Thursday: Infinity Customers

Who do you follow?  Think about the people, brands, celebrities, products, businesses?  Which ones do you love…

Now ask yourself why do you follow them?  Why do you feel such a connection with the entity that you follow it?

You see, I’ve heard you can follow something as simple as cereal.  Growing up I used to love a trip to the grocery store to visit the cereal aisle.  That was always cool.  Way better than the spices (yawn, boring).  But I bet you can follow a spices page…

So why do we do this?

Because we want to belong.  I follow my favorite hotel in Florida.  Why?  Each time I see the pool, I envision myself floating in it!  I imagine that people who follow spices think of smells or tastes?  OK, I have no idea… that’s just to strange for me.  But hey, I’m not part of that tribe!

And that’s the point.

As a follower you want to belong.  That’s why you give permission for a toilet paper company to send you information.

Now reverse engineer this… do YOU offer an “experience” that people want to follow?  And I don’t just mean online. Do they want to west a T shirt with your logo?  At the heart of it, are you a good leader?  Remember, you are the vibe behind your tribe.

This vibe is a critical portion of your Infinity Marketing Machine.  The reason is that you want people to hang out with you and consume the content you provide. When they stick around they become loyal and that loyalty translates into more sales.

That’s what we all want… more sales!

Your vibe can be created. It is a combination of your policies and procedures mixed with your products and services tied together with your history and story!

This vibe is critical to your Infinity Marketing Machine.  The stronger and more defined your vibe the better your results will be.

Take some time today to see what vibe you already have… and then decide if it’s what you really want to be leading!  If it’s not… change it.

Monday: Character

The goal of turning our social media efforts into an Infinity Marketing Machine is accomplished by getting our audience to know, like, and trust us.

The question becomes, “How do we do this?”

When you convert your effort to creating an Infinity Marketing Machine All communication with your customers centers around this main goal.  You want all communications to build trust and get people to know us that’s how they will like us!

I’ve often said we do this through creating consistent content that is useful to our followers.  BUT, it’s a little more than just content.  It’s about the credibility of the person  creating the content!

Sure you can create a site where you constantly repost items from experts… but all that makes you is a good reposter-er… you want to be more than that!  You want to be one of the experts.

When you position yourself as an expert you will enhance your following.  This may seem daunting… but you can do this with something as simple as a Linked-In or Facebook Profile.

Use these two “ready to go” traffic generators.  Just build and enhance your profiles.  Include your talents/skills and honors/awards.  Also post your own creative content.

That’s a little tricky for some people.  I think it’s because we use the word “expert” and follow it with “create content” – that means you are blogging or vlogging information for potential customers to see!  That gets scary… until you think of this trick.

The second half… “When you learn, teach.”

If you can hold a conversation about your product, service, or industry then you can write or create a video about it.  Take what you have LEARNED and spin it into a TEACHING moment.

Just like this blog post… all I’m doing is sharing information I’ve learned.  I’m teaching you what I know!  I love learning more and more about being an Infinitypreneur but… it’s even better to teach you!

Instead of thinking of “positioning yourself as an expert” think of yourself as “Teaching what you know”!

The goal with the Infinity Marketing Machine is to create your own tribe.  This is the group of customers that know, like, and trust you!  When you’ve gained “the big three” you are able to suggest different products… and make more money.

The road to “the big three” takes time and consistent effort… and that’s when small business owners hit a wall.

I remember reading a social media “how to” book that said, “prepare to spend 15 hours a week on blah blah blah”.  I burst out laughing… who has time!  This quickly became a “how not to” book for social media marketing!

That’s when I decided there’s got to be a better way — thus, I developed the Infinity Marketing Machine.

But recently it’s felt like something has been missing.  Yes, you build this machine and you create customers that become loyal tribe members… however, I’m convinced we need a mind shift.  We need to “Quit Thinking Small”.

I’ve always had this feeling deep in my gut that “small business” has a negative vibe.  Sure the physical size of businesses are not “large” and most focus around one or two  entrepreneurs, physically it’s small.  BUT, just for fun,  I looked up synonyms for “small” and the list included, puny, pitiful, petty, little, diminutive, meager, slight… it kept going.  Do you have a puny business?  How about a diminutive business?  Worst yet… is it a “cute” business… I hate that one!

Now… here are a few of the antonyms of small:  great, important, substantial, unrestricted… doesn’t a “great business”, or “important business” sound better?

Here’s where I’m going…

Quit Thinking Small and Start Doing Infinity

OLD MINDSET:  Products + Customers = Small Businesses

NEW MINDSET: Infinity Products + Infinity Customers = Infinity Businesses

When you produce a product that is ongoing without an upper limit and when you convert your customers from “one and done” to Infinity through my process of tribeology.  You have transitioned from entrepreneur to Infinitypreneur!

It’s VERY hot outside. You just took your dog for a walk with the sun beating down on you.  You’re sweaty, hot, dusty, cranky, and tired.  You open the door to your house and the air conditioner is out.  It’s thick stale air. Perfect for that refreshing mug of… hot chocolate.

WHAT?

Tribe building is exactly like that mug of hot chocolate.  While you are correct that your tribe wants something to drink… you need to make sure it’s what THEY want to drink!  After a walk a refreshing glass of water would be excellent.  Hot chocolate better suited for the late fall football game.

Our goal with the Infinity Marketing Machine is to build a tribe that we can market products to that they will buy.

I started to read a great book today – it’s called Expert Secrets.  The book highlights how entrepreneurs use tribe building to their advantage.  Now, I’m not sure it’s for you, but… I’ve found it’s message very inspiring for small business owners ready to carve their own path in this new marketing world!  If that sounds like you, give it a peek… there’s even an offer to grab it for free if you just pay for the shipping.  Kinda cool eh?

That book is the type of product you want because you’re part of my tribe!  My goal with this blog is to gather people that are interested in learning how to build a tribe!

On the other hand, if I told you all about the perfect “resume boot camp 3-day experience” where you learn how to tweak your resume to guarantee you a new job by Friday, it’s no different than giving our summer dog walker a cup of hot chocolate.  You have a business, you are a business owner, there is no purpose to develop a “perfect resume” to have a new job by Friday.

It’s a great offer, but to my readers it’s a “bad” offer.  Does that make sense?

Making a perfect tribe/info match is like cookies and milk.  Cookies are good and milk is good, but put them together and it’s good times 10!

When you have a tribe and you offer them something they want… WOW!  That’s Good times 10.

I successfully tested this process with an offer to my boaters.  I suggested “aqua water mats” to them in an email. The result?  I made $1,800 in two hours because it was a perfect product for my tribe.

You can do this too… just really get to know your audience and offer cool refreshing water, or hot chocolate, just make sure you’re thinking “cookies and milk” when you do it!

UGH I think I’m hungry.
