TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 830 – Why You Need to Make a Commitment

Tribeology: Learn It. Do It. Profit. Decide who you want to work with, attract them, and sell them things they want to buy! It really is that simple.

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Quote: “Content Marketing is a Commitment not a Campaign” – Jon Buscall

How’s your social campaign doing?  Do you have it scheduled… I mean it’s like an advertising campaign, right…

Wrong.

The fun part about building a tribe is to nurture it.  This is so much different from an advertising campaign.

Advertising campaigns you place ads and look for results.  The best result being an increase in sales.

With a tribe building process you want results.  And you’ll see financial results.  But it’s going to look different from advertising.  You’ll be focused on sending out information that your customers want, and sometimes need without even knowing it.

You are building loyalty that an advertising campaign will never achieve.

The opportunity to turn a customer from “one and done” into an Infinity Customer is a privilege.  You GET the opportunity to talk to them over and over — on a regular basis.

This is when we need to be consistent.

We need to make the commitment to our customer to provide regular content that they want!  This is how we get them to know, like, and trust us!

It’s so much different from advertising…

Just like the quote says, your tribe building efforts are a commitment not a campaign.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 824 – One Easy Tip to Create Valuable Content for Your Customers

Tribeology: Learn It. Do It. Profit. Decide who you want to work with, attract them, and sell them things they want to buy! It really is that simple.

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Quote: “Hypothetical questions get hypothetical answers.” ~Joan Baez

“Is the water wet fluffy?”asked the flirty girl of our captain on the scuba charter.  The captain was more interested in the fish… so it was kinda nauseating.

Then flirty girl said, “I have a real question, this time.”

This just makes you ponder… what questions do your customers have?

And the answer is… lots and lots of questions.  But more important than the questions, are the answers!  And anticipating what question they are REALLY asking.

Sure… answer the question asked, but go one step further and answer the follow up… for example, I’m regularly asked what times someone can use their boat if it’s being stored in our warehouse.

What the customer is REALLY asking is “what the heck do I do with my boat if I come back and you’re closed?”

The important goal of content is to give your customer what they want at the right time.  This is the ideal purpose of an FAQ list.  It’s not a set of hypothetical questions.  Create a list of questions that you are actually asked…. answer them, and then answer the follow up questions.

Really make your list valuable — then you can use it as a “home base” for future social media posts — you can make a special “top questions” series that link back to the page.

It’s a great way to make content that is useful AND ongoing!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 812 – Don’t Forget the Batteries!

Quote: Ideas can be life-changing. Sometimes all you need to open the door is just one more good idea. ~Jim Rohn

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Much of my energy in writing this blog is to help you find your reason “why” to share content.

The reason I focus on this is because when you’re sitting at your desk, alone, with orders, bills, and other things… it’s hard to carve out time to write a post.  You know you should, but it’s also easier to not do it.

Right?!

So one good reason to provide content your customers like… and make it rewarding for you is to understand that sometimes, the information you provide can help the reader make a decision that changes their path in life.  I’m not going to say “change their life” that’s a little far reaching, although it can happen…

But your business is in operation to serve.  Even if you think “it’s just a gift store – this is a little dramatic” – hear me out.

Let’s use the gift store example.  Someone walks into your gift store and buys a baby gift – you are serving them.  They are buying the gift as a memento of their personality to share their thoughts.  You are serving them, especially if you make it convenient by gift wrapping OR suggesting other items (like batteries) – as small as this may be… it’s a big deal that you care.  Have you ever bought a gift or received one and not had the proper batteries. OH so Frustrating!

Back to content.

It can do the same thing as remembering the batteries.

My fall back example is typically potty training.  You have a tired parent at 3am searching for the best (or any) idea to get their kid to stop wetting the bed… they come across your article and info product… you are serving them.  Your ONE good idea can change their journey!

Kind words in a post… a reminder of events this weekend… even your sale.  This all serves your customer!  It’s important to share your knowledge, even when you’re tired, or think the info is not important…

Have you ever been flipping through your social media feed only to get distracted by one post that makes you cry, laugh, or think?

YES!

This is the reason you are providing content.

You are not here to go through a check list… your here to serve!

Today try keeping this mindset as you make the most amazing content filled post you can… imagine the reader and their reaction.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode #805 – Here’s How You Have Hard Work AND Cheating

Quote: “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard!” – Tim Notke

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Do you hate that person who just seems to have everything come to them so easy?

OH I do!

A favorite example is when you’re in school and you study, and study, AND study for the test, while some “smarty pants” says, “OH I didn’t even crack a book” and they get an “A” and you get a “C”.

SO so SO frustrating!

But here’s the deal… your ability to work hard will overcome someone’s talent if they don’t apply it!

This is never more true than when you create content.  Your ability to keep creating new content, and do it consistently will overcome a competitor’s voice.  Even if they have more degrees, experience, etc…

Your ability to flood the market and get people to discover “your stuff” is huge!  And the reason is, when you take the time and effort to share “the stuff between your ears” you become the expert.

Here couple great ideas to get you rolling on the content machine

1- Faq list – take 10 minutes to write down every question you’ve ever been asked by customers… write them in a massive list online – AND answer them.  Just do this – it’s super duper helpful.

2- Answer the questions in your FAQ with a series.  Again, do this online for your website, for example if someone asks, “What are the top 10 motivational gifts for Entrepreneurs” – answer the FAQ with your ideas.  BUT then… develop 10 pages of content, each page features one gift idea!  THEN, post a 10 day series on Facebook and link back to each page you created — it’s a great idea!

(I just thought of this one because I rebranded my online store and added a section called “The Entrepreneur In Me Says…” – full of motivational gift ideas.

3- Create a FREE download — remember that top 10 list… OMG – why not trade it for an email address and build your list.  (Note to self… do this!)

This may seem redundant… to create a FAQ, then to create an individual page for each item, then to create a download… but they all serve different purposes.  They are also all searched differently with the Google Machine…

It’s also nice to have these pages ready to go so when you’re a little burned out you can “instantly” have content to link to… Is that cheating?  Kinda… but we all need a little break! Right?!

Today – create your FAQ Page!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 800 – Want a Positive Result?

Quote: “Positive Vibe Alert”

Tuesday: Content & Consistency

FIRST:  This is post 800.  OMG!  Thank you for joining me on this journey.  What started as a forced habit has turned into 799 completed posts — This is 800 so I’m not claiming it yet.

NOW… just so you know we’re on the right day — it’s not motivation day — I picked “good vibes” because it’s all about the tribe… I found the following quote, but it was Waaaaay too hard to put on a small square so I picked “Positive Vibe Alert”

Here’s the Alt-quote for today!

Alt Quote: “The most important thing in creating content is to know the need of your audience and what can affect them positively.”

Be positive.

When attracting someone to you or better yet… when attracting a tribe to you… do so by having amazingly positive vibes!

Quite frankly, it’s easy to be negative.  You can complain and put a post out there that is a complete “debbie downer” and you are going to get people to chime in with your little pitty party.

Guess What?

It gets very old. Very fast.

What never gets old or tired is to share good news, give credit to the right people, and in general to be positive.

Read your last 10 posts and see what your vibe is… is it positive? Is it healthy? When you read it do you want to be around you?

If you don’t want to be around you… here’s secret, no one else does either!

Worse yet… if you’re negative, imagine what comes out of the wood work to hang out with you?  yukkkkkk

Today’s alt-quote is a great reminder to our tribe building efforts.

Provide your tribe with the information they NEED in a positive way.

Today – I’m helping my tribe (you) remember that when you write for YOUR tribe that you craft the messages to be positive need to know info – and in turn I’m doing this with my tribe (you) by sharing the bigger impact that when you are positive, positive people will be attracted to YOU!

You are in total control of who is in your tribe… if you want positive people, give them the info they need in the most positive message you can, and success will follow!

NOW… 800 complete blog posts are done.  YEAAAA! (Thank you)

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 794 – Feel Dumb Asking Questions?

Quote: “Content is the reason search began in the first place”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

What the heck are we doing?  You sit down to write a post… it could be your Facebook post, a blog – maybe you’re not writing – but you’re counting down 3…2…1!

You have this nagging feeling to “make content” because you “HAVE TO” — and there you are “making” content.

It’s not fun. It’s annoying. And it’s a chore.

Sound familiar?

OH, I’ve been there.

But now look at today’s quote: “Content is the reason search began in the first place” — how silly is this?  It’s easy to comprehend.  And easy to think back to when you first used the internet.

I’m going to say I used Netscape as my very first exposure to the internet.  OK, my VERY first exposure was Gopher…  wait… no I think my actual first exposure was in 5th grade.  Our elementary school had this old thing that looked like a typewriter that was hooked up to some computer at the University – I don’t know… but it makes Netscape look pretty awesome.

Actually… Netscape was pretty awesome!

I remember asking the gal that showed me how to use the internet, “what do you do with this?”

She said, “Search for something!”  I’m like “what do I search for?”

She said, rather annoyed… “Anything”

Ugh.  The very first website I visited was the University of Minnesota’s — I happened to be working at the U at the time…

I was hooked!

This was the coolest thing I ever saw… it was full of… um… CONTENT.

I searched and then I found answers.  Answers to things I didn’t even know I needed answers to.

This is what we all need to strive for as we “force” ourselves to write content.

Share things that seem super mundane to you because to someone brand new to you or your site they might not be so ordinary.  After all, aren’t there questions you love to have answered but sometimes you’re afraid of feeling “dumb” by asking?  Right???? So answer them for your tribe.

Get out there today – make a list of 10 of the most basic questions you feel like you’re asked and answer them on your website — post the question and the answer — now… the fun part will be – create a series of 10 posts on Facebook or Instagram where you introduce the question and answer as your topic… go one step further and link back to the answers on your website.

It’s a great way to prompt your followers to ask even more questions!
