TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 776 – Make Your Content Last

Quote: “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Are you working hard?  We all like to think we work hard… but here’s a scoop. You’ve got to work harder.

I’m not talking about your physical output today.

I’m talking about your planning for tomorrow.  And this is a biggie… if you spend your time creating posts and throwing them on Facebook will people find them next week.

Nope.

People don’t look on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram for information they seek.

Start spending time on your website!

Yes… I’m a strong supporter of email for your social side.  However, think about this.

Create a webpage about your product — then send an email that links to it.  You get the benefit of the email to your list AND you get the benefit of adding content to your website.

This is a fantastic way to work harder.  You put your efforts into the never ending content storage facility that is your website.

For example, let’s say you have a jewelry store.  This weekend is the local festival and you will be having a sale.  You’ll easily create a post to welcome people to your store for the sale…

BUT

What if you create a page on your site that talks about the festival.  People that shop at your store also like the festival and they like that YOU like the festival. Now when you write the post about your sale – you link to the page you created about the festival.  It’s a win-win.

Now here’s the fun part — this page about the festival becomes a searchable part of your website and it’s always there – anytime you mention the festival – you have a “ready to go” page about it!

Sure it’s “harder” to make the page about the festival – but it’s a FANTASTIC use of your time.

So today, make a list of 20 topics to create pages for – anything from safety or gift ideas, to festivals and your business history – just create the list and write!

Have fun with this content booster.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 769 – What Does Your Tribe Need?

Quote: “If you’re waiting around to make the perfect content, you’ll be waiting around forever”

Tuesday: Content & Consistency

Are you stuck?  Have you convinced yourself that you’ve “got nothing to write” or “I’m burned out”

HA

Today’s quote spoke to me… I’m sure it’s tough to be a perfectionist, I’m far from one… but I do know this.

How do I know this?

Just read any post I’ve ever written. There are spelling errors, grammatical errors… the list goes on and on (no need to point them out, I know they’re there!)  But, the thing is… if I waited until it was perfect I would never press “publish”.

If I waited until it was perfect I would be scared to death to ever press “publish” and you know the problem with that…?  The problem is YOU would never get to read what I have to say… and that’s wrong.

The content you provide is a gift.  It’s an amazing gift for your tribe.  The moment you convince yourself “I’ve got nothing to write” that’s the moment you need to stop, sit, and reevaluate your leadership.  You are the leader and your tribe needs you…so what information do they need right now?

When you answer that question you’ll have plenty to write about!

Stop worrying about perfection, and start focusing on the needs of your tribe.

Today – create a post that your tribe needs!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 763 – No Short Cuts Here…

Quote: “There is no such thing as Shortcut when it comes to Success.”

Tuesday: Content & Consistency

How do I make more money at my small business?  Great question.  One way is by creating an email list and selling them things they want.

Sounds great, right?

Yes it does… and yes it works!

But let’s look at today’s quote: There’s no such thing as a shortcut when it comes to success.”

BOOM.

Yes… it’s simple to create a list.  But the selling things they want is a little more complicated – and I don’t mean the picking of the products.  I mean the consistency and long haul you need to create a community.

You see the list is the beginning.

The list is a tool.  It’s the way… but it’s not the end.  You need to provide consistent content that the group desires.  Your content is the thing they crave. It’s the reason they come back, a.k.a. open your emails.

There’s no point to collecting emails if you contact the customers only when you want to sell something.

It’s OK to contact them when you want to sell something… and you should… it’s just that you should also make polite small talk with them on a consistent basis.

The small talk is the key.  Give them cool ideas and encouragement to engage with you!

This is how you will achieve success.  The method of the Infinity Marketing Machine is simple but it is not without effort.  However, when you put the effort in, you will be rewarded.

And it’s fun!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 757 – The Reason Building a Tribe is the Easiest Form of Social Media Marketing

Quote: “The more we value things outside our control, the less control we have.” – Epictetus

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

Are you tired of trying to understand social media posting?  Like you hear things like “post twice a day on instagram” or “you need to post daily on Facebook but when you do this you need to have one piece of content that is a video”  OR you need a social presence on all platforms…

UGHHHHH

It’s enough to make you quit!

Then I came across today’s quote and it ‘s totally applicable to your social media plan.

OK , did you catch the last word?

PLAN

You need a plan and then you can jump into your social media.

But back to the quote… it’s when you value things out of your control the less control you’ll have….

This means if you value all things social media and run toward every “shiny new thing” you’ll spin out of control and that will make you feel like you’re totally out of control

AND you’ll quit.

Don’t quit.

Tuesday is the day we chat about Content & Consistency.

This is the CORE of the Infinity Marketing Machine.

Remember… the whole reason we’re here is to build a tribe.  A tribe of loyal customers that have transformed from “one and done” to “infinity buyers” this gives us the option to offer items for sale to a group that “knows likes and trusts us” – and this converts to money.

BUT

The only way to have this type of resource, meaning the only way to have a tribe, is to entertain them with information they want!

And that’s your content.

Entertain them with useful information that bonds them to you!  Stuff they want, stuff they need, and stuff they don’t know they need but you know they need it.

Next…

You need to provide this information at regular intervals… think of the 10:00 news.  If you tuned in to your TV to watch the news and the 10:00 news started at 8:45pm – you’d be confused, even angry…. what about if you had to wait until 10:22 it would annoy you!

Consistency is important to build the trust and loyalty part of the Infinity Marketing Machine…

Now the cool thing is, Content and Consistency are two aspects of social media that are 100% in your control.  You decide what to share AND you decide when to share it.

This makes social media – building a tribe – and email marketing the easiest type of social media opportunity out there!

But you’ve got to start…

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 745 – Who Are You Creating Content For?

Quote: “You are not trying to be everything to everyone. You have your niche, your clear and ideal customer. You’re crafting content for them.”

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

If you’re “stuck” and having trouble with your content direction… ask yourself, “Who am I creating content for?”

If you say my tribe… or my customers… or people.

You need to reevaluate your targets and goals!

Content is best created for  your ideal customer.  Think of that one person you want to attract, or maybe that one customer you want to repel.

Sheeh — yes, this works in the reverse too.  The person you can’t stand is obviously picking you for a reason – figure out what it is that is attracting them and RUN!  Do something that stops that invitation.

Alright back to the ideal customer.

Think of that perfect customer.  The one that pays you on time. The one that orders products and services from you. The one that makes your live enjoyable and profitable.

Now imagine you had 20 of those people to work with!  What a joy.

Write down the characteristics of this person… is it a man/woman, age, schooling, hobbies, likes, dislikes, height/weight, etc… just keep going and get specific.

NOW.  Think of this person and answer the question “What content am I going to create?”

If you have your ideal customer in mind… the answer to this question becomes easy!

Now go, do this exercise.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 738 – Why You Need to Do Exciting Things…

Quote: “Either write something worth reading or do something worth reading about” Benjamin Franklin

Tuesday: Content and Consistency

There’s just something about the writings of Benjamin Franklin.  It makes me marvel thinking that 200 years ago the words were uttered.  How crazy would it be if you said something worth repeating 200 years later… cool.

Alrightie, but what does this have to do with Content and Consistency?

I was having the hardest time coming up with a post today — the topic just wasn’t speaking to me.  I was searching but nothing seemed “fun” then I found today’s quote and it totally spoke to me.

When you simply can’t find something to write about – maybe you need to do something worth reading about.

My problem over the last week is that I’ve been completely distracted and haven’t fed my head with anything creative!  To share information with others, you must do things yourself.

When you’re stuck and trying to figure out what to write for your followers… DO SOMETHING.  Clear your head and find something exciting that you can experience so your writing is worth reading!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 733 – Is this a Plain or Chocolate Milk Moment?

Quote: “Success takes two things consistency and dedication.”

Tuesday: Content & Consistency

Imagine if it were 8:00pm and you needed milk… you get up from watching TV, hop in the car, drive to the convenience store and they’re closed.

You’d be mad, disappointed, and confused.

You want milk!  It’s only 8pm – why are they closed, it’s an unwritten rule that the convenience store is open until 11pm.  Sometimes they’re open all night – but they NEVER close at 8pm.

UGHHHH

Why is this so strange?  Part of it is because we’re all motivated by “the self” and all you want is milk… but the other part that’s so strange is that it’s not consistent.

You don’t call or look up hours because convenience stores are just open.

This of your blog or posting schedule the same way.  If you “always” post in the afternoon, but then you miss that deadline and post in the late evening – it’s the equivalent of a closed convenience store.

People want their milk… they don’t want to drive and find the store closed.

Make sure you are open and giving your followers what you expect.

The same goes with content — you need to come up with a consistent message, look, and vibe.  Imagine arriving to the convenience store and the entire case was full of Chocolate milk… rows and rows of chocolate milk.

You need this milk for your cereal… and chocolate milk would be gross!

UGHHH the store is open but chocolate milk is disappointing and confusing you!

Same goes for your blog… If you are a light happy topic generating blog… and throw in a gloomy dark and cryptic post – you’re going to confuse the heck of your readers.

SOOOOOOOO

You need to be dedicated and consistent.  You need to be open AND sell what your customers want.  When in doubt, and wondering if you should post it… ask is this a plain milk or a chocolate milk moment?
