The Infinity Marketing Machine is based on a 5C pillar system of Credibility, Content, Consistency, Customers, and Cash.  That’s why I’ve chosen this blog to spend each day on a different “C”.

But you know what’s fun…

When I find a quote that says something very similar… and that’s today’s topic for credibility!

Money is not cash… it’s the “THING” that makes trading two wants equal.  It would be hard to be a dancer that wants gum from the convenience store and find a store owner that appreciates a single leap enough to trade for gum.

However, if the dancer sells tickets to a performance and accepts money for the tickets, the dancer can go to the convenience store to get gum.

Normally I’d use chocolate chip cookies for my examples… but I’m trying to cut sugar out of my diet and I dislike gum.

SO… back to the quote and how it relates to our 5C system.

Money is credibility, credible relationships, character and competence.

When you build your Infinity Marketing Machine – you provide content that attracts a tribe… and you must provide that content consistently to build trust.

This trust is your action and follow through which is your relationship trust and is different from the trust you gain as a Subject Matter Expert based off your character.

But the character trust is what makes your content reliable and worth coming back again and again as you consistently build your relationship.

Eventually the customer turns to a tribe that you offer items for sale that you know they desire and BOOM…that’s when your skills and trust transforms into money that you can use to buy gum.

The dancer showcases all of her Subject Matter Expertise on a stage to an audience willing to trade money for a ticket to see her provide content they will enjoy, but the cash is just the equalizer to allow her to buy gum.  It’s the trust that brings them into the theater.

Build trust and eventually you’ll be able to buy gum.

So who is the star of the show?  Clearly it’s Monday so it’s “Subject Matter Expert Day”… so you think it’s you, right?

UM, it might be…

But the purpose of positioning yourself as a Subject Matter Expert is to allow others to gain trust in your background making you more credible.

For example, I can tell you to use the 5 pillars of the Infinity Marketing Machine, “Credibly, Content, Consistency, Customers, and Cash” and leave it at that… but if I say, I sent out one email and generated $1,800 in sales in two hours… or if I said that a week ago I sent out two emails in 4 days and generated $17,000 in sales, that makes your ears perk up…

However, that doesn’t make me the star.

YOU are the star… (in this case).

What do I mean?

I mean make your customer the star.  In a WIIFM (What’s In It For Me) world you’ve people only care about how something effects them.

That means my above examples are only good in that YOU want to achieve these types of results… right?!?!?

Yep.

Now, it’s the Christmas season so here’s a little real world present for you.  And I think it’s fun!

Let’s jump back to your tribe member as the “star” in the context of making them a Subject Matter Expert.

What?

How on earth do you do that?

It’s super simple… You can do it by elevating their status.

Everyone loves a loyalty card, VIP group, or even a certificate.  These distinctions in your tribe will give others something to strive for…  And at times it will give them the opportunity to list it on their “resume” as a Subject Matter Expert.

How?

Have you ever attended a conference and paid for VIP access?

Well.. often as such there is an photo opportunity… depending on circumstances, this can be hung in their office, store, or even displayed on their website.

 

I had the opportunity to meet Gary Vaynerchuk at a VIP event.  And in return I got a photo.

Another way to help your tribe with their credibility and increase yours is to have a certificate… It doesn’t have to be a complicated process.

Here’s how I used this process… I created a “Clean Boater Pledge” program. If you’re a boater – make sure to take the pledge.

It’s a simple “yes” checkbox and when you’re done it emails you a digital certificate to print and display.

But what this does is adds to their credibility!  People that love boating and want to spread the word pledge to environmentally sound boating practices.

My brand PontoonGirl.com has an “army” of followers to help in our mission.  The followers are elevated, and the brand is strengthened.

So as we head into this week of holiday madness, think of how to make the tribe that follows you, “stars”.

At first it might seem like a strange way to build your credibility by making someone else the “star” but creating a way to elevate a tribe member status is a wonderful way to build loyalty and increase your subject matter expertise.

When you get to basics you’ve got to start with a strong foundation.  The basics of the Infinity Marketing Machine are the 5 C’s.  Credibility, Content, Consistency, Customers & Cash.

The basic of credibility is your own confidence.

Today’s quote is about inner strength and how it projects to your outer foundation… meaning the confidence you project.

I was talking with a family friend that has coached his favorite sport for a long LONG time.  I mentioned that he should start a hockey camp… he had many excuses as to why others were more qualified.

Now it made me laugh.

There is a place for EVERYONE.

When you have expertise, it’s selfish to keep it to yourself.  Really it is.

There will always be someone better than you, more experienced than you, and has more awards.

But you know what… the person in front of you is not looking for THAT person, they are in front of you for some reason.  You attracted them. They were drawn to you.

It’s your job to have confidence in your message and share it.

As for that lack of confidence moment… OH yes, I have it too.  I know what I’m saying is accurate and useful, but I also watch the “big names” and think, why would someone listen to me.

Yet, here you are.  Reading my message.  For some reason you were brought in front of me and for that I’m grateful.

Have you ever thought about teaching your customers?

Odd question, right… we normally think a customer comes and buys stuff then leaves.  With the Infinity Marketing Machine we teach that we want the customer to stay and join our tribe.

Well… I got an email today and it made me think… is Etsy a tribe?  After all, as a seller you list items for sale, and that’s it right?

But it’s in Etsy’s best interest to have you sell things so you continue to list things.

I think that means they want you around for a while, so sellers on Etsy are a tribe. 🙂

The email today got me thinking about how we can all teach our customers things… the email I received from Etsy was a wonderful Top 8 hints to selling on Etsy.   Here it is:  Etsy seller handbook  It’s actually teaching you HOW to use their product.

This type of content, right now, as we head into the holiday selling season is critical to the success of the small businesses on Etsy and in turn critical to the infinity customer factor that Etsy has with it’s sellers.

Make Sense?

What’s good for their sellers is good for Etsy.

So at your business, within your tribe, ask yourself, “What’s good for my tribe?”  Teach them HOW to use your product, business, parking lot — make things easy so they want to stick around for a long long time!

So this is what I’m talking about!

As we’re learning the basic foundation of the Infinity Marketing Machine — step one is character/credibility.  Look at this photo and ask yourself, “Where is a good place to get Sunday Brunch?”

When you compete for local awards… even the ones that seem “easy” to win, they can make a big impact if you utilize the skills of Award Marketing.

Award Marketing is something I came across, quite by accident.  It was after our marina won National Marina of the Year and it has to do with using your award, title, and honor for purposes of public exposure.

Well… take another look at the photo.

Clearly this restaurant won an award for the best Sunday Brunch.  Now we don’t ask our selves who sponsored the contest, how many people competed, was the criteria including bacon… or just eggs… no we just say, “I’m hungry – that looks like a fantastic place to eat breakfast – they were voted best brunch, so other people think they’re great… let’s go eat!”

I was half awake, listening to the morning news… and this story came on about Ellen and the Former President at a football game together.  There was outrage… then she gave a monologue about how everyone needs to be nice.

It was a lovely story.

About 30 minutes later, a little awaker, I heard the story again and the words, “Be Kind to Everyone” stuck out to me.

Back to sleep I went.

THEN I heard the story again… and boom.  An Idea.  This was going to be a well searched thought, popular in the 24 hour news cycle.

BUT if I act fast – I can make a terrific Infinity Product.

About an hour later… a new collection was created on my website!

 

When you have an idea, run with it.  This was something that took a little time, but here’s the deal… it’s “done” – the hard work is ready to sit until, “Infinity” – it has the ability to be reproduced over and over and over.

It’s one thing to understand the concept… it’s another to do the work.   For example, I understand the concept of doing a back flip on the balance beam.  I can watch YouTube videos for a step-by-step instruction on how to successfully complete a back flip on the beam.

But Guess What?

That does NOT mean I can do a back flip on the beam.

It does mean that I have a better appreciation when I watch gymnastic competitions.

SOOOOOO how about you?

Do you understand the concept of the Infinity Marketing Machine?  You build a tribe of people that “know, like, and trust you”.  You create great content they want and you deliver it to them consistently.

It’s that simple!

OR is it… yes it’s simple… but it’s not easy.

You need to put in the work!  It takes time and effort to crank up the machine and even more time and dedication to keep the machine running.

I love today’s quote – discipline and consistency are the two basic principles of making your Infinity Marketing Machine work!

Today – focus on your discipline.  Make a commitment to yourself to provide that content regularly and it will pay off!  You will create a tribe that wants to hang around with you and that’s when the real magic happens.
