TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 669 – Draw This.

Saturday: Try This

We walked into the store and over in the corner was a neat little activity… there was a real artist creating a unique drawing for a customer.  What a fantastic idea!

Now… adding a professional artist to your store might not be the right idea, but let’s look at why this is a cool idea to try.

The best part of walking into the store was the experience of the artist.  The crowd formed and an energy took over.

Create an experience.

Food demonstrations and DIY crafts are a couple examples to get you thinking… But look at the “next level” of the artist photo… there’s a TV monitor hanging on the wall so you can see the actual creation of the drawing.  THIS is a great way to really bring the event alive.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 663 – Set the Stage

Quote: “To make something special you just have to believe it’s special”

Saturday: Try This!

Look at this idea, it’s totally something you can do.

Set the stage!

When I walked into the hotel room, instead of just having the room service menu on the desk, they thoughtfully positioned it on a clean white tray on the bed.

This little bit of staging helps to make you think “breakfast in bed” which is a perfect product of room service.

This is easy and reusable.  Once you buy the tray, you use it over and over…

Look for ways to make vignettes out of your product.  Whether it’s a display of products or the tray in the hotel… tell a story and evoke an emotion.

Try This!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #506 – Chalkboards are the New Social Media?

Saturday: Try This

Ideas like this make me smile.  The reason I’m so happy with this idea is because of multi-benefit it creates!

It is also super simple!

Get a chalk board… or a dry erase board… or one of those neon boards.

Next, hang it up in your store or your office.

Get into a pattern of writing a “thought of the day”

Finally, post on social media sites.

Here’img_8043.pngs the multi-functional part… You create content, you create content EASILY, your “real world” visitors and staff get the benefit of the positive vibe AND you get the extra mileage of posting online!

You can also do modified version of a “special of the day”… “featured <thing> like a dress, car, dancer” really anything that relates to your business can because your local star of the day!

It’s just a fun idea with so many possibilities.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 500 – Help Someone Find You

“The moon is the first milestone on the road of the stars.” Arthur C Clarke

Saturday: Try This!

Which way are you coming from?

There used to be a time when people would call and ask for directions.  This relied on your staff having to give directions and your customer having to understand the directions.

NOW… “Hey Siri” or a Search gets you where you need to go.  I thought driving was the main source of automated directions, until I saw the new directories at the Mall of America.

Not only do you see where the store is… it has an animated arrow to guide you!

img_5123

It might be impossible to give your customers a guided arrow, however, what can you give them?  Bring someone with you, jump in your car, and film the journey from the main highway to your business.  Get out of the car and film the walk from car, to elevator, to front desk.

Prospective customers will appreciate this!

They are used to Google or Siri… but they can’t be everywhere (yet) – so help your customers find you!  Film the journey.  We did this at the boat yard… super helpful for first time visitors.

I love the inspiration because this “road of stars” is never ending BECAUSE the stars go on and on, LOOK… we have an “Infinity Goal!” We may be at the moon… but we’re gonna just keep going.  Exciting stuff coming soon… watch your email.  (if you haven’t signed up… make sure to join me!)  Thank you again!  #halfwayto1000

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #416 – Look Beyond the Obvious

“Look Beyond the Obvious”

Saturday: Try This!

This is one of my favorite quotes.  It was actually a gift from my 4th grade art teacher, Mr. Henthrone.  He had a beautiful art room with this inspiration across the top of the wall.

The thing I like about the quote is that it’s easy to remember and easy to implement.

So how can you look beyond the obvious at your business?  Well, Saturday is the day we explore “Try This” by taking real world examples from real world businesses and the photo is an example I saw at a hotel I stayed at recently.

It’s Alexa!

The same Alexa you have at home… but this one gives you the opportunity to check out a new, unfamiliar are of the town you are visiting.

For years we’ve stayed in hotels with the same style of 3 ring binder that has area churches, grocery stores, and restaurants… but this hotel took it to a modern search.  They installed Alexa with a list of suggested questions.  It really takes it to the next level!

It’s a fun way to bring a common everyday technology to your business.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Day 47 – Put a Bow On It

One of our customers did something really nice for my crew.  He dropped off a whole bunch of beef jerky.

It was a fun surprise.

Now… even more fun was how my one crew member decided to hand it out.  She took and bundled one big piece with a medium size piece… then put a bow around the middle.

She made it into a gift.

If you’ve ever been around the 16-18 year old male teens… you know that food is devoured.  Well, this turned a “hey look we got beef jerky” into a special event.  It was something they stopped and appreciated.

I wanted to mention this because it reminded me of the Welcome Gift we hand out to our customers.  Last year we rolled our shirts and bundled with a ribbon that we had custom printed.

They looked nice on the shelf and it was a fun way to hand out the gift.

If you’re looking for an easy way to make a big impact… put a bow on it!

Episode #380 – Why You Need to Tell Them How

It’s Saturday… Try This!

A couple thoughts before I begin… First, if you love staying at Disney World, this is going to make you want to go on vacation.  Second, I know, I know… our businesses are not Disney World.

That being said, here’s a video from my recent stay at Disney World.  It’s the TV in the hotel room.

When you turn on the TV it defaults to the Disney Information Screen.  It’s a rotating information board with, as you can see, the time/date/temperature.  It also has the overview on the side for the park hours, then the rotating “in depth” information for each park.

But remember, this is in the hotel room.  Your in room experience gives you all the information you need to “keep you at Disney”.  It’s a closed world marketing experience!

You could find this information on the internet, in a brochure, walking to the front desk, or even showing up at the park… but what is the risk in this?  The risk is distraction.  You turn on your TV and instantly you have the park times!  You know the weather.  It’s pretty amazing when you think about it.  They’re teaching you how to use their product!

So how can you use this??? After all, you’re not Disney World!

Look for areas where you can close the gap in your business’s experience.  For example… ONBOARDING!  When you sell something, make sure your customer knows how to use the “something”.  Call them after they purchase.    The Disney video board is simply “onboarding” for it’s guests.  They are not able to call everyone to let them know the park hours, so instead they made this video service.

However, you can call people!  If you can’t call… email, direct to a video on a website, or provide a brochure.  But follow up.  Make sure they are having a positive experience using your product.  This positive experience helps your Infinity Marketing Machine!

If you rent something, put special information in/on the thing you rent!  If you ship something via an internet sale, don’t forget to include a thank you note!  Ultimately, teach people how to use your services.

This teaching moment gives you a great opportunity to turn the customer into a fan and that results in your tribe.
