ProfitCenterCoach.com – E460 – Five is for Fire

“Storytelling is a powerful communication tool to get your message across.”

Tuesday: Content and Creation

Yesterday our Store Manager said, “Shoot… my assignment is due by 7pm”.  She’s in college… It was 3:00pm.  The assignment was for her Sign Language class.

The goal of the assignment is to take the numbers 1 to 10 and tell a story.  Oh, it had a twist.  The story she needed to create had to associate a word with a similar motion to the number… so it’s like a “one bun” “two shoe” rhyme, but in sign language, the signs look similar so it’s equally as memorable.

She was so stressed, then finally started telling the story of a cute fire fighter.  For example the number 5 is all fingers extended palm facing your nose.  To make the sign for fire you fan your finger in the motion of flames.  The more the story came together, the more excited she got!

Her story taught the numbers and it did it in a fun memorable way.  Her goal was to teach the numbers.  She had a goal and an outcome and she met her deadline.

Did you see what I did?  I told a story.

More important, for your content creation purpose, I taught you that having a goal and an outcome are important for your story.

Goal: teach the numbers in sign language.  Outcome: told a story.

When you want to teach your customers something.  Remember we’re always teaching.  We teach about our products/services.  The best way to teach is through story.

You just learned a creative way to create content via story telling AND you learned how to sign FIRE along with the number 5!

Today: create a post, but use a story.  Come up with your desired goal and outcome and wrap it in a nice little story to teach your customers!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #454 – Are You an Impatient Butterfly?

“Stop rushing the process. Instead, perfect the art.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Question: How do you write what your tribe wants to read?

My Answer: I don’t think you do… I think you write what YOU want to write.  But I do have a mini-formula that will soon reveal itself.

OK, here’s what I mean by writing what YOU want… I think you write from your heart. You write what inspires you and you simply let it flow.  Get the ideas in your head to flow right on the paper (or keyboard) – adopt a mindset that “it’s important to share”.

Now, here’s the deal.  Focus less on the sentence structure and focus more on message.  When that happens you can focus on a title to grab attention. When that happens, you can include a call to action.

You want your readers to do something… but you have to attract them… and in the middle of all that is… your message.  If you skip a step your message gets lost!

Check this out:

  1.  I create a great message and call to action… but the title is bland.  No one reads it.
  2. I create a great title and message… but no call to action.  It’s read and forgotten.
  3. I create a great title and great call to action… but fluffy message. You lose credibility.

When you change your mindset to creating posts that are helpful and appreciated by your tribe all you have to do is: create a title to attract, create a message that’s useful, and create a call to action to help them.

That’s it.
Easy.

Your map to creating a “perfect” post is simple.  But this does not mean you can rush the process, after all, it is an art.  If we’re impatient, we only have caterpillars.  The world needs beautiful butterflies, not impatient ones.

Take a moment, use this mini-formula, and write one great post… TODAY! Use my Title, Message, Call to Action formula — and don’t forget the hashtag #doinginfinity

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode #448 – Show Your Inner Rockstar

“Traditional marketing is telling the world you’re a rockstar. Content marketing is showing the world you are.” RRose

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Yesterday I chatted a little bit about serving your followers. Today we’re going to dig a little deeper.

Providing content can seem like a daunting activity.  At times you may say something like “I have to write my blog” and then you correct yourself, “I get to write my blog”.  That way you take the drudgery out of it.  (Words mean things… haha)

BUT…

Reread today’s inspiration.

“Traditional marketing is telling the world you’re a rockstar.
Content marketing is showing the world you are.” RRose

Content now fulfills a very important role.  Content becomes your proof.

This can be a review, testimonial, web page, photo, third party article… it can be anything.  But most of all, it exists.

You may be struggling because you “have” to write something… but when you switch your thinking to, I “GET” to write something and you view this “something” as your social proof, you have purpose!  Content is your ability to communicate with your customers in a way that was once only dreamed of…

YES! Dreamed of!

Right now… I mean right now, you can open up Facebook and communicate LIVE with the world.  This was a privilege once reserved just for major TV networks that could access satellites!  But right now, you can do this… FOR FREE.

And you’re not????  Isn’t that odd.

Hint:  Add LIVE to your list of really cool content creator tools!  It’s a great way to provide useful content for your tribe.

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 442 – Cross the Bridge!

“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

I love motivational quotes.  I think when you find a good one it can turn your day around.

Actually, it can turn around your entire path!

Today’s is a great quote… let’s read again, “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”

On the surface you learn to be hard working and not take short cuts.

Well don’t take a short cut to “any place worth going”.  Hummmm.  Let me tell you something… there’s a great restaurant in Australia on the “other side” of the bridge.  It’s an amazing little breakfast spot…right next to the Sydney Harbor Bridge!

NOW… there’s also a great little restaurant in Wooloomooloo that’s on the “other… other side” of the bridge.  So if both are worth going to, and there’s a bridge, is the quote saying, you should go to both, but don’t take the short cut of the bridge.  You should swim?  I mean that’s the true “non short cut” way to get to both restaurants, after all, taking a boat or ferry is a short cut, right?!?!

SO, what on earth does this have to do with content and consistency?

Sometimes amazing content is stuff written by someone else!  You can share a link to an article written by someone else.  It’s a short cut, but it still puts your tribe first IF the content is amazing and something they find useful.

Same holds true for a video!

Same for a photo or an infographic!

Don’t get stuck in the mindset that the only way to create amazing content is by putting your nose to the grind and authoring every piece you share.  It’s OK to share things other people have created, especially “things” your tribe would find awesome.

Last week I was “wasting” time on Facebook and there was a great video of the three members of team USA for baton twirling doing a trick called an “elbow pop” – basically you pop the baton off your elbow, over and over and over!  They are not easy, they hurt, you bruise yourself, but they look super duper easy!  BUT THEY’RE NOT!

Alright, the 3 ladies posted a video goofing off with the “elbow pop” in slow motion… I re-posted on my Facebook Baton Page… and it was shared by my followers 25 times!  It received over 19,000 views.

I did not create the video – I simply shared it.   In essence, this was my “short cut” to content creation, my bridge!  The word “creation” has a very big spectrum in regards to online content.

REMEMBER, content creation is information your tribe will appreciate, engage with, and thrive from receiving.

YES, you still need a schedule to post consistently – but relax and don’t look at it as cheating if you “share” something someone else created.

A word of caution… do not use this method as a substitution for your own creation, but, don’t be afraid of a “short cut” now and again!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 436 – Bond With Your Customers!

“Consistency over time is trust”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Our goal in creating an Infinity Marketing Machine is to transform your customers from “one and done” into “Infinity” customers.

While you might have some customers that love your business.  Love it so much they are your strongest advocates.  They show this by “liking” your posts on Facebook, etc.

But what else do they do?

Do they share your posts, do they pass along your “friends and family” emails, do they refer people to you?

How much trust does it take to share a post?  Not as much as to provide a referral!

When you get your customers buying from you AND then they’re willing to tell a friend to also do business with you, that’s a big deal.  The reason it’s a big deal is because it’s their PERSONAL REPUTATION on the line… for you!

This is the ultimate trust.

How do you get this type of trust?  You build a relationship through consistent interaction.  The interactions are not necessarily face to face – they can be letters, phone calls, and even social media.

But your ability to communicate with your customers and stay in touch means a great deal to your customers.  It shows you are interested in them.

Just like your personal friendships, when you show interest you build trust. It’s the same concept in your business.  However, when you build this trust in business you get the bonus of more sales!  That’s why it’s important to maintain a consistent content schedule with your customers to keep them connected to you and to help you transform a group of followers into a loyal tribe!

I have tested this and found great success with our once a week eNewsletter.  It’s a simple one page flier that contains the weekend happenings around our lake.  In fact, I had someone mention it today! He said, “I love it… but my wife prints it out for me…. I can’t figure out the computer thing.”

Crazy… we’ve built a loyal bond via email with someone that can’t use a computer!

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 430 – My Top 5 Go-To’s For Content Creation When You Can’t Think of Anything to Post

“It’s easy to make good decisions when there are no bad options.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

So you woke up and you feel like… “I need to post something” – “I guess it’s just time to chat a little with my tribe.”

Remember, our goal is not to “post for the heck of posting”.  Our goal is to provide useful information that our tribe craves.

But this does get hard at times…

The type of information you strive to create is relevant and it elevates your status as a Subject Matter Expert.

SO what the heck?  How do I do this… It sure seems like a lot of pressure!

Well, it’s not that bad – let’s review “My Top 5 Go-To’s For Content Creation When You Can’t Think of Anything to Post” that provide a frame work that you can utilize to give your tribe that information they crave!

Yes… it is this easy.

My Top 5 Go-To’s For Content Creation When You Can’t Think of Anything to Post

  1. Create an FAQ list!  Just come up with a top three questions you’re asked and list them with the answers!  It’s definitely information your tribe wants because… well… they’re already asking you for it!
  2. Behind the Scenes:  Is there some sort of “sneak peek” you can give your tribe?  Maybe it’s a shipment of “stuff” that arrived and you can open the boxes on a video… how about explaining how you make something… really, the things that seem mundane to you are only mundane because you do it ALL THE TIME… it’s new, fresh, and unique to your tribe!
  3. Inspirational Quotes: hummmm… notice anyone that uses this idea?  OH yes, it’s my go-to!  I really enjoy inspirational quotes, they motivate me… that means I’m able to write with a focus and share a message.  Give it a try!
  4. Challenges:  Give your audience a challenge.  For example, you could run a volunteer drive OR you could even just challenge them to use your services.  Imagine owning a gym… challenge to visit 5 times a week!  If you are at a marina… provide the forecast and challenge to take a beautiful photo you can share (you even get a whole series of posts when they share!)
  5. Announcements:  Is there a special coming up?  How about a holiday? Maybe a community event… use the opportunity to give your tribe a unique angle on a local town event or your personal business event!

There you have it, print this out and keep it by your desk – when you’re “lost” for what to post, don’t provide something dumb.  Instead, go to your “go to” list and find a framework that allows you to share some useful information your tribe will appreciate!

Tomorrow it’s midweek motivation!  Come back and be inspired!  PS:  Like my vibe? Join my tribe! start here

ProfitCenterCoach.com – Episode 424 – Be a Wish Maker Content Provider.

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” Albert Einstein

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Have you ever looked at your lawn only to see a bunch of dandelions… and you just spent a bunch of time and money spraying weed killer?  Ugh. The total frustration!

Well…

Think about a dandelion, it’s easily recognizable, you know you hate it.  But do you remember as a child picking a bouquet of them and putting them in water?  How many times do you remember making a wish and blowing the puffy white seeds into the sky (and your lawn)?  This is one tricky weed.  We hate it, and yet there’s a certain romanticism associated with it.

It sure does have a great story associated with it!

When you create content for your followers, you should think of it like a dandelion, not the weed… but the wish!  You want people to see your article or post as useful.

Sure, children pick the yellow “flowers” but when the “flower” transforms into the wish-maker game, it’s hard to resist, because it’s valuable!

If you woke up today, thought… ugh, I should post something… then got distracted and read my blog (thank you for reading) – NOW you have a purpose to your “post something” problem.

Quit striving to simply be successful in “posting”.  Instead strive to create a post of value.  Tell your followers how to do something, teach them a new “thing”, create an FAQ list, give them a top 3… but do something that they will find valuable.

Today, be the “wish maker” portion of the dandelion!

If my blog is giving you ideas… that’s super cool, for sure join my group for more!  start here
