Pricing!  A topic that has many options.  But ultimately it’s fun and kind of like a game… and his is how we make money!

That’s why this example caught my eye.

When you buy one button it’s $2.99.

However, when you want to sell more – it’s best to offer a discount.

Normally I see a percentage off or a BOGO.

But this was new.  Market the lowest price then under put the quantity to purchase.

$2.00 each when you buy 4.

At regular price it would be $11.96, that’s a 33% off discount.

So you could list: 33% off… buy three get one free… but they chose the large $2.00 and the small quantity underneath.

I found it interesting and something I’ve never thought of.  But that low price does look like a great deal!

As I wrap up my week of reviews… this “Try This” is fun.  It shows how if you stay in touch with your local community you can modify your product to attract visitors and make extra money.

The third week in July, every summer, if you visit the city of South Bend, Indiana you will be at the heart of baton twirling in the United States.

The National Baton Championships happen every summer during that week at Notre Dame University… I spent 9 summers as a competitor and several years (so far) as a coach!

This competition brings in just over 4,000 twirlers!

That’s a WHOLE BUNCH!

It’s a total twirling takeover of the city!

When I was a kid, occasionally the area businesses would encourage a visit to their business by offering a discount, for example, Pizza Hut used to give you a free soda when you wore your medal to dinner!

Well… here’s a cool Facebook post a friend of mine created this past July.

The Super Target bakery created “baton themed” cupcakes!  How easy was it to take a 6 pack of cupcakes and put a baton on 3 of them… OH MY, pretty easy!

BUT…

Someone had to have the idea AND follow through on it.  But with 4,000 twirlers (and their parents) it’s smart to create a “something” that draws customers in… I mean, look at the cute photo that showed up on Facebook, all because someone made a gray frosting baton!

Look for opportunities to welcome conferences, special events, or visitors to your business.

Cupcakes, name a sandwich, create a shirt, how about a special card for a floral arrangement.  Very simple things can create a positive vibe.

If you don’t have an actual product to create… learn how to welcome your guests!  For example, you can also use a white board and write a welcome visitors message.  We’ve done this with our pontoon boats, we have listed the cities, states, or even countries the visitors are arriving from!

We received lots of positive feedback from this… kinda makes me wonder why we stopped it… hummmm…. something for me to figure out today.  (scratch head)

I love days when we quote Abraham Lincoln.

Why?

Because it shows how timeless wisdom can be!  I’m using it to help explain the importance telling a story, telling your business success story!

This post needs no words.  Just look at it!

Congratulations to this woman, 30 lbs in six weeks. WOW!  Awesome for her…

But also, awesome to this fitness studio.  Not just for showing her a process to be successful in her transformation… but for sharing it in a simple way with their social feed.

Look, it doesn’t need words to say how she did it.  It’s super simple.

And, it’s super effective!

This is a classic transformation/before and after type success story. Think of a way you can do this!  If you are an orthodontist it’s a great visual process.  What about a before/after for house painting… we can do it at the marina for before/after on boat bottom cleaning.

This is such a small way to gain big results that we often over look it!

Business is designed to help other people by providing a product or service to better the life of someone else, therefore, business it’s self is a before/after.  So compile a list and utilize this tool.

The fourth “C” of the Infinity Marketing Machine is Customer, more specifically Infinity Customer. This is a person that joins your tribe and stays.  They are very loyal and purchase items “over and over and over”.  We like Infinity Customers.

Now… the thing to keep in mind is this… Your Infinity Customer can leave at any time, so don’t neglect your relationship.

It’s important that the information you provide is useful… but the other thing that is important is that you provide items they want to buy!

I was looking on Pinterest a couple days ago and came across this!

Can you see why this is important for us to study?

This is an Infinity Product!  Remember, the infinity product is one that can be replicated over and over.  But I really like this because it’s niche based.  If you had a business of nerds as your base.  This is your product!

T Shirts for science loving introverts that apparently don’t like pants.  haha

But look at the significance.  It’s a gray shirt with different words under a common theme that is niche based.

YES.

Learn from this product – because as you want to make money and seek that $1/per month per person on your email list, the infinity product is critical to your success.

Next Step… sit down and brainstorm your niche and the type of product that is desired from your group, then provide it!  If needed, throw them a nerd party!

Here’s a quick but great idea for our Saturday “Try This” topic!

I was wondering what the spring break schedule was for our local school district.  I asked Siri and she came up with a link for the district page.  Sure it was the page with the calendar, but here’s the cool part.

Right on the main menu it says, “One page printable” – this is the most helpful idea!

The district could have posted a graphic on the page that showed the dates and that would have been sufficent.

BUT

They went the extra mile (which isn’t difficult) to post a PDF version so you can print out and put on the refrigerator…

Think about what services you offer at your business.  Is there a way that you too can create a one page PDF download?

Alright — this made me laugh… but you’ve got to ask!  Today is Friday, and on Friday I like to talk about cash – especially ideas from the real world and how we can make “infinity cash” –

Ultimately, infinity cash is the best!  It’s cash that just keeps coming.  It’s one simple thing that can be replicated without much effort, over and over and over.

The best and simplest way when you sell a product via subscription service.  Remember, I’m a big fan!  Anytime you can get a customer to buy something on a regular basis, for example monthly… you’ve found gold.

But here’s a funny one.  I was shopping on the Office Depot site yesterday… and they regularly offer subscription buying.  It makes a lot of sense for paper, toner, toilet paper.  You know, consumables.

However, I was in the market for a pencil sharpener.  Just a cheap little sharpener to sharpen a pencil about twice a year when we don’t use a mechanical pencil.

I found one!  $2.09 each… it arrived today – great product, self contained for the shavings…. you know, a nice pencil sharper, can’t say enough about it – haha.

Look at the photo… you can buy this sharpener on a subscription basis.  I’m sure someone out there buys many sharpeners and this is probably a welcome service.  Granted, I’m having trouble finding the need to have a shiny new sharpener arrive every month, but again, I’m not the ideal client.

So in terms of “Big Money Small Change” day… just offer it.  You’ve got to ask otherwise the answer really is no.  Someone out there will see this and think, AWESOME I get a new pencil sharpener every month… cool.  Might not be you, but if this is your site, do you really care?  NO, you just want to sell more.

Go for it… ASK!

Give it your all 110% of the time is a great idea, but it’s exhausting.  How about expanding your own definition of talent?  Today, I went on an adventure to court.

I know… just a day in the life… but we have a disagreement with our asphalt job so, when disagreements are unresolved… court happens.

Anyway — I was sitting in court and looked down at the floor.  The floors are perfectly vacuumed – I mean the carpet goes up on the baseboard, too – it was clean… in the corners!  Then I looked on the baseboard AND it was dust free.

This was in the area where the public sits and waits… I thought to myself, wow someone has some amazing talent and pride to make it this clean.  I appreciated it.

Next… We stopped at McDonald’s and the gal that took our order was speaking Spanish to the customer in front of us, then took our order in English.  But the first group came back and asked a question in Spanish and while she was talking to us in English, she talked to him… it was amazing – what a gift of languages.  Talent, raw talent.

It may be such a thing that the “hustle/grind” that exhausts us could slow down a bit if we looked at our gifts as talent and recognized them as talents and gifts and started to put them to work.  What I’m saying is, cut yourself some slack… you are talented and surrounded by talent.
