TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 716 – What Do Tariffs and Profit Centers Have to Do with Each Other?

Two days two interesting conversations.   Yesterday, a woman asked the question… if tariff’s go up what happens to my prices?  Today I chatted with a different woman about the advantages of an Infinity Product.

How are these two conversations related?  Because you need to be ready for anything.

My first convo about tariffs… here’s the deal, you can’t be so wrapped up in one profit center that things out of your control could destroy you… this also means weather, social media changes, tax changes, consumer preferences.

Don’t believe me on consumer preferences… I have a set of rhinestone stickers that go on the bottom of shoes for a wedding… one set says “I Do” the other set says “Me Too”… interesting.

Alright, so how do you combat tarriffs or taxes… you need to spread your risk.  Think of a convenience store attached to a repair facility.  Each function has a different purpose, if it’s raining and no one is using the car wash, people will buy gasoline and stop inside for milk.  It may seem like a tiny thing, but regardless of weather there is something they can sell.

You need to do this too.

Regardless of X you need to make money.

Then there’s today’s conversation – it’s the infinity product convo. I was explaining that every business needs an infinity product… that regardless of what business you have, you need the product that consistently produces itself without lots of effort.

This could be a heat press that you use to create T shirts, a gym membership to your exercise equipment, or even a digital book that you sell online.

What ever it happens to be, add it.  This will also help you develop another revenue stream to… again spread your risk for things you can’t control!

So yes, profit centers and tariff’s go together quite nicely.

Today – figure out which profit centers you have and ask how they help to spread your risk!  Then think about what infinity product as a profit center you can add to again, help spread your risk.

If you don’t like sales… if you don’t like going up to someone and saying “buy this” – how about a new approach.  This is what is fun about the Infinity Marketing Machine.

Making the decision to build a tribe and then finding products to offer them turns your efforts from “one and done” into “infinity”.

The “one and done” effort is your traditional sales.  This is when you ask someone to buy something… and by “ask” I mean, you have something for sale, whether your ask is by actually talking or it’s simply the process of writing text… it’s still a transaction based relationship.  It’s “one and done”

This is how “infinity” is much different.

When you transform to collecting and maintaining a list of people that you bond ou all of a sudden become the leader that shares knowledge and offers products you know your tribe wll want.

This is marketing and it’s marketing that doesn’t feel like marketing.  It feels more like relationship marketing. You develop the relationship with the intention of “infinity” and you keep going.

This is best done by offering content that is appreciated by your tribe and you do this on a regular basis.

Today I have sent out my newsletter to my Pontoon Girls – and I’ve created this blog for my Tribeologists.  I’m offering you content that is useful without it actually feeling like a post… it’s giving you information that is useful, helps you bond with me, and teaches you how to utilize the skill to your advantage with your tribe…

Pretty cool, eh?

The cliche “a picture is worth 1,000 words” is actually pretty reliable in your social media posts.

Picking a great photo that tells a story can increase your engagement and affect your sales.

It effects it when your reader can put themselves in the photo.

Now…I have a fluffy white goldendoodle.

Yet… some how this photo spoke to me – so much so that I stopped scrolling and decided to write a blog post about it.

I love it because I can imagine my dog, in the water, swimming around, warm weather, playing with tennis balls.

My dog does swim.  But he’s big and fuzzy.  So it’s difficult to let him swim because I have to dry him, clean his ears, and make sure that his hair is combed.

But this photo makes me happy.  I can think of him swimming while I’m at work.  I think of him having a great time, AND I think about someone else drying him and cleaning his ears.

The funny thing is, the writing doesn’t say, we clean their ears, dry them, so you don’t feel guilty.

But all of this happens with a photo!

The photos you pick are valuable, they will increase your sales but you need to pick emotional photos.

Spend time picking photos that draw an emotion!

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 704 – Crazy Break Up Girlfriend

Today’s quote makes me wonder if I’m dumb.

OR

If I’m in a cranky mood.

Because I hear the quotes like, “the customer is always right” and I think that’s absurd.

Then I was searching for a quote for today and I came across

Quote A: “If we don’t take care of our customers, someone else will.”

Followed by

Quote B: “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.”

Here’s the deal. You can’t make someone like you.  And this is where I think I’m either really dumb or really smart.

Why?

I have one customer that is awful.  And if you want to use a dating analogy… she’s turned into the crazy break up girlfriend that won’t go away.  “Oh I left my sweater, even though it’s 80 outside” – “Oh I ordered the water that is dry”

Just insane.

It brings me to Quote B… “If we don’t take care of our customers, someone else will.”  This person leaves me saying, please… please… someone else take care of her.

Again, I don’t think that’s the intent of the quote, but that is the message that spoke to me.

That’s why when I saw Quote B,

“Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning”… yeah, they really are… but once again my take is a little different.

Because…

YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORK WITH EVERYONE

This is your take away from Quote B… learn to attract customers you WANT to work with or you will end up with crazy “bad break up girl” customers.

How do you attract customers you want to work with?

Create your ideal avatar of the perfect world customer, figure out where they hang out, and attract them!

I know this might sound a little “customer prevention department” and honestly it is… but put yourself out of your misery!

My concept of the Infinity Customer is to create an environment that nurtures a relationship for long term journey… do you want crazy “break up girl” on your long term journey?  OMG… NO!

That brings us full circle.

Today’s Quote: “The thing about smart people is they sound crazy to dumb people”  So I’m not sure if I’m dumb and should believe the actual spoken words of Quotes A and B because they sound absolutely absurd to me… OR if I’m smart and other people look at me like I’m dumb because I go with the hidden message of quotes A and B.

Spend your time like you keep it in a bank account – it’s one of my favorite concepts to share. When you value that time and realize everyone has the same amount… it starts to make you think… there are only 24 hours, so everyone has the exact same amount of time!

That must mean some people are better at managing time.

Well, today is our “Content and Consistency” Day – so let’s explore how we can budget our time a little more effectively regarding content.

When you prepare content for your tribe, start to create content you can use in multiple areas.

For example… let’s say you write a blog that is your “Top 5 Fun Facts” about your business.  This would make a fantastic piece for your customers to get you know your business a little better.

BOOM

You’re done.

Next Post.

WAAAAIT… You just did a Top 5 list.

Well, wouldn’t it be natural to make 5 individual graphics, each with one of the “Top 5” fun facts?  How cool would that be?!

This would give you 5 more posts… you can even link back to the original blog post.

Now the fun comes when you take the 5 social graphics and make them into a slideshow video that also links back to your original posts.

And guess what… your customers won’t remember seeing the post in 90 days, that  means you can re-post it.  And again, link back to it.

So that’s the goal – create your post, but make evergreen links for the post.

Yes you do want to make timely posts about what’s going on in your current day, but evergreen posts can be extremely useful, cost effective, and time efficient.
