I’m teaching you how to create content by giving you a content example that is useful to YOU.

Build your Infinity Marketing Machine and create that tribe through email marketing. Even though email has been around a long time, it’s style has been named a top trend in content marketing… this year! Email marketing is about a hip as it gets AND as a small business, it’s levels the playing field for you.

Do IT.

Finally… the last cool topic I’ll mention is the ability to personalize messaging for your customers. 

This is something that a small business can really utilize.  Imagine if you’re in a blizzard… send out your email of photos of your product in a blizzard instead of the standard photos on a shelf.

If it’s 80 degrees, utilize the hot weather theme to the customers in the heat!

Really match the reality of your customer with your message.

This is the ultimate top trend in content marketing for small businesses that I found… it’s an area where you can excel.

So how did I do?  Did I manage to get my key word phrase of, “What are easy content marketing ideas?” in the article in useful ways?

What is better than going to a restaurant, dining with waitstaff that you already know and having a special holiday experience.

I mentioned this to several people and they all wanted to eat there!  Something is being done right if you need reservations, right?!?

So look at your business and how can you take an ordinary day or holiday normally not celebrated with the business services you offer and how can you get in on the party?

There is a way… just look outside the box.

As you explore your possibilities, just “Think Waffle House” they are already open on a Valentine’s Day – so by adding table cloths and flowers they turn an average day in to a big money small change day!

BTW… I love the Waffle House but I live an entire state away from one so it takes a vacation for me to get there… A couple days ago my husband sent the article to me… This must be the next best thing to going to the Waffle House?  Not quite….  He’s not off the hook that easy and there will be a visit on the next vacation.

Remember back to your dating days… that time when you “put yourself out there” to meet someone to spend the rest of your life with…  maybe it worked, maybe it didn’t.

But why didn’t the date or worse yet… why didn’t the relationship work?

Most excuses come down to trust.  Think about it, if some cheated, spent money on the credit cards without you knowing… both are trust issues.

The funny thing is, as we are developing or Infinity Marketing Machine we have 5 C’s to work with – Credibility, Content, Consistency, Customers, Cash… well, the very first C and every Monday we talk about Credibility.

Credibility is your trustworthiness.  Even when we focus on your status as a Subject Matter Expert – at the base we are still focused on trust.

Your trust with your tribe.

If you have a good leader… you will follow.  If you have a bad leader… you question EVERYTHING.

When you have trust, you have loyalty.

Building trust is the effortless way to loyalty.  But that does not mean building trust is effortless.  It’s actually far from it.

To build trust you must have credibility and often one great way to do this is to receive honors and awards from third party sources.

An excellent opportunity is with your local Chamber of Commerce or your local newspaper that runs a “best of” series each year.  Get customers to vote for you or your business.

Another opportunity is with testimonials.  Now, a testimonial is a little different from a review.  They are typically more positive because you’ve asked a customer for their words.  A review… yikes… that is uncontrollable.  Hopefully good, but sometimes not.  🙂

As you get going with your Monday, think about building trust.

Look at your local paper and Chamber of Commerce and find out what awards you might apply for, and then also ask for testimonials from key customers to use in brochures or on your website.

Both ideas are fantastic avenues to great social proof!

Both are excellent resources for building trust.

And trust is the number one way to loyalty… and loyalty transforms customers to a tribe.

The past couple days I’ve been binge watching videos on Youtube.  The irony it’s been videos of Disney.

I can’t figure out why binge watching is so satisfying.  And by satisfying I mean a love/hate relationship.  You get so sucked in to watching, but then you’re mad at yourself for wasting so much time!

What is it that brings you back?

These videos evoke great memories.  You see… I’ve been to Disney World, probably betwen 80 and 90 times… I’ve lost count.

You’d think that being to Disney so many times that learning something new would be rare… it’s entirely the opposite.

I watch these videos, find new places to go, agree with the blogger’s opinion, relive memories, and imagine my new trip.

Then get mad at myself for wasting time!

Did you see what I just did?

The REASONS I like watching videos about a place that I like to go is because I found a tribe I belong to… I don’t have to talk with the other members.  I just watch video after video after video. I do this because I like the content.

It’s funny to read the comments… “I want to go” “I didn’t know ___” “OH, bring me back” and then response after response with 80+ likes.  It’s amazing engagement.

This is how to build a tribe!

The blog will go to restaurants, hotels, rides, but here’s the hook… Every single post is titles “top 4 best ___”  “5 things you didn’t know about ____” “Cleanest ____”

Now while the vlogs are amazing — it’s the title that grabs you.

Remember this.

You may create the most amazing content for a tribe to bond with – but if the title doesn’t make you open the email or stop to read the post, the content is useless.

Create intriguing titles to form a tribe.

On Christmas Eve my sister said something ironic.. she just sat down at the dining room table and said, “do I have a kid’s chair?” — the chairs at my parents table are kinda squishy and she sunk down… she went on a mini rant which concluded, “I need a phone book”

Even though we have Google on our smart phones… it doesn’t do any good at propping you up at the dinner table!  I mean, what are you going to do… sit on your ipad?

But to you remember the Yellow Pages?

You’d have to decide what your ad would be for an entire year and confirm the design 4 months before it went to publication…

Imagine if you had to plan ahead like this now.

You create a product and “shoot” you missed the phone book deadline, the next time you could get your ad into the book could be 16 months from now.

WOAH

What if you wanted to run an ad right now… you just open Facebook or your email and within 30 minutes you’ve got traffic.

That’s the incredible part of change.

It’s also the part that boggles the mind.

I remember our small phone book ad used to run about $800 a month and that’s pretty similar to a Facebook Ad Campaign… but what about creating a tribe instead.

Tribes are not free… you do put a lot of sweat equity into them with content development and being consistent, but in the above example of running an ad RIGHT NOW – you know that an Infinity Customer has developed trust with you and will pay attention when they open your email.

Phone books were crazy things and they did work… but the phone book can’t beat having a tribe you can send an email to at a moments notice.  Well it can’t beat a tribe except when you need a boost to your dinner chair!

How does a happy customer advertise?  The same way an unhappy customer advertises…

Word of mouth, which is temporary… and reviews that are “permanent”

So how do you get the happy customer to speak… you just need to be outstanding.  I mention this because I’ve never really considered myself an advocate of any business.  But I’ll have to say, I did spontaneously shared my thoughts a few days ago.

If you’ve been following a while I’ve written about my mom.  She had quite an autumn, starting with a broken ankle that just got worse, much worse.

Alright.

She’s STILL in transitional care, but, improving daily!

So how can I possibly be an advocate for a medical service? Well, last week I was walking in the hall of her transitional care facility and saw a woman with worry on her face.  She looked, well, lost.  She was simply looking for a nurse.  Not for herself, and not for a patient, she actually wanted a tour.

Her husband was a prospective resident.

She was searching for a transitional facility for someone she clearly loved and after talking with her spontaneously, I realized that she was dropped into the “great abyss” and has zero time to process the accident her husband had a week ago she was trying to swim in the deep end and knew very little about transitional care.

YIKES.  I was there about 6 weeks ago.

The ironic part was her husband and my mom had nearly the same injury and recovery needs. I know I was meant to run into her.

After talking to her, my dad came out in the hallway and he started talking to her.  Then my mom rolled out in her wheelchair and she started talking to her.  In the mean time I went out to my car and came back indoors.  The difference in the woman’s persona was drastic.  Her fear turned to hope.

Ironically, I ran into her yesterday and her husband was indeed admitted.  She was thankful for the inside knowledge.

And that’s why I’m sharing this with you.

I wasn’t prompted by anyone to talk about my mom’s experience at the facility.  I wanted to share the good news.

This isn’t the only time I’ve run into this “share the good news vibe” about the facility. You see, when I’ve told people about my mom… I’ve learned of four other people that have received medical care as a part of their program.  Everyone has the same glowing response.

AND THEY SHARE IT.

Would I write a review online? Gosh, I’m not sure.  I think it always depends on when you receive the request.  If you’re busy, you forget.

But you ALWAYS talk.

This is the important of a tribe.  I don’t think this care facility knows they have created a tribe and how valuable it is, after all my dad used the facility for his knee replacement a year ago and consistently speaks good words.

So always remember, just because they aren’t writing doesn’t mean they aren’t speaking.

AND remember just because YOU haven’t created a tribe doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

You have a tribe.

Your tribe speaks.

Now it’s time rally it to let it know you appreciate it and start leading

What time did you get up?  Did you make your bed?  What did you have for Breakfast?

These are probably easy questions to answer — and Monday to Friday it’s probably fairly consistent answers…

However, on the weekend or holidays – you may get up later and eat fancier.   Then you feel sluggish and it might be hard to get to sleep for Monday because you woke up late Sunday….

Why is this the case… because you broke pattern.

I love to think about my dog when it comes to consistency.  Often I’ll be working on my computer and without fail, at 10:00 he starts putting his head on my hands so I can no longer type.  To him, when he hears the sound of the TV news, it’s time to go out for potty and then sleepy time.

If this doesn’t happen, he gets very agitated.  Because his habit is broken.

Think of your social media the same way.

You’re not creating content for the heck of it, or to check off some imaginary check list.  You’re creating content to engage and teach your tribe. They want to hear from you.

When you are inconsistent they get agitated like my dog, or they get off pattern like weekend sleep schedules.

Keeping a consistent schedule of information flowing to your tribe is the best way to build trust. They know what and when to expect a message because that’s what you’ve always done!

When you get to basics you’ve got to start with a strong foundation.  The basics of the Infinity Marketing Machine are the 5 C’s.  Credibility, Content, Consistency, Customers & Cash.

The basic of credibility is your own confidence.

Today’s quote is about inner strength and how it projects to your outer foundation… meaning the confidence you project.

I was talking with a family friend that has coached his favorite sport for a long LONG time.  I mentioned that he should start a hockey camp… he had many excuses as to why others were more qualified.

Now it made me laugh.

There is a place for EVERYONE.

When you have expertise, it’s selfish to keep it to yourself.  Really it is.

There will always be someone better than you, more experienced than you, and has more awards.

But you know what… the person in front of you is not looking for THAT person, they are in front of you for some reason.  You attracted them. They were drawn to you.

It’s your job to have confidence in your message and share it.

As for that lack of confidence moment… OH yes, I have it too.  I know what I’m saying is accurate and useful, but I also watch the “big names” and think, why would someone listen to me.

Yet, here you are.  Reading my message.  For some reason you were brought in front of me and for that I’m grateful.

How’s your social campaign doing?  Do you have it scheduled… I mean it’s like an advertising campaign, right…

Wrong.

The fun part about building a tribe is to nurture it.  This is so much different from an advertising campaign.

Advertising campaigns you place ads and look for results.  The best result being an increase in sales.

With a tribe building process you want results.  And you’ll see financial results.  But it’s going to look different from advertising.  You’ll be focused on sending out information that your customers want, and sometimes need without even knowing it.

You are building loyalty that an advertising campaign will never achieve.

The opportunity to turn a customer from “one and done” into an Infinity Customer is a privilege.  You GET the opportunity to talk to them over and over — on a regular basis.

This is when we need to be consistent.

We need to make the commitment to our customer to provide regular content that they want!  This is how we get them to know, like, and trust us!

It’s so much different from advertising…

Just like the quote says, your tribe building efforts are a commitment not a campaign.

What happens if you have a list of email addresses and you send regular specials, notifications, articles, quizzes… you communicate with your email list?  You strengthen your relationship!

What happens of you have a list of email addresses and you do nothing?  If you’re thinking that you don’t develop a relationship, that’s partially true– but it’s worse.  Your effort from collecting email addresses is wasted!  The list dies.  NO communication, just causes the list to wither, shirvle and die.

Don’t let your list go to waste after all your efforts to collect it!

You need to flex your email muscle and repeat your efforts consistently.

The good news is you get to decide when this happens. If you want to write weekly, a couple times a week, or every day — but you need to repeat, repeat, repeat.  Get into the pattern and provide the content your tribe needs!

This repeated action will get you results just like lifting weights!  Annnnd just like lifting weights does not show results instantly… neither does sending one email one time.  BUT, your consistent efforts are rewarded.
