Instagram is a great way to show off the items you offer for sale… I mean, look at this great desk!

Take another look at it…

Now read the caption.

It’s NOT for sale!  It easily could be a product photo shot – but instead it’s a Thank You!

A thank you not for someone giving to them as a gift… it’s a thank you to the movers who they paid money for and did not need to give a “shout out” to – but they did!  They wanted to thank the company that moved the desk.

Thank the people that serve you…

Speaking of serving… the writer mentioned they never could have done it without the movers because it’s a heavy desk.  The movers served her, sure she paid, but the overwhelming gratitude for having her desk placed in this spot of her studio thrilled her!

What’s the take away?  Why am I mentioning it?

Do you like this person, even if you have no idea what their business is… they are thankful, polite, and HAPPY.

If you love this you will be attracted to this tribe. 

SO… although they did not plan this as a tribe building post – it was just created because the writer was genuinely thankful, but a post like this has the ability to be a tremendous tribe building tool.

Have you ever been on a freeway, stuck in a traffic jam?

You look up your GPS and see that the next 15 miles are solid red parking lot style traffic patterns and you throw your hands up in the air… then try to find a good song on the stereo?

Yeah…

What about this… get off the freeway and take the 45 mile back roads that go around the traffic jam?  But you think, that’s an extra 30 miles!

YES

But you have movement.

Just like today’s quote… you don’t HAVE to do what everyone else is doing.

You are here learning that creating an email list and offering products to a tribe is far more creative than having products for sale and looking for buyers.

It’s a totally different way of thinking.

It’s movement… just like the 45 mile detour.

Yesterday I went visit our printer.  I’ve got a large print order coming soon and I wanted to give them a heads up…

They are in the process of remodeling their front reception area… and look at what they did…

They have their awards on display!  It’s so cool to see businesses show off their awards.

This is such a nice way to show credibility.  The funny thing is, when you see an award, you might not even know “why” it was won, but it’s just nice to see the recognition in the industry.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 847 – Why You Need to Celebrate You.

Quote: “There’s nothing more rewarding than standing back and seeing all the hard work pay off.”

Today.  Stop.  And appreciate what you’ve done.

I’m serious.

We’re in the middle of the 4th quarter crunch.  There’s time to make last minute gains and a push to the New Year.

But look back (at least for a quick moment)

This will help you in HUGE ways.  When you’re talking to customers, and by talking I mean writing an email or speaking in person… maybe I should say “communicating”.

When you are communicating with your customers, the confidence you have will give an automatic boost to your credibility.

But to gain that confidence you must stop and recognize all that you have done.

It’s so easy to say “yep I hit a sales goal” or “Yep, I won that award” but the goal or the award are the capstone of an entire journey.

My cousin opened a yoga studio, of her own.  I mean she actually bought her own building.  She’s been teaching yoga for almost a decade, so she has a following… but she took a leap, remodeled a building, hosts events, and has students that respect and pay her!

Last weekend she had a special event with a guest teacher and packed room.  I said, look at just how much you’ve accomplished to get to today.   All the training, practice, mentoring you’ve done.

It’s not that she opened a studio, but she’s changed lives.

She was busy focusing on the next thing coming up (class in two hours) but just like her… you need to stop and appreciate where you’re at, right now.

The credibility you share with your tribe is not just in the words you say, awards you’ve won, but it’s in your actual day to day actions.  Your actions right now are only possible from all the hard work you did to just before reading this!

Congratulations.

Now get back to work. 🙂

This is an exciting day!

Remember I like to refer to it as Infinity Businesses — that makes me think big, well larger than BIG — which is much better than “small”… right?!?!  But for today we’ll go with Small Business Saturday!

OK so I was thinking about this post on Thanksgiving, no kidding… The post for this Saturday, I thought, it needs to be special.

Sure, I could give you a tip, a real world example, and I have a few to share… but what do you really need?

How about some actual tips that you can still implement, right now… TODAY… to increase your sales activity on Cyber Monday???  How awesome is that!

I know I know Cyber Monday is two days away… so you might think, “isn’t it too late”?

Heck NO!  You could run a sale RIGHT NOW if you wanted… all you have to do is tell people about it, right?  I mean you’re an entrepreneur, you report to yourself, so hold a meeting and just decide to make the most out of Cyber Monday.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 829 – Learning Credibility From the Big Bad Wolf

The fun of today’s post is thinking about the Big Bad Wolf.  If we look at the quote there’s the motivational message of, don’t let fear make your mind run wild.

It’s a great message.

You need to be cautious that you don’t let fear get the best of you and prevent you from doing amazing things!  The wolf may be bad… but he’s not unstoppable.

But now let’s twist this quote and focus on the big bad wolf.

What do we know about the Big Bad Wolf?  Well, he lives to harass pigs and has impressive lung power.

He’s got a strong brand.

You’ve never met the Big Bad Wolf and yet you’re afraid of him.  But while you’re afraid of him, please recognize, he’s a Subject Matter Expert.  He goes through life displaying his talent in house demolition… His reputation precedes him and causes you to buy strong construction materials, like brick, if you happen to be building a home in the area.

Ironic, eh? You never think of the Big Bad Wolf as an expert… but he’s got skills AND he markets them pretty darn well.

His skills in home demolition with his brand of “big bad wolf” make you take notice and as today’s quote shows… we have a habit of fearing him much larger than needed, and he’s only a story!

So how do you get you brand to be as strong (but nicer) than the Big Bad Wolf — well, like the wolf, you advertise by featuring your strength.  Get out there and build a reputation through success.

Granted the wolf did it with “word of mouth” and the fear of having your house blown down and getting eaten… I don’t think that’s a great way to build your credibility.  I think a much better way is with reviews!

And… all you have to do is ask your customers.

When a third party endorses you that has actually used your product or service… wow.  That’s a fantastic credibility builder.

TribeologyBlog.com – Episode 792 – Don’t Try This!

I love visiting the whole Disneyworld resort.  The parks are fine – I’m not really into them… but I absolutely love visiting the hotels.

That’s probably strange.

But hear me out — it’s a great way to see how to create a theme and have total immersion.  By total immersion I mean the menu items, the attire worn at the front desk, the flowers, and furniture…

You are completely dropped into a theme.

So for this Saturday you can use the “try this” tip as creating a theme from start to finish.

BUT

I wanted to share an opposite of “Try This” and make it a “Don’t Try This”

Look at this photo…

We walked down the hall toward the restrooms and on the left side was this space…

Anyone recognize it?

YES!  It’s an old phone bank.  I actually remember visiting this hotel when they had payphones on the walls!

But now it’s this… a strange space with blank panels in the areas where the phones used to be.  But that’s it.

Why?

With the careful attention to detail it seems odd to have a void.   It could be closed off for storage… it could have chairs or benches as a waiting area… I mean there are lots of other things.  But this?  It’s just unused void.

Take a look at your business and just see if you’re void.  Maybe it’s on a webpage or even your brochure.  But use the Disney experience as your guide and…
